      A perfect getaway

Left on 04/23/2013 for a stay in April 2013

Came here for my 30th birthday with my partner and we had an amazing time. We loved the home cinema system, the privacy and the comfy bed. In addition, the jacuzzi bath was fantastic! The apartment is located in a great situation in close distance of shops and a picturesque 10mins walk into Whitstable. The beach was literally around the corner and we could see the sea from the roof terrace. Hope to come again soon!

      Amazing place!

Left on 03/18/2013 for a stay in March 2013

Just spent a weekend at the Oyster Lounge. It was exactly what we wanted. Beautiful apartment, jacuzzi being the best feature for us along with the welcome pack :) Well equipped for us to cook for ourselves but there were lots of options for eating out too. We went to the fish market and got some oysters and fresh fish for dinner one night - a real treat.

We dont have a car so were looking for somewhere easy to get to and with things to do that were close and this fit the bill exactly! Although, we didnt really want to do much.

Michelle and Chris were both lovely in our dealings with them and we would whole-heartedly recommend this place for a stay! Will be back soon.

Left on 02/23/2013 for a stay in February 2013

Me and my daughter (12) wanted to escape London wirh our dog and just relax. The Oyster Lounge and its location provided us with exactly what we had umagined. Lovely, charming apartment with every comfort ie jacuzzi, comfy bed, cinema style tv, warmth, roof terrace and more. We loved the street it was on wirh dog parlour, butchers, charity shops, restaurants, cafes, supermarket etc. One road down ie 5 minutes there is the sea. We walked along the beautoful coast to Whitstable and back with dog, stopping for fish and chips in dog friendly pub. Perfect.

      Lovely and cosy!

Left on 01/02/2013 for a stay in December 2012

We stayed at the Oyster Lounge over the New Year weekend and felt immediately at home. Lovely property with cool quirky things, like the ship's wheel to lower the ladder to access the rooftop - we even managed to catch one sunset there! The fireplace added to the cosy feel and the kitchen was really well equipped with champagne flutes etc...perfect for romantic celebration! The downstairs butchers sells great steaks and the walk to Whitstable Harbour for fresh seafood and fish is so pretty! All in all we had lovely stay and will definitely be coming back to stay here!

      Lovely romantic bolt-hole

Left on 11/26/2012 for a stay in November 2012

my boyfriend and I booked the Oyster Lounge for a romantic weekend away after reading such great reviews of it and certainly weren't disappointed. The apartment was clean and warm (important on a freezing cold November weekend!) and we were surprised and happy to find a bottle of bubbly waiting for us in the fridge, which was a nice touch. The jacuzzi bath exceeded expectations and the little ladder leading up to to the roof terrace was great fun. Bed was very comfy and the cinema system was brilliant - our little TV now seems very small indeed!

I was slightly worried about the location prior to booking, as it is a little way outside Whitstable, but in fact we were happy with it. It was a 15 minute walk into town and in nice weather I'm sure that walking along the seafront would be lovely. In addition, Tankerton is home to a really lovely restaurant called JoJo's, where we whiled away a couple of rainy hours having a delicious lunch, as well as a couple of decent pubs.

Michelle, the owner, was very helpful throughout the process and returned my deposit the day we left, which was brilliant.

If you are looking for a romantic bolt hole away from it all then I'd recommend this place wholeheartedly.

      Great apartment

Left on 10/15/2012 for a stay in October 2012

Lovely place with some nice quirky features, in particular the ladder up the roof deck area. The jacuzzi bath was great, and to be honest better than I had expected, and the place as a whole is very comfortable and well thought out. Beds slightly on the soft side for us, but perhaps not for others.
Loved Whitstable and it's high street - in particular the many independant butchers, grocers, bakers etc, which was a pleasant change from the usual choice.

      Pure relaxation

Left on 09/23/2012 for a stay in September 2012

We stayed from Mon-Fri and had a wonderful time. The apartment is beautifully furnished and has some fantastic features - especially the ship wheel which lowers the staircase to the roof terrace!

We loved the jacuzzi (thank you for the wine), the kitchen was well equipped and the lounge was extremely relaxing. After a walk on the beach (90 seconds away) and dinner we spent most evenings watching a DVD on the projector!

There's a bakers and a greengrocers just outside, Whitstable is a 2 minute drive away and Canterbury about 20.

