A really lovely place to stay. I can't praise it enough! The kids loved running around the garden and there was plenty of space for them to play inside the house as well. The beds were comfortable and clean, the conservatory was an ideal place to relax and eat meals on warm days and the kitchen was spacious. We're already missing the beautiful views of the countryside from the back garden. Next time we're in Whitby we'll be staying here!

This is our first visit to this 2 bedroomed bungalow.. and it wont be our last. This is an absolute gem of a property. It's very clean, bright , well presented, and the twin beds were comfortable. The views are fantastic, although these are in danger of being interupted in future due to pending building work of new houses in the field next door. We are led to believe there is a great deal of oposition to this from the local residents apparently. But for now , sitting out in the comfortable conservatory is a very relaxing experience surrounded by glorious countryside.
We found anne, the owner of the property, to be most helpful and friendly. We appreciated her thoughtfulness in supplying milk, tea, coffee and locally made biscuits to welcome us. -

Owner lives on same road and was helpfull and friendly without being intrusive
Bungalow is situated on the outskirts of Whitby so takes about 25 minuts to walk to the centre but ts a very pleasent walk-although slightly uphill on way back!
Tip-make a note of directions to it as its on a small estate and we got lost!! -

We've just returned from our second stay at the bungalow, and definitely plan to return. The owners have thought of everything that guests could need and I can't fault the accommodation at all. A really comfortable place to stay.

I styaed here for a short break with my elderly parents and young daughter. We had everything we needed. This warm welcoming bungalow is situated in quiet yet acessible area of Whitby . No expense has been spared. All furniture and fittings are top class and includes a wonderful collection of Dvds books, and games, large private garden, and conservatory and wonderful views. Everything for everybody. I could be tempted not to tell anyone and then it might be avialable next time we want to stay!

The service we received was very good. There was a welcome pack of tea and coffee, biscuits and a pint of milk in the fridge.
Staying here was extremely comfortable, with everything you could possibly need. Games, dvds, towels, bed linen,Sky TV.
It is also very peaceful with great views from the conservatory and back bedrooms.
It is in a great location, very accessible to the centre of Whitby, whether by bus, car or on foot.
If you take your car you are in the town centre within 5 minutes. On foot it takes about 15-20 mins.
I stayed here with my 3 daughters who aged between 9 and 25 and they loved the house very much. They said it was just like being at home and felt very comfortable.
There wasn`t anything we didn`t like about the house and we highly recommend it to couples or families.
Mrs Dover was very friendly whether it was by email or in person.
When we visit Whitby again, we will defintely stay at this here again. -

We have stayed in Whitby many, many times but this was definitely the best place by far. Arriving after a long week at work, we were delighted to find the house warm and welcoming and we will be coming back for sure! Our only complaint was that the weekend went far too quickly!!

A spacious and well equipped bungalow situated in a residential location on the outskirts of Whitby town, with a 15 minute walk to the centre of the town. The garden backs onto open wheat fields with views across open country.

The bungalow was very clean, spacious, light and quiet and made an excellent base for us for a few days with our young baby visiting the region. Having a drive and car port was very useful. The welcome pack was just what we needed after our journey and introduced us to Botham's tea biscuits, which are outstanding. Anne was a pleasure to deal with throughout. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and this base contributed significantly to our enjoyment.

Stayed here with two friends for the Goth weekend in October 2010. Great place, good location 10-20 walk to Whitby town. Clean and maintained to a high standard. Well equipped kitchen with all amenities. Arrived after a long drive to Whitby tea and cookies. Gorgeous.
Ann was extremely pleasant and great to deal with on all levels. Great communication prior to and during stay. When I go back to Whitby I hope this place is available for rental again. Highly recommended. -

The bungalow has the most fantastic views across the Eskdale Valley. It was quiet and peaceful there, but still only 25 minutes walk from the bustling centre of Whitby. The bungalow is well equipped, tastefully furnished, and a real 'home away from home'. My sister and I could happily have lived there permanently.

