New YorkPerfect location for a ski vacation
Left on 04/06/2013 for a stay in March 2013
This is the second time we have rented this property for our Whistler vacation. The Cedar Ridge location cannot be beat. You have reliable and easy ski on-ski off access (unlike some places which only have access in ideal snow conditions). David Evans has been a very responsive owner of the property. He addressed the issues I had during our stay last year and followed through with some of our suggestions. The unit is a clearly rental property (versus a place where someone lives on a regular basis). Having people in and out of a place just wears on it. Certain little things, like some of the cabinet doors, were cracked and breaking. That said, this unit was very comfortable for my family and friends. The hot tub worked well. The kitchen is stocked with cooking vessels, baking sheets and utensils. I did notice that there were less cereal bowls and cups (I am sure they just break over time) than last year, but still there were still enough to keep us going. The knives are super dull -- bring your own if you want to do some serious cooking (but this is the case with any rental that we have ever had). The rooms at this 4BR property are fairly spacious, with a good array of sleeping arrangements to allow for larger groups. There are plenty of towels and bedding to make the stay comfortable. The washer/dryer worked very well. Ski and snowboard storage was easy in the attached garage. The heated floor in the foyer made keeping our boots warm and dry easy. Whistler Village is only a short downhill distance away, doable even for beginner skiers. Because we had some non-skiers and toddlers with us, part of our group would drive to the Blackcomb Gondola midstation (free parking lot) in the morning and then download easily to Whistler Village. The car was then ready and waiting after upload at the end of the ski day. This really worked well for our entire party. We very much enjoyed our trip and look forward to future stays in this unit!

Seattle, WashingtonExcellent ski location, attentive management
Left on 03/04/2013 for a stay in March 2013
This condo is for real ski in ski out, just steps from the 30 second run to Whistler base. On a snow day before the driveway got plowed I skiied all the way to the front door. Walking down to Whistler base is about 5 minutes down the ski run - bring appropriate boots. Walking to the Blackcomb base is about 10 minutes on a busy windy road - not so pleasant. Plan on driving for groceries as climbing them up the ski run on foot will not be fun.
The hot tub is a wonderful luxury. It was maintained twice during our visit and was working for all but the first 15 minutes of our stay - that's all the time it took Dave to get someone on it after I phoned him. It turned out that flipping the breaker located downstairs reset the tub and all was well again. To turn the heat up press and hold the "heat" button and watch the numbers climb to your desired temp. To turn the heat down press and hold "heat" again and watch the numbers go down. With these bits of information we wouldn't have needed any outside help.
I stayed here with my family in March 2013. The condo is very well equipped with plenty of knives, every kitchen implement, and kitchen staples like flour, sugar, and coffee. It was well stocked with firewood and we really enjoyed the wood burning fireplace. We used the large outdoor gas grill twice. There were plenty of towels and the cleaning service came on Wednesday for a mid-week clean up, towel, and sheet change.
There is a large master bedroom on the third floor with a king bed. The master bed creaks a lot. The master has windows on to the main living space with blinds but is not very well sound insulated from the main space. It has the polpular in Whistler vaulted ceiling with high windows that don't have curtains and is not suitable for light sensitive sleepers.
The living space is on the second floor / entry floor. There are three bedrooms on the first floor. The largest has two single bunk beds, another has a full size bed with single bunk above, and the third has two single beds that can be pushed together. (Suggestion to Dave to offer king sheets for this bed for couples who want to push the beds together) The full/single room is noise impacted by the hum of the hot tub above. There are full baths on the first and third floors and a 3/4 bath on the main floor.
We had a major issue on arrival that impacted our first few hours only. Dave responded to very quickly and agressively. He appeared personally to check up on the resolution and brought chocolate and wine to apologize. I could not have hoped for a better response. After all every residence has issues from time to time and all you can do is fix it when it happens. Dave is a great landlord and it is much better to have a caring owner on the phone than a non-invested ski bum biding time at an agency.
Some furniture is showing signs of wear that you might expect from a ski rental, for example several drawer knobs had come off. There are lots of steps so this is not a good place for people with disabilities.
We were delighted with the rental and will stay again. -

Left on 02/21/2013 for a stay in February 2013
We really loved the location and quick ski or walk down to Whistler Village. The unit is very spacious and the open plan living room is a very social area with the sofa being as comfy as it looks in the photo.
Plenty of towels and pillows etc and bedding very clean.
If being critical, then would have to mention a few things. The master bedroom bed - its impossible to sleep in, just turning over means the bed makes the most dreadful loud squeeking noise (think some things need tightening up or something) and so we moved into the bunkbed room instead as it was that bad.
Few things missing in the kitchen: large frying pan, chipped crockery, different sizes of wine glasses, lack of plastic glasses, no fondue set (we bought one), things looking a bit tired.
Also looking in need of a refresh/clean were carpets and furniture.
We had to call for the cleaning on the 7th or 8th day.
All in all a nice condo, great location, just needs a bit of spruce and inventory update.Response from David Evans - 03/16/2013
Owner
Thank you Dawn for your comments, I will ensure that the master bed is either fixed or replaced and do a thorough review of all items in the kitchen and replace those that need to be and add the items you have mentioned are missing. Carpets are all cleaned prior, during and after the ski season I will ask the cleaning staff to monitor this closely to ensure this is sufficient. Regards, David Evans

I take at least one ski vacation a year and came back to Whistler for the forth time. I travel with my three sons, all above the age of 19. This time we finally "hit the nail on the head" when it comes to lodging. True ski in/ski out just a few steps from the front door. Nice and close to the town center so you don't need a rental car or local buses. There is a little bit of a hill coming back up to the rental but not a problem, it's a mini workout. There were plenty of bedrooms for us and they were very comfortable and clean. The morning views are great. The keyless entry makes check-in a breeze and you don't to worry about losing a key. This house had plenty of everything and I can't think of anything I didn't like or were not happy with. This was our best stay yet.

