Great amenities, nice layout, beautiful grounds - units need som

Left on 04/30/2013 for a stay in April 2013

We have a great time at this resort because of the amenities and location. The beds are comfortable and it is nice to have two bathrooms and laundry inside units. Unfortunately this year the unit we were in had some major issues. The dishwasher almost feel out of the cupboard as it was not attached to the cupboard or countertop. The toilet in the one bathroom leaked, we lost hot water and I had to take a cold shower after swimming. There was a stain on the underside of our couch cushion that I had to request be replaced. The msg indicator light on the phone didn't work and we missed a msg from our daughter. So we had maintenance up to our unit on numerous occasions. The maintenance staff are excellent and very courteous and helpful. The cleaning staff on the other hand has shown some improvement over last year but they still need to step it up a little in a few areas. They don't seem to work as a team with their maintenance staff to notify them of issues that they encounter when cleaning. The issue with our dishwasher should have been caught by the cleaning staff when they emptied it after the last time the unit was used and yet they didn't report it. Like I said the resort is really nice they also have stopped charging for extras like dish soap and toilet paper. So you no longer have to pay once you have used up the complimentary supply. I had always brought my own so I didn't have to ask for extra. That being said we were notified that they will be refurbishing all the units with new furniture and appliances come this September.. I am sure that will make a huge difference. They should probably replace their sheets as they are starting to look a little tired.

      "Valentines's Day Weekend Getaway"

Left on 02/17/2013 for a stay in February 2013

Me and my partner arrived at this resort on the evening of Valentine's Day. This was our first time at this resort. As soon as you check in, they then direct you to another counter to receive your parking permit, a map, and of course to schedule you for a 60 minute session what they call "Bragging Rights". They claim its not a sale pitch. Afterwards, we checked in a two bedroom which was nicely decorated with the colonial style look. Everything in the room seemed nice so far. So we decided to eat dinner and drinks out that evening. Then we came back to the room to relax, watch a movie, and prepare for bed. The next morning, we decided to get ready and go for a drive. While getting ready, I noticed several bites on the side of both of my arms (front and back), bites on my back, and bites on my legs. Then later on during the day my partner started to develop bites on her arm and legs. So we decided to go the welcome center and speak with a rep there. Instead of the rep making a decision to place us in another unit. He stated that he would call Security for a report on this and that it would be up to Security on being placed to another unit. Which didn't make since, the rep and the welcome center didn't want to make a decision. So, we waited for Security so they can take photos and a report. Afterwards, we approached the rep again and then he decided to place us in another unit. The rep stated that once we move everything over to the other unit to bring back the other key card so maintenance can go check that unit. They rep called about an hour later to confirm "Bed Bugs" for that unit. The rep stated to put clothes in the dryer and that they will drop off plastic bags for luggage to be picked up that evening. The luggage wasn't picked up until the following afternoon when I called them. We decided to checked out a day early as soon as our luggage returned. It clearly shows that this issue is common to this resort because they failed to respond quickly to this matter.

      Great Location - Nice ammenities

Left on 09/05/2012 for a stay in August 2012

The condo complex had a wonderful location to Williamsburg, the Historic Triangle, Busch Gardens and Water Country USa. Groceries, stores and restaurants were also conviently located nearby. Our kids loved the arcade, miniture golf and pool. I liked that everything within the complex was an easy walk and included in our rental so we could just enjoy the ammenities. The pool got very crowded in the afternoon and evening which made lap swimming near impossible and the adult pool was too small for lap swimming. I also liked the cross between a "hotel" stay and a condo rental. Towels, linens and travel sized soap, shampoos, salt & pepper, dish detergent, laundry detergent, etc. were provided which really helped with packing as well as the cost associated with buying all those things that you wouldn't possibly use up during a week's vacation. The condo was comfortable and clean and the beds had great matresses. The only thing I didn't like was that the 2nd bedroom was extremely small and had a queen size bed in it. If you are traveling with children who can't or won't share a bed there is no room on the floor for an air matress or anything so they'll be sleeping on the floor of the master bedroom or in the living area on the sofabed. The room did have enough space for two pack and plays (which you can borrow at the complex on a first come basis) but it makes for a full room. You also can rent the adjoining condo, but of course that doubles your housing budget. We stayed for 2 weeks and at check in requested and were able to be placed in a unit where we would not have to move. However, it did bother me that when we made the reservation, they could not guarantee that we would not have to change condos after the first week. Overall, a comfortable stay, but then again, we weren't really in the condo that much - too busy out enjoying all the historic triangle, amusement parks and other area sights have to offer.

      Mostly positive

Left on 09/02/2012 for a stay in July 2012

The suite was everything we expected. Big, clean and the kitchen was fully stocked. The walk up two flights was not so bad since we did anticipate it. Upon check-in the receptionist was very pleasant did push the talk for the time share. When I politely declined she pushed very hard and then became instantly cold. A better business move would have been to continue being polite because now for sure I wouldn't want to attend. We had only one other negative. My 18 year old daughter went to get ping pong paddles for her and her fifteen year old sister while I showered back at the room. The activities director didn't think she was 18 and was very derogatory towards her saying, "who are you kidding, you're not 18". He had left by the time i got there, and when I spoke to his superior the next day, nothing was done. The accommodations were great, but the attitude of some of the people there left something to be desired.

