    Great views & super accommodation.

Left on 04/04/2011 for a stay in August 2010

Well this was our second visit, so we knew we liked the place before we got there. The cottage was spotlessly clean on arrival, and as we knew the sleeping arrangements we were quick to dump our things & head out to the stunning countryside. There are more varied walks than you could possibly do in a week, but with kind weather and glorious views we had a good go at getting in as many as we could.
The surrounding villages are quaint, chocolate box pretty & well worth a drive if only to experience the local cream tea's. The kids were kept relatively quiet as we managed to find enough to keep them happy as there a a good few local attractions within driving distance. Plenty of great pubs to eat at, & a couple of local shops to get provisions from should you feel the need to cook, and a supermarket not that far away.
We will definitely be going back again, if only to hear the steam train winding it way down the valley & watching it's smoke trails for miles. A much more relaxed holiday than we have been used to, and all the better for it.

Absolute luxury in a beautiful and convenient location.

Left on 03/25/2011 for a stay in August 2010

We have stayed in this property twice, going back because we enjoyed it so much. The cottage is beautifully presented, with equipment of very high quality - better than we have at home. The cottage is located close enough to the centre of Grosmont that you can walk to the railway station and take the North Yorks railway to Pickering or Whitby, yet far enough out of the village to allow complete privacy. The views from the cottage are stunning, and you can see and hear the steam trains running through the valley below. We divided out time between the railway and the coast; this cottage is very well situated for accessing all that the North York Moors have to offer. We loved it.

    Super location, super accommodation

Left on 03/14/2011 for a stay in June 2009

Lovely, spacious, well-furnished, spotlessly clean cottage. We particularly loved the large well appointed kitchen - dining area and the beautiful master bedroom with views over the valley. Lots to do and places to visit. We all enjoyed exploring up and down the steam railway routes from Grosmot to Pickering or down to Whitby.

The property was well presented . We had a warm welcome from lady next door who takes care of things. It was well equipped and spacious. There were good views over the valley from the front and a good but steep garden at the back and then a copse. My elderly mother was entranced by the wildlife that appeared when lady next door put food out.Grosmont is an excellent holiday base

My favourite holiday cottage of all time!

Left on 03/13/2011 for a stay in November 2010

I have been to this cottage twice a year since 2004. It is absolutely perfect for someone who likes beautiful scenery, and who needs a break from a hectic working life. The accommodation is spacious, well-equipped and more like a home than a holiday let. It is easy to book online. Both the owner and the caretaker are very friendly and helpful, and the view over the Esk valley is superb. There are steam trains running from the village, and there are plenty of scenic walks nearby. For anyone who likes discovering small market towns you will not be disappointed as Pickering, Malton and Whitby are within half an hour's drive, and York is about an hour away.

    North Yorkshire at its best

Left on 03/12/2011 for a stay in June 2010

This is a lovely cottage, great accommodation, well furnished at very well looked-after. There is room for everyone to be together in the kitchen/diner or the sitting room or in gardens (also well-maintained). Or everyone could do their own thing and enjoy the peace and quiet.

This is the ideal location for anyone who likes steam railways but has to travel with those who don't :-), as there is plenty to do within a very short distance apart from the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

Jean, who does the caretaking bit and who lives next door, was great and gave us a warm welcome. She kept a friendly eye on us during the week and was able to answer any questions we had.

We enjoyed our week so much in 2010 we're back for two this year.

    Superb accommodation, with beautiful views...

Left on 03/12/2011 for a stay in August 2009

Valley View Cottage is a spacious and well-appointed holiday cottage, clean throughout and with beautiful furniture and ample facilities. You really do feel as if you are away from it all whilst you are looking out onto the valley below, whether it be from the comfy lounge or the superbly fitted kitchen with all mod cons. Plenty of room for our party of six, would recommend this property having stayed in the North York Moors many times and in a variety of holiday lets; Valley View Cottage is one of the most memorable by far. Just up the hill from the main part of Grosmont, it is ideal for exploring the steam railway and the surrounding area, including the North Yorkshire coast which is a short drive away.

What you see is what you get

Left on 03/12/2011 for a stay in July 2010

This is an extremely well appointed cottage with everything that you could wish for. It's more like a holiday home than a holiday let with touches that you would not expect. For example, there are simple things like salt & pepper and spices. Cleaning materials etc. Guide and walking books for the area.

The housekepper lives next door and is always on hand for guidance and help.

We enjoyed sitting out at the front taking in the spectacular views. Beautiful unspoilt countryside (it's in the national park). We thought at times we were in Tuscany.

The website photographs and description are entirely correct and met more than our expectation.

    We will return!

Accommodation is excellent and scenery is charming. Great for steam rail enthusiasts and walkers.
Do need a car as local shops are not well stocked.

Would prefer some soft outdoor seating to relax in -
We have been here for a few years now -
