      What a joy

Left on 04/07/2013 for a stay in March 2013

This cottage is a joy in every way, all led by Sue and Richard together. Everything was exemplary, we could not fault the property or the service we received over the 2 nights we stayed here, on March 28 and 29, 2013. The cottage is set in wonderfully peaceful land with just the birdsong to greet you when waking -- bliss! Both Sue and Richard made a point of being welcoming and chatty, but not uncomfortably so, it felt like meeting old friends again, although had not met before, though maybe we will see them if they come over to England and do call to say, 'We're here, where shall we meet for coffee...'! Great location for getting further north on the North Island and Whangarei itself is beautiful to visit.

      Fantastic Experience

Left on 01/03/2013 for a stay in December 2012

Very friendly; fantastic little bungalow separate so giving you your own space if you need it with enough food to get you started in the morning. Being new to NZ Sue and Richard went out of their way to make sure I was settling in well. Well recommended!

      Comfortable, self contained lucky find.

Left on 03/17/2012 for a stay in March 2012

How lucky we were to find Kereru Cottage for our three night stay in Northland towards the end of our New Zealand adventure!!! Nothing about the description of the cottage on the website disappointed - it is fully self contained, set in beautifully tended gardens and backs onto a wooded reserve. Sue and Richard have provided an extremely comfortable and quiet 'home from home'.  Both are charming, helpful and informative hosts - we were even invited to share their evening meal with them on our first night.
Breakfast is self serve continental, with provisions delivered daily. However, the additional touch of fresh fruit, home baked cookies and a most delicious home baked loaf of bread (honey and walnut) on our arrival set the scene for our memorable stay.
The kitchenette is fully equipped with cooker, toaster, sandwich maker, pots and pans etc so cooking a meal would be no problem. We were visiting friends in the area and so we did not have the opportunity to use the cooking facilities -  nor indeed to watch the TV or a DVD. We did, however, make full use of the washing machine, a great asset at the end of our four weeks stay in NZ - and the free WiFi was an additional bonus.
We were charmed but the area in and around Whangarei.  The Falls and walks in the ah Reed Memorial Park, the Town Basin and marina, the Claphams Clock Museum and the trip to the top of Memorial Drive for a superb view of the surrounding area were our favourite 'must dos'. The drive to the Bay of Islands was well worth it - and also easily done.
Our only regret was that we were not able to stay at the cottage and in the area for longer.

      Very Comfortable in tranquil surroundings

Left on 02/05/2012 for a stay in January 2012

My wife and I stayed at Kereru Cottage for two nights in January 2012. We have driven through Whangariei many times on our way to our from the far North, but never stayed the night before. We are glad we did this time. There is plenty to do in the area.

The cottage is set in the rear of a suburban gardien, which is beautifully kept, and makes a lovely setting. The location is very quiet. The cottage is clean, comfortable and well equiped. There is a living room with armchairs, TV and dining table, a well equiped kitchen, a separate bedroom with queen bed and a large bathroom / laundry. Breakfast is self-service continental, with an added touch of fruit, and freshly home-baked bread.

We would definitely recommend Kereru cottage, and have already booked to stay again.

Everything you could wish for, and more ...

Left on 01/28/2012 for a stay in November 2011

Extremely comfortable accommodation, home away from home. Well appointed, including washing machine. Excellent breakfast, with the "home-made" touches. Just a short drive to the CBD, but feels like a rural setting with lovely gardens in very quiet suburb. We enjoyed our much needed rest and relaxation to recharge the batteries. Thank you for a lovely stay Sue and Richard.