      We'd definitely stay again

Left on 09/03/2012 for a stay in August 2012

We booked this last minute and from the moment we walked in we were really pleased we had chosen this flat to stay in. It was clean, spacious, comfortable and had everything you need. The jacuzzi was very relaxing and the loft hatch into the roof terrace was fun. It was great that we were able to bring our dog with us too. The only very small thing which may have put us off booking it was the £200 deposit as we haven't had to do this before. We would definitely stay here again.

A beautiful, well-appointed and luxurious apartment

Left on 08/24/2012 for a stay in August 2012

The apartment was beautifully planned and appointed: the kitchen, whilst small, made good use of the space and was easy to use with the archway/hatch providing a little extra necessary worktop space. The finish of the apartment is quite wonderful, the beds are comfy, the roof area and jacuzzi and rainfall shower are very luxurious. We didn't really find time to use the projector screen which was a shame!
There were milk and flowers and some little treats to greet us, which were very welcome.
We bought some gorgeous cake from the shop below.
We sat out on the roof looking at the sea, and the beach and slopes are a 2 minute walk away, as are the shops.
Michelle was a delightfully helpful and pleasant contact.
We were able to bring our small dog with us which was a great plus, so many places are not pet-friendly.
I would happily - in fact, eagerly! - stay here again.

      The downsides:
Parking was slightly stressful in that the carpark where we had a 'designated' space was full when we first arrived (but this was regatta weekend) so we had to squeeze in a very tight spot later on. This is in no way something the owners can do anything about and has to be expected in a town where parking is occasionally crazy.
My only complaint, which is extremely minor and should not put you off staying here, is that if you want bright overhead lights you will be happy. If, like us, you like some lamps, then you will have to take your own. Of the 4 lamps we found none worked, even if we swapped the bulbs around.

      A real gem

Left on 07/23/2012 for a stay in July 2012

Never been to Whitstable before apart from canoeing round into the harbour back in 1975!! Went with my wife, two daughters and their partners and it was the most perfect accommodation for us all. Comfortable, well-appointed, handily placed for a really attractive part of the resort and within easy and enjoyable walking distance to the Oyster Festival which was the main reason for our visit.
The leaving of an 'arrival pack' of some food, milk, bread etc is a really nice touch and you have very easy access to shops that are well resourced to support beach activities and the inevitable beach picnics. Beds great, bathroom fun [as is the shower!] and all set up for a seaside stay with comfortable settees, good TV, a well resourced kitchen and a really quaint ladder mechanism up to a rooftop table.
Would definitely recommend the facility to anyone.

A little bit of luxury made for a relaxing break

Left on 07/14/2012 for a stay in July 2012

A beautiful and welcoming flat which had all that we could have hoped for. The kitchen was very well equipped and the welcome pack was a great touch. The furnishings were comfortable and the TV screen on the wall was easy to watch. The bed was very comfortable. The Jacuzzi bath was great and as there was plenty of hot water was well used.
The location is lovely and it was great to be able to just walk along the road for fresh bread, fresh local fruit and veg and good quality meat. There are a number of takeaways and restaurants along the road and a Tesco right opposite. The cakery is a lovley little cafe with a very friendly welcome and as it is right down stairs form Oyster Lounge, is very convenient.
Sea front is very close and a walk along to Whitstable was most pleasant. The bus stops just up the road with good access to the nearby towns.
We had a really relaxing break and really enjoyed our wonderful little hide away.

Spent a long weekend here. Couldn't fault the accommodation which has been thoughtfully and ingeniously equipped by the owners. A welcome pack and fresh flowers are a considerate touch. The central heating instructions defeated us and the owner came round very quickly to switch it on. Perfect relaxing weekend away

Left on 03/05/2012 for a stay in March 2012

We had a lovely relaxing weekend at the Oyster lounge. The accomodation was exactly what we had hoped. Although there were plenty of places to eat nearby, the kitchen was brilliantly equipped to cook so we decided to buy some fresh fish from the harbour and meat from the butchers next door and feast indoors instead!
The standard of the accomodation was brilliant and I definitely hope to visit this or other properties provided by Michelle and Chris in the future.
Although the accomodation allows dogs you would not have guessed a dog had ever stepped foot inside, very clean and in great condition. Our dog loved the place...especially as it was so close to the beach!
Although we enjoyed lovely sunshine, the Oyster lounge is the perfect little get away whatever the weather, the jacuzzi bath and log burner were perfect for a cosy indoor retreat.