We wanted a cozy place to spend with friends and this rental fit the bill. There were 11 adults and one baby so figuring out sleeping arrangements was difficult as there were 5 couples. Two couples ended up sharing the room with 2 bunkbeds. If there was one more room, this place would have been perfect for us. The instructions with the rental were very straightforward and David was great by letting us know about everything in the house. The house is ski in and ski out to the village run so it is accessible from Blackcomb only. Hot tub is good for 6 at a time max. Beds were comfy but the bed in the master suite creaked a lot when just getting into the bed. It was a bit inconvenient coz we had our 4 month old with us who would sometimes get startled at the noise and wake up. This was very minor. Overall the house was very cozy. If you are into more nightlife i would suggest just finding a place in the village but if you want a more homey feel with a large group of people. Check this rental out.

This place was great!!! I actually was not expecting it to be so good! I brought paper plates and cups thinking there wasnt going to be enough of those type of things, but this suite had everything we needed!!!, I would 100% stay here again!!! there is a perfect amount of beds, awesome set up, 3 bathrooms, hot tub and dish washer and laundry! cant get any better then that. I am super excited about this place!!! Only hick up was when I was reading the paperwork it told me to call a certain person, but when I called them they had told me they didnt work for that company anymore, so I was pretty worried but she gave me a new number and she atleast knew what I was talking about. When we got there the door was hard to unlock but after messing around with the key pad we figured it out.

There is absolutly nothing I can say to fault this condo. It has everything you need, plenty of space and a perfect location for the slopes, a full 20 paces away. We had 9 of us staying and everyone wants to book again for next year. The town is just a short walk down the slope or a longer walk down the hill. The walk home is all uphill but you cant have everything. Cabs are cheap so that was our main method of getting home.

VancouverHot Tub Woes and Jet Tub Foes
Left on 04/26/2012 for a stay in April 2012
The main reason I rented the home was because it had a private hot tub. Upon arrival, we found the hot tub to be cold. There was a phone number posted and it said call if the hot tub wasn't working so I called it. The person on the other end said that I had called a cleaning service and had no idea why I'd be calling there about a hot tub and was not very pleasant at all. After a few hours of us trying to get the hot tub to heat up we called another number which was for hot tub emergencies. A guy came the next day and got the hot tub to heat up. We used it once and it shut off again. I requested the guy to come back again but he said there was no point as an electrician was required to fix the problem. So I decided to take a bath in the jacuzzi tub. When I turned on the jets the tub quickly filled with black chunks of crud...disgusting!!
Other than this huge disappointment, I'd have to say the house was in a great location for ski in, ski out. Could walk down to village in about 10 min. Nice big table in kitchen and fireplace was nice.
I received this e-mail today saying that David Evans, the property owner would like my opinion and to rate the property. I find it interesting that I e-mailed him a few days ago letting him know about the problems we had and requesting a partial refund and haven't even heard back from him yet =( -

We had a group of 8 adults and 2 tinnies and everyone had a great time. Everything was well organized, straight forward, and easy on he move in as well as move out. Love the hot tub (though plexiglass over it was partially missing so sometimes snow would slide of the roof into the tub and cool it down a ton). Super easy walk to the main village and an easy ski-in ski-out.

VancouverGreat Place, Great Stay for Great Value
Left on 09/16/2011 for a stay in September 2011
I went up with 14 girls for my friend's stagette. From even before we arrived the experience was great. The contact in Whistler was very accomodating and let us check in early which was great as we had a lot of food needing a fridge! We were more than pleased with the place and it fit all 14 of us comfortably with a bed for everyone. Obviously our favourite feature was the private hot tub! We used the spacious kitchen to eat in one night, and were very happy to have parking included. Considering all that was included, the friendliness of the owners and staff, the place was extremely good value and quite close to the village. I would definitely go again.

The accomodations were fantastic and completely suitable for our group of 10 friends.
The unit was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the layout was very functional. The kitchen is well stocked (one of the best I have ever seen) and comfortable to cook in. The hot tub is just outside the livingroom door...very convenient! A real wood fireplace with lots of free wood supplied. Three bathrooms, 2 with showers, lots of hot water, tons of towels.
Ski in / Ski out ...only had to walk about 70 ft to get to the ski slopes.
Unit is located about 400 ft up the Blackcoomb "Villiage Run" ski slope...about a 10 min walk to the villiage. Excellent location...if you don't mind a small walk up hill to get back.
The skiing was amazing...we were extremely lucky and had fresh snow 5 out of 6 days!
Everyone on the trip raved about the accomodations.
Hot tub needs a new cover (very heavy), but that was easily managed.
