Hong KongA wonderful place to return to after a day of skiing!
Left on 04/23/2013 for a stay in April 2013
This place felt like a real home. There was lots of space for everyone (we were 4 adults and 4 kids). The older kids loved the loft as it was a place of their own. The heated tiles in the kitchen was a real bonus. Enjoyed the whole experience. Thanks Jim!

Had a maximum of 8 people at a time in the lodge. Seemed like we had no neighbours at all! Music system pumped good vibes through the entire place and everyone really enjoyed their stay.
No complaints by the group other than there being no hot tub. But that's for the spoiled I suppose! -

Left on 02/01/2013 for a stay in January 2013
Really spacious, beautiful unit. Very short drive to the lifts. Probably the best unit overall I have stayed in Whistler.
Be aware that master bedroom has direct door to shared bath for main floor, so bring earplugs, or be awakened by toilet flushes etc. during the night.
Like all of these units, don't expect to put in the max number of people. Five or six is quite comfortable, seven is ok. Eight to ten would really be pushing it (might be ok with kids).
We wanted to ski the last day, and there were no new guests coming in that day, so we asked for a late checkout. We got it, but had to pay $50 extra -- I have not had a problem getting this for free at any other unit I have stayed at in Whistler. -

Very nice, well equipped condo. Located in a quiet area somewhat close to the main Whistler Village. You can walk to the village in approx.15 mins. It is on a bus shuttle line so you can take the bus to the ski lifts though there is a fee. The unit is on the top floor so there is no noise from people above (nice).

HonoluluAloha from Whistler!
Left on 01/03/2013 for a stay in December 2012
The place was nice, well kept, and just a very short ride to the slopes. The board games and books could be updated, but the open living room area accommodated our group just fine. The reserved parking stalls were extremely tight, considering that the vehicles driven during the winter season are either vans or Suv's. In any case, our overall experience was great and we would definitely consider staying at the Whistler Getaway again!

We stayed at the Whistler Gateway for four days. We had a wonderful time at the condo and skiing at Whistler/Blackcomb hills which had tons of snow.
The Whistler Getaway condo is in excellent shape. we found that it was very well appointed with nice furniture. It was well suited to our family of 6, located minutes away from the hills and shopping. The condo offers a nice view of the mountains. Ir was a very nice oasis that even included a Christmas Tree! That personal touch is the hallmark of the owner, Jim, who was always available with suggestions as to where to shop etc. -

Out of all the properties on allurdiect.ca we chose #733. We were lucky! My husband, daughter, son-in-law and 2 grandchildren fit perfectly into Jim's condo with lots of room to spare. The condo has comfortable beds , 2 bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen/dining area and cozy living room. We loved the quiet natural environment but at the same time, the condo's close proximity to the village. Whether we wanted to walk, bike or drive, the village was easily accessible. Would we stay at the condo again? Unreservedly yes!

Vancouver, BCAffordable and enjoyable!
Left on 08/16/2012 for a stay in August 2012
Our group of 7 found this place to be very comfortable and well stocked -- the kitchen, extra bath towels in the vanity, and soap/shampoo was provided on the wall of the showers. What surprised me the most is how spacious the home actually was.
Location-wise, it was about a 15-20 minute walk to the Village for our slow-paced group. However the walk itself is enjoyable. It was also easy to get around as we just had to follow the valley trail to get to places such as alta Lake rentals and the Village.
Many thanks to Jim for fast responses and checking to make sure everything was okay. We will definitely consider this rental home again! -

We're a family of four and the apartment was fantastic for us. It's a great size, and the mezzanine floor added an extra bit of interest to e layout. It's well furnished and kitted out with all that you need. Plus, there are mountain views of Whistler and Blackcomb.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the apartment! And can't wait to return! -

Our family 'got away' for the May long weekend at Jim's place in Whistler.
Jim's place is a great rental for any body. The home is spacious and open and bright. The home comfortably accommodated our group of 6 adults and 2 young children with lots of space for games and activities. We can't think of anything we needed that wasn't provided... including a high chair and playpen. The fireplace was a wonderful amenity which our family enjoyed relaxing around. The kitchen is well stocked and we cooked all our creative and excellent meals. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms are spacious and clean. The loft is a great space with a welcoming work / office space for those who need to work while on holidays. Accessing the high speed internet was simple and convenient. The view of the Blackcomb and Whistler ski slopes are inspiring from the loft balcony. We will be back for skiing!
We had an excellent time using the scenic and well maintained bike path from Jim's place to Whistler Village and beyond. Whistler has so many activities to enjoy. We only wish we had more time as it was hard to choose which hiking trail to enjoy. We definitely plan to come back. We look forward to staying at Jim's place for all our future visits. The rental home is clean, well maintained, nicely decorated and comfortable. Jim is a friendly owner who clearly works hard to provide quality accommodations for people looking for relaxing spaces to stay while traveling. -

The condo is spacious and well laid out. Especially enjoyed the heated floors in the bathroom, the vaulted ceilings in the living room and the loft space. And it's less than a 5 minute drive to the village. I found the owner, Jim, to be helpful. Would definitely recommend this condo for families.