Left on 02/15/2012 for a stay in February 2012

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Oyster Lounge for a long weekend to celebrate our anniversary, and had an amazing time! The apartment is beautiful and very cosy, and decorated to such a high standard but still has a really rustic feel to it. The log burner was great and was lovely on a cold evening and really made our trip very romantic, exactly what we wanted it to be. The Jacuzzi was brilliant, really easy to use and added a real element of luxury. The little crow's nest roof area was great and the view of the sea was lovely, even when the temp was below 0 degrees! The location of the apartment is great, easy to walk to the beach and the shops with lots of choice of places to eat and drink. The evening entertainment at The Old Neptune was really good and the whole town had a really friendly atmosphere. I couldn't recommend the Oyster Lounge enough! There was some little extra touches that really made our trip special, the milk, tea and fresh bread already purchased for us was welcomed after a long train journey.
I can't wait to book another stay in a few months time!

A comfortable apartment that was difficult to leave.

Left on 01/15/2012 for a stay in January 2012

The communication process with Kent cottage holidays was always very easy with all questions answered promptly.
Checking in and picking up the keys required no effort on our part.
On arrival the apartment was clean with a welcome pack awaiting us. It was furnished to a good standard with comfortable furniture and a well kitted out kitchen. We were there in January and found the apartment warm and cosy. The extras such as the cinema projector screen, Jacuzzi bath and log fire gave it a feel of luxury.
The apartment is set in Tankerton high street where there are a few take always a couple of restaurants, a very good wine shop, a good flower shop and a Tesco express. It is a short walk from the sea and about 20-25 minutes stroll from Whitstable.
All in all we had a really good time and will definitely be going again either to the same apartment or one of their other properties.

Left on 10/10/2011 for a stay in September 2011

Stayed at the Oyster Lounge for 4 days with my wife & 6 old month baby and had a lovely time. It's not much to look at from the outside (being above a parade of shops) but the inside has been designed & decorated beatifully. We made full use of the luxuries (jacuzzi each morning and wine on the roof terrace each evening !)

The home cinema with surround sound was a real pleasure and the deep sofas were perfect for lounging back in.

Location was good - Tankerton Road has a nice array of shops & restaurants and its all very low key. We heard the butcher a few times in the morning but was generally very peaceful & quiet.
A couple of minor problems - on arrival it took us a while to find the entrance (the red door round the front). Also, there are three controls required to work the home cinema and the wrong intsructions were provided in the welcome pack. We rang Chris and he was round in 5 minutes but we had already wasted half an hour by then.
And a suggestion - a high chair to go with the travel cot provided would have been useful for us. Other than that it was all good and we hope to return again some time soon.

Recommend the chinese restaurant Yantzee and the Fish & Chip shop Seychelles (both within 100 yards of Oyster lounge).

      Wonderful Weekend!

Left on 09/25/2011 for a stay in September 2011

I was looking forward to trying this holiday flat for myself, having seen some excellent reviews. It lived up to my expectation, in the thoughtful (and quirky) touches which had been added to give it the unique character it has. The positive side to it's location is the convenience for shops and restaurants in Tankerton High Street. Unfortunately the down side was that there was a fair amount of noise in the early hours of the morning from latecomers returning from their night out walking up the road and not giving consideration to those already trying to sleep! Maybe this was a one-off and we were unlucky as there was no mention of this problem from any other reviews which I have seen. This experience wouldn't put me off visiting again though,as all in all we had a wonderful weekend, and the beautiful weather was such a bonus!

Arrived at the Oyster Lounge on the Friday afternoon to be greeted with a welcome pack which was very nice. The apartment was very clean and well laid out. The biggest draw to booking the Oyster Lounge was the Jacuzzi bath, it didnt disapoint and was great, especially after a long walk along the coastline.

Location - Although initially a little disapointed with location as we wanted to be closer to Whitstable centre, we actually enjoyed Tankerton. Good array of shops and restaurants and being just off the seafront was great access for our dog.

The welcome box on arrival gives all the necessities for evening and morning one, there is shopping close by including a butcher, cake shop and then in Whitstable there is the most amazing variety of fresh fish available at the harbour. Restaurants abound and the beach is so close you are almost on it.

Just what we were looking for!

