Description from the manager
Cottage Profile Very private, modern, 1000 square foot cottage on the popular Bass Lake, and inland lake central to both the Owen Sound and Wiarton areas. The entire living space is on the upper level of the cottage. The open concept design combined with the numerous windows in the central space of the cottage creates an airy atmosphere, accented by the hardwood floors that run throughout the main living space. Relax on the sofa in front of the woostove and enjoy the TV with VCR and DVD player on those days that the weather keeps you indoors. The living room opens into the dining area with a harvest table and seating for eight. Here you will...Read more

Niagara Falls, ON.Best weather in August
Left on 11/11/2009 for a stay in August 2009
Our stay was weather wise excellent, the family really enjoyed the area and scenery.
The boys enjoyed swimming and fishing in the lake and the trail to the lake was steep but well maintained.
Our first night was eventful as there was a bat in the house we had to trap and release it back outside.
All the amenities in the house were good and well kept.
There are 2 matters first the amount of cleaning expected before departure, we washed and cleaned everything and found several areas where previous guests didn't clean as well. Secondly, some more comfortable mattresses on the beds would be good.
Other than these minor details everything made for an enjoyable August vacation on Bass Lake.
Thank you for the hospitality. -

Windsor, OntarioBeautiful Place in a Beautiful Setting
Left on 09/10/2009 for a stay in July 2009
This is a new place that is more like a house than a cottage. The kitchen, bathroom, and bedrooms were all very nice. The outside surroundings were beautiful. We loved fishing off the dock. I wish we could have gone swimming there, but it seemed too rocky, especially for young kids. Overall, a great place, except for the garbage issue. We couldn't dispose of ours on site because of bears, so we had to take it to a dump that wasn't open at a convenient time and it was located on a route that was closed due to construction. It would have been nice if the owners had some type of pick-up service or bear-proof arrangement.Lots of places to visit nearby. My family loved the place and the location on a quiet and scenic inland lake.

This beautiful cottage has great swimming for those who are experienced swimmers as the lake is deep.
On the cottage profile we do mention the following:
"The lake is deep off the dock. There is a spot next to the dock where
kids and pets can wade in but it is mostly rock's and not really a play area. Swim Shoes are recommended. Shoreline is not suitable for toddlers."
There is also ladder on the dock for those swimmers who would prefer to ease into the water rather than jump off the dock or wade in over the rocky shoreline.
The cottage is set in a wooded area which is a natural habitat to bears, however seeing them in the vicinity of the cottage is rare as they usually only venture out into the open if there is a food source available to them like garbage. As a preventative measure to discourage the bears, we ask our renters to take their garbage to the landfill to dispose of it rather than have it kept outside in a container.
The address, directions, and hours for the landfill are given to our
renters 30 days prior to their rental and the owner also has these posted at the cottage. We have been informed the construction on the road leading to the landfill has been completed.

This cottage was very clean, beautifully decorated, the fabulous deck, no bugs, great scenery, all amenities. Only change I would recommend would be more comfortable beds. Otherwise, definitely a 10!