Left on 03/06/2012 for a stay in January 2012
This rental was fabulous - I highly recommend it. We had 6 people staying there and it felt spacious, with each couple having their own room and even a bunk bed for the young child.
Best parts (besides the complimentary bottle of wine when we arrived) were:
1) Very well-stocked kitchen - it had high-quality cooking utensils, pots, and pans; plus it had all the basic food staples in the cupboards.
2) Whirlpool tub - no better way to relax after a long day on the slopes
3) Good work space - wifi throughout and an office nook upstairs. This allowed me to focus and get work done even while people hung out in the living room downstairs.
4) Open floor plan downstairs - the kitchen, dining room, and living room are in an open floor plan that allowed those of us cooking to interact with the people in the living room. Ideal for us since our family was coming from all over to congregate here.
5) Very responsive owner - great communication from Jim throughout, he even spoke with us when we arrived to make sure that we had everything that we needed.
I absolutely recommend this place and have already passed along some referrals to friends. Not going to look anywhere else next year. -

Comfortable beds and living room furniture. Owner has paid attention to details with provisions. A bottle of wine was provided as a welcoming touch. Convenient location, quiet, with a pleasant view. There is plenty of storage and a large mud room. Accommodates a group or family comfortably. I would recommend to friends, and would definitely

Freehold, NJWhistler - Blueberry Hill
Left on 01/05/2012 for a stay in December 2011
My family just returned from a week at Whistler. We stayed at Jim's place located in the Blueberry Hill area. The place was excellent. The house was clean and comfortable (very homey). The kitchen had all the supplies we needed. Having a covered parking space was key. It snowed every day we were at Whistler and not having to worry about the car and digging out was perfect. Plows came through the neighborhood every morning at 6:30am so it never delayed our adventures.
Blueberry hill is only about 2 miles from town. However, the bus was not real close. So, with the distance and the weather, we never took the bus. We did take taxis. They were easy to get and only about an $8 trip. Well worth it! We drove everyday to the slopes. We would drop off equipment and then park. It was extremely simple. A little easier at Blackcomb than Whistler but we did both. We would have loved to stay in the village but it was far out of our price range. Staying in Blueberry Hill was a great alternative that put us very close to all the action. -

Left on 08/25/2011 for a stay in August 2011
Everyone in our party liked the whole condo compound and the suite. The suite was spacious and nicely furnished. Free parking is a bonus. Location is great as it is quiet yet not too far to walk to the village. Very good value for the money.
The carpet definitely needs shampooing/cleaning and we found some of the bed sheets needed to be washed before use. Overall, I would rent the suite again.Response from Jim Gaskell - 12/30/2011
Owner
I appreciate the positive comments about the suite and the fact that you would rent it again and recommend it to friends. The carpet was scheduled to be cleaned but was postponed by the cleaner for medical reasons. It has now been professionally steam cleaned. My understanding from following-up about the sheets was that they were on a bed not frequently used, probably the fold-out couch, and that some dirt had settled on the outside. All sheets are always laundered after guests leave. Thanks for the feedback and I look forward to your return.

The house was very nice and clean. It definitely had plenty of room for 9 people. The only thing that I didn't like was the distance from the village (which really wasn't that bad, just kind of inconvenient at night in the dark) and the fact that you have neighbors that expect you to go to bed early and be quiet. Other than that the stay was great!

Kirkland, WaA seamless experience in a quality condo.
Left on 02/03/2011 for a stay in January 2011
We stayed at the "Whistler Getaway" condominium and had a seamless and quality experience. The condo which is owned by Jim Gaskell was clean, spacious and nicely appointed. Check-in was extremely easy. Everything worked as billed so no time was wasted requesting repairs. Jim's attention to details was especially appreciated. It is a top floor unit so no noise from people above. The only issue anyone could have would be your not located right in the village but we actually prefered that. It is located right on the transit route so access to the village and ski lifts is easy. You can walk to the village on a nice pedestrian trail and it is not too far (15min). I think it is a great value in Whistler.

Left on 01/20/2011 for a stay in January 2011
Our stay at Jim's home for the long MLK weekend was absolutely wonderful. We arrived to a comfortable, gorgeous home and turned on the fireplace to get cozy. Jim had been wonderful at communicating with me and answering all of the questions I had. We were greeted with a lovely handwritten card and a delicious bottle of wine which we enjoyed over dinner. Unfortunately, somebody had parked in our reserved spot under cover but we just parked in the extra visitor parking outside so no harm, no foul. Really enjoyed the selection of movies and games and wish we had more time to finish that 1500 piece puzzle! If you are planning on skiing, we recommend the 5 minute drive to the base as opposed to buses. It is a pleasant 20 minute walk on the Valley Trail to get to the village so the house is absolutely a steal for the location. Would recommend it whole-heartedly for any occasion.

Left on 01/04/2011 for a stay in December 2010
This place is one of the best hands down. I dont like to share the good news as this will just make getting space here more difficult. This is for sure one of the most spacious and well equiped units in whistler, also Jim keeps his rates absolutely fair. You will need to lug your stuff up either one or two flights of stairs depending where you unload so be prepared for that. you can either drive to creekside or upper blackcomb parking for skiing, or hop on local transit bus for short ride to the hill. there is no pool, but with kids this can be good if you prefer not to spend your time poolside supervising. the community swimming pool is fantastic at any rate to get swim time and hot tub if you need it.