Left on 04/14/2011 for a stay in April 2011

Oyster lounge was just what we were looking for. Very clean & tidy, The beds were very comfortable as was the living room, The kitchen was very well equiped with a nice surprise of a welcome pack of basics, milk butter etc. The bathroom was very clean but found the Jacuzzi just too big & took an age to fill. A parking space is provided but nearly got blocked in one the first day. Overall we had a great holiday at oyster lounge & would recommend it to anyone.

Great hideaway with wood burner and great beach access.

Left on 03/17/2011 for a stay in March 2011

This apartment has great design features - with an exceptional eye for detail. From a wonderful log burning fire - to the huge jacuzzi! With the beach a small walk away and Whitstable a short drive - this proved a great weekend hideaway.
My only criticism is if you want to watch Dvds in the day time - the roof light shines light on the projector screen which makes watching movies difficult. Other than that I thoroughly recommend it!!

Hi Robert Thanks for pointing this out. Chris has now made something to block the light from the roof light. Kind regards Michelle

Cosy, home from home. Perfect. Lovely extras

Left on 03/10/2011 for a stay in March 2011

Unfortunately, a family funeral bought us to Tankerton. However, the warmth of the accommodation made a perfect retreat for our family to just be together in front of the fire, sharing happy memories. For us the location was perfect as it was a street or two away from many family friends. Chris and Michelle's service was excellent. The bulb went in the projector one night and within 15 mins it was replaced and up and running again! My only slight wish list is insulation under the floor boards to muffle the noise from the ground floor (but I live in the country so am not used to any noise!!). Many thanks Michelle and Chris, it was the perfect retreat we as a family needed and the welcome pack and flowers were a lovely touch. Hopefullyt be down again soon for more trips down memory lane.

      Cosy, homely, and well equipped!

Left on 02/20/2011 for a stay in February 2010

I stayed at the Oyster Lounge for 2 nights in February with my partner and baby son. The place looks nice in the pictures, but we both were very impressed when we got there - the pictures don't really do it justice. The whole place had a very homely feel to it, with a good layout and a very well equipped kitchen. Various treats i.e. wine, popcorn, chocolates etc are always nice to arrive to and the bath and shower were amazing! A travel cot was provided, which is also a bonus. The roof terrace was a novelty, although being February, couldn't really take advantage of it, but I imagine it would be lovely in the summer. Nothing really negative to say about this place!

      Perfect stay!

The Oyster lounge is a wonderful apartment where me, my wife and small baby stayed for 4 nights.

Nice atmosphere, perfect jacuzzi, well equipped kitchen (no dishwasher), washing machine, nice living room with the projector and dolby surround set and so on.
And no to forget the welcome box with food and drinks.

Located above a nice new cakery at Tankerton Road, good for a nice scone and capuccino.

Although described, there is no sea view from any room. There is from the roof, but you will only get there when the weather is really good.

We did a bit of walking and relaxing in the Whitstable area, there is far more to do than possible within a couple of days. A recommendation for sure!

      A very Pampered stay

Left on 01/11/2011 for a stay in January 2011

This is the third property of Michelle and Chris's that I have been lucky enough to stay at, and once again, it was immaculately presented, stylish, with every detail from the planning of the available space, to the furnishings within, carefully thought out.
As soon as you get into Oyster Lounge, you want to snuggle up and chill out andtake advantage of the huge home cinema system and big double bath.
I will definitely return and thoroughly enjoyed every second of it.

      lovely weekend away

I would have loved to given everything a 5 out of 5 but just wish that we could have checked in earlier. The oyster lounge was beautiful, comfortable and homely, there were many very clever and cool touches that added to its beauty such as the ship like steering wheel used to get the ladder down, the roof terrace was magical, loved the jacuzzi and shower above, the bottle of champagne and fresh flowers on arrival, the location was great, Whitstable is a beautiful place, and the tesco store across the road was handy, and still very quiet. we have stayed with kent-cottage-holidays before and most certainly will again.

      Oyster Lounge

We had a fantastic couple of nights at the Oyster Lounge just after Christmas. It is a beautiful apartment and we felt completely looked after by Michelle, the owner. Everything was brand new and top quality; the log burner and jacuzzi were brilliant after freezing walks on the beach, just a stone's throw away! We would love to stay here again, perhaps when the weather is better so we could enjoy the views from the roof garden!
