Peaceful, relaxing, beautiful and genuine Kiwi hospitality!

Ever wanted to stay in a serene cottage in the middle of an orchard? Te Maru fits the bill. The owners Sue and Derek were lovely in welcoming us to their secret corner of New Zealand. Conveniently a 10 minute drive to the famous hot pools of Hot Water Beach, the cottage still seemed like a nice escape from other tourists and the real world. Waking up to the natural sunset and a simple and delicious continental breakfast in a full kitchen (just let them know you're keen) was such a treat. We saw ducks in the pond making heart shapes and played with their super cute and friendly Fox Terrier "Rimu" in the fields. They have a beautifully architected home and the separate quaint cottage with a nice hot shower and toilet and comfy queen bed is where you stay, nestled in the peaceful New Zealand countryside. It was definitely a great relaxing bookend to our trip to Hot Water Beach.

Didn't want to leave, definitely coming back.

My wife and I along with our two children had Hot Water Beach on our must-do list when we knew we were heading to that area. We stayed at Te Maru Cottage which was perfectly located up the hill from the beach which gave it very nice views. We loved it. My 11 year old son described the gardens and orchards as "heaven". The grounds were beautifully maintained - like our own private botanical gardens. We picked plums, avocados, walnuts and macadamia nuts. The owners, Sue and Derek, could not have been nicer. We didn't want to leave but we are definitely coming back.
