Description from the owner

Tucked away just off the centre of the village of Fylingthorpe is 2 Chapel Cottages. This is a building with a history. A charming stone built cottage, formerly a small village chapel but converted to its present use over a hundred years ago. The cottage is very well appointed, with a stylish modern kitchen, but retaining the character of the 1800's. Wesley is reputed to have preached at this chapel a number of times.

There is an entrance hall giving access to a homely lounge with gas stove and well appointed kitchen and bathroom. On the first floor there are two bedrooms. King size Double and Bunk beds. A truly characterful and charmi...Read more

Lovely clean cottage, well equipped, close to dog friendly pub and a five minute walk into Robin Hoods Bay. Everything you could possibly need. Great communication from the owners too. Nice to find a comfy retreat that accepts more than 2 small dogs with prior arrangement and doesn't charge the earth for it! Suitable sized TV & DVD. Comfy super king bed in master bedroom and bunk beds in 2nd bedroom with toys for kids. We have booked twice again after our first stay and will definitely use again and recommend to our friends.

A relaxing break in a beautiful area.

Left on 03/06/2013 for a stay in February 2013

We really enjoyed our visit to North Yorkshire were in a good position to explore both coast and countryside.
Chapel Cottage is comfortable and cosy with plenty of character. The kitchen is light and very well equiped and the whole cottage has a warm and pleasant feel to it.
It is situated close to a post office, shop and good local pub, which serves food and has a large beer garden. It is a short walk down into Robin Hood's Bay, so ideal for countryside lovers who want to walk, cycle or explore the rock pools on the water's edge.

      Excellent cosy cottage

Left on 10/22/2012 for a stay in October 2012

This is the third time we have stayed at this cottage and it feels like home from home. The cottage is very cosy and a great location. We stay with our spaniel and the pub opposite is dog friendly and serves lovely meals. We are almost locals! Would thoroughly recommend. The owners are also very helpful and amenable. We have only stayed in October and enjoy walking.

A well equipped home from home

Left on 09/23/2012 for a stay in July 2012

My family and I loved staying in the cottage. It was very well equippe and was opposite a fabulous pub which cooked amazing food even better than the so-called "best hotel in the area" in Robin Hoods Bay. Neighbours are very friendly as are people in the local shop. Bus service is good, literally 2 minutes into RHB. We will almost definitely be back. The only negative was the lack of parking, we felt we were in the way of the neighbopurs properties at times but that is only a tiny niggle. We loved it here so much we have decided to look around the area more with a view to moving here when our kids leave home.

      nice place

Left on 06/23/2012 for a stay in May 2012

The cottage was in good condition when we arrived, but very cold. After having understood the function of the timer of the heating, everything was o.k. The lovely cottage is very comfortable and well equipped. We would recommend to offer more cups und plates.

Our labrador liked the cottage, too, especially to take a nap in the little garden.

      Parking was sometimes difficult.

Good location, needs a little TLC

Left on 05/25/2012 for a stay in April 2012

Booking was simple, with very friendly staff on the phone. Everything was done via e-mail, which made life easier.
The cottage was in a great location and in reasonable condition. There were a few issues, one of which was lack of iron or hairdryer This was resolved immediately after a phone call to Robert Crosbie at Bumblewick. He couldn't have been more helpful.
The cleanliness of the cottage was not great, the shower screen fell off everytime you got in, no soap, no cleaning liquids for kitchen or bathroom, no sponges or washing up utensils, cobwebs on the doors and windowsills. This was down to poor housekeeping.
The kitchen was lovely, but lacked equipment. Only 4 plates, cups, bowls etc. No condiments or little extras such as salt, pepper, oil. Sachets of Tetley tea bags and Nescafe coffee seemed at odds with the Fair Trade statement in the Information.
A visitors book would have been handy - it's usually full of useful tips and recommendations. A few Dvds, an idiots guide to working the TV and a radio in the kitchen would be good.
Overall, we did enjoy our stay at Chapel Cottage, but it lacked the little touches that makes a holiday cottage a "home from home" experience.

We had a really nice stay at Chapel Cottage. The area is amazing. The local pub is great. Friendly people and excellent food. The cottage it's self is is charming with a really well stocked kitchen. The bed is so comfortable and huge. The cottage is situated in a really quite position. All you can hear are the birds singing.

What a fantastic cottage for a break away.Had a wonderful stay and would recommend to anyone, great location for walks in Robinhoods bay and a short drive from Whitby. We as a couple found it a lovely romantic retreat but would have had a just as a lovely time if we had brought our children. Definatly will be returning in the near future.

A good cottage for two people or a small family. Very comfortable indeed. There is a small garden which is rare for a property of this type in this particular area. Parking is on an adjacent street which has not caused us any problems in all the years that we have been coming to this cottage.
