Barendrecht, The NetherlandsComfortable place to stay in Whistler!
Left on 08/18/2011 for a stay in July 2011
The house: There are two suites. We’ve rented the lower suite. When we arrived there were people staying at the upper suite. We did not hear them at all.
The interior is nice and well decorated and clean (although it isn’t smart to buy a light coloured couch in a rental home) and large enough. The kitchen is also well equipped: everything you need is present and there are two bathrooms (one with a bathtub and one with a shower). There is a washing machine outside so everything is present! We liked it and it felt a bit home.
Remarks: One of the rooms is located above the living room. You can reach it by climbing up a very steep stairs (We don’t have a picture of it.. how stupid… but it’s like some sort steep ladder..). It isn’t suitable for everyone and a little dangerous.
It isn’t cheap (but what is in Whistler…), but we have to admit that we –just the two of us- rented the place but it could sleep six… Although we think that it is too small for six people (see the pictures).
Surroundings: There is a garden with a hot tub, which you share with the other suite, and some comfortable chairs. The garden is relatively private. Only the neighbours on the left could look into the garden, but not very easy. You have no real views, but that’s normal when you are in a residential area. There is enough room to park your car in front of the house.
Location: The house is a relatively short walk from downtown Whistler (check for yourself using google maps and decide for yourself if it is short enough or not). Due to the distance from downtown Whistelr it is quiet at night, although there was a party going on one night in the neighbourhood, but that could happen everywhere.
Conclusion: We liked it and absolutely did not regret staying at Fitzsimmons House!
Remark: Although we wrote this review in English, we are Dutch so… we hope you don’t mind grammatical errors... :-) -

VancouverComfortable, convenient and clean
Left on 02/02/2011 for a stay in January 2011
Convenient location, close to Village. Modern, well-designed chalet style home with comfortable radiant heated floors. Well equipped and elegantly furnished. Spotlessly presented on arrival. Easy check-in/check-out. Professionally managed rental process.

The accomodation was a good size for two couples and two young children. The location of the house was great- an easy walk to Whistler village and activities.

VancouverToo small for number of people advertised...
Left on 01/13/2011 for a stay in August 2010
Our group of 7 people rented both the upper and lower suites for 2 nights. The house was clean and orderly, but for 7 people rather small: barely enough room for 4 people in living room; ladders to climb into some sleeping areas (beware of the small print on their ad: not code compliant, low headroom); the dining table downstairs is for 4 people only; no place to put bags or other belongings and in some rooms not even a small closet for putting clothes. A major complaint is that the hot-tub was cold upon arrival, and it took almost a day to warm up. Since we arrived late on the first day, this meant we could only use it on the second evening. Owners were unhelpful and showed no concern for the matter. At almost cad$50 per person per night, I would expect better.

VancouverFitzsimmons House Whistler

Highly recommended! A beautiful place in Whistler. Location is a short bike ride from the village or Lost Lake trails (5 minutes) or a reasonable 15 minute walk. Tastefully decorated and everything is very new and in great condition. Summer price was a great value for what you get. The downstairs suite has a "loft" bedroom that is very cool for the kids. Nice big patio in the back with a hottub and BBQ. Yard was not landscaped but no big deal in my opinion. Loved the place.