Stayed in august with grandchildren, very peaceful location, stunning views across the Esk Valley. Enclosed garden very private. Perfect base for the coast and inland trips or just to soak up the peace and quiet of the location with a good book.
Welcome pack much appreciated after a 6 hour journey with a baby. Anne is a good host and there if you need her.
Will definitely re-visit and recommend. -

We chose this bungalow as we have a two year old toddler. It was perfect for our needs. Our son had the full run of the house and garden with no stairs and stairgates to worry about. A travel cot and highchair was available but as it happened we needed neither.
The bungalow is very spacious, clean and mostly modern throughout. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything you could possibly need to cook with. Some nice touches were also provided such as tea, coffee & sugar, kitchen roll, cleaning products incl washing up liquid and a hoover (quite useful when you have a messy toddler!)
The conservatory is fabulous. We ate all our meals in there and the view is amazing!
We stayed here a week and it was a perfect location for exploring the North Yorkshire Coast. There is a local convenience store two streets away, which doesn't stock a lot but is useful for milk, papers and canned goods. There is another on the main road, a two minute drive away.
Unexpected highlights were a DVD library of films and a selection of books and games. The only improvement I could suggest is to make the garden a little more secure for a toddler. The double gates at the front were a little rickety and there is a gap at the side in the bushes which we had to plug with a wheelie bin! -

I couldn't believe we found such a great place to stay during May Half-Term week. I came across Eskdale Hideaway on Tripadvisor and contacted anne, the booking process was very straight forward.
On arrival we loved what we saw, even better than the website! The rooms were clean, modern yet cosy, comfy sofas in the lounge and relaxing chairs in the conservatory, the views were amazing we loved spending time in the conservatory looking out over the countryside, the garden was great for this too. Our boys ages 8yrs and 5yrs found a cupboard full of toys for them to play with so they were more than happy!
Anne is very friendly and approachable, we had a small problem with the shower during our stay, we contacted anne in the morning and the problem was fixed that afternoon.
Whitby and the surrounding areas are beautiful with so much to do. We'd love to go back some day as we feel like we've only just scratched the surface. I wouldn't hesitate on booking on Eskdale Hideaway for a 2nd (3rd or 4th...) stay and I've already recommended it to my friends.
This is a holiday home which is going to be hard to beat! -

This property thoroughly deserves it's 5 star rating. The bungalow is in a quiet cul-de-sac with panoramic views for miles at the rear but is conveniently placed for exploring Whitby and the surrounding area.
The propety was welcoming, well equiped and very spacious and the host is very friendly and considerate. I wish all properties we stayed at were as comfortable. I have happily passed on the contact details to friends and family who have in turn booked themselves.
It's a property we will certainly be returning to and would recommend anyone to make this their first choice - Seeing is definitely believing. -

My partner and I had a lovely week staying at Eskdale Hideaway. It really is a home from home with everything you need to hand. Anne, the owner was very friendly and approachable. The welcome pack we found on arrival was also a nice touch. The views from the bungalow are amazing and it is so peaceful. We enjoyed spending time sitting out in the garden and relaxing in the conservatory. The kitchen was modern and well equipped. We cooked a number of meals during our stay. The bed deserves a special mention, as both of us had some of the best sleep we've had in a long time.
The bungalow is in a great location. Within easy walking distance to Whitby town centre. There is also a regular bus service we used, which stops close by. One day we walked along the coast to Robin Hood's Bay, which is also well worth a visit. It was handy having parking too, as we drove to Scarborough for a day trip and visited the picturesque villages in the North York Moors national park which make up 'Heartbeat' country.
Whitby itself is beautiful. We enjoyed walking on the beach and visiting the small independent shops on Church Street. Climbing the 199 steps and taking a boat trip. We had some great meals out at some quality restaurants, as well as trying some of Whitby's famous fish and chips!
Our week was over all too soon. We hope to return to Whitby again later this year and when we do we'll be booking Eskdale Hideaway. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and now can't imagine staying anywhere else!