Had no problems with the check-in, we were asked to fill out a demographic paper for the buyers update so I told the very nice lady that we would not be particpating in the time share presentation and then she gave us our parking pass and we did not hear anything about it again. Unit was perfect- super clean and large, great kitchen, bathrooms and washer/dryer. Kids loved the arcades and pools. Movies were booked before we arrived but the have a large collection of dvds to rent. Very close to all attractions. Will be back next year.

Very nice resort - great for the kids

Left on 08/14/2012 for a stay in July 2012

We stayed in the smaller unit, with 1 bedroom and pull out sofa with partial kitchen. My children are 6 and 8 years of age and this was just enough room for the 4 of us. Great amenities - mini put, arcades, mini movie theatre, indoor/outdoor pool - very close to excellent, affordable restaurants, Colonial Williamsburg, shopping etc., I recommend this to others. Very clean resort with friendly staff. Do not get sucked in to the Wyndham points presentation - the 4 people who descended on us were very pushy and when I repeatly asked for things to be in print, such could not be produced.

Left on 08/03/2012 for a stay in July 2012

We stayed in a 2BR/2Ba & it was, for the most part, a great place. The two complaints would be that (1) there was not enough parking spaces for all the units & (2) if you stay in a lower unit, the people above you may not be mindful of people under them - hence, if you would like to take an afternoon nap, it may not work out b/c it sounds like a herd of elephants running through your bedroom.

      Fun Stay for Everyone

Left on 07/10/2012 for a stay in July 2012

We had 5 adults staying at Kingsgate and we all had a nice time. The grounds are nicely kept and the hotel sits close enough to everything, you'll never have to go far to find something interesting to do. We enjoyed having the pond out our back door with all the wildlife it had to offer, from ducks and geese to frogs, turtles and the occasional deer. The only bad experience we had were noisy inconsiderate neighbors that did their wash at 5am, vacuumed at 6am, let their kids run marathons starting at 6:30am and then they would start back up at 11:45pm that night.

      Ok, for the right price

Left on 05/03/2012 for a stay in April 2012

We stayed here over Spring break after receiving a rate that was too good to pass up. Upon entering, the first thing we noticed was the the "security" gate was open with no one checking who enters. We figured this was because it was day time, but during our stay we came back fairly late in the evening to find the gate still open to all. Not a big deal, just a bit odd.
Upon check in we were immediately told that we would be guests at a special catered breakfast, which would only take an hour of our vacation time in order for them to try and sell us a time share. In exchange we would receive a two night vacation in one of their other time share locations. When we told the lady that we would not be attending, she seemed offended, but did not press the issue.
The rooms were probably nice when the resort was originally built, but they could use some renovations now. The biggest issue is that the beds are not at all comfortable. The sleeper sofa in particular was unbearable. Our ten year old ended up sleeping on the actual sofa rather than pulling the bed out.
Other than the beds, the room was adequate.
Amenities are another issue. On site, they have an indoor pool, outdoor pool, mini golf, tennis and two arcades. Sounds great, but in reality, unless you use these in the early afternoon, when most people are out and about, the amenities can not handle the large amount of rooms in the resort. The indoor pool was wall to wall every night. It was so bad that neither our 10 year old or our 15 year old even wanted to use it (and they love to swim). I have to assume this improves in the summer, when more people utilize the outdoor (and much larger) pool area.
The arcades in the evening are packed like sardines, and with no time limits on the machines, finding an open game to play was a futile effort.
We did go back late one morning and were able to use the pool and arcade with minimal crowds.
Overall, for the price we paid (less than eighty dollars a night) it was a pretty good value and Williamsburg is a fantastic vacation spot.
I could not imagine buying a time share here though.

We brought the wife's sister and husband as they had never been to Colonial Williamsburg and they really enjoyed it. Unit was within 5 minutes of the visitor center. There were plenty of things to do within 30 minutes and all kinds of eating establishments. Unit was ready when we arrived and more than met our expectations. They did not bother us with calls to attend time share sales.

Left on 09/24/2011 for a stay in July 2011

We arrived on a Friday after a 8 hour drive from atlanta, Ga. Check in was smooth, our room was available when promised. We booked this resort thru our timeshare for 1 wk. The resort was very well maintained, (the grounds, pool, put-put golf etc..) We checked in about 3, found our condo easily, we to our room and unpacked, so we could go to the pool and relax, it was very hot in Virginia this wk. The room was very nice, we ha a 2 bedroom, and a sofa-bed. The kitchen was nice and updated, the furniture was nice and cozy. The beds and bathroom were nice, washer and dryer in your room. Very nice balconey, we sat out one night and just enjoyed the stars. There was alot to do here, the pool, golf, game room are opened until 11pm, so you had plenty of time to enjoy. They have tennis, movie night, singing contest, just alot of fun. The resort was near everything from Kmart, Walmart, restaurants, and shopping. Busch Gardens is less than 15 mins away. Security was visible and the front desk was very helpful. Overall this is a great resort, I would stay here again, the only con was parking, it would fill up quickly and you would have to park a little farther from you condo. You need to update your pictures of the resort, the resort looks better that the pictures(smile). Free Wifi and my security deposit was returned in a timely fashion.

      Another great Vacation at Kingsgate

Left on 09/16/2011 for a stay in August 2011

My family and I stayed here 2 years ago and it was good to see that they have updated the kitchen, the mini golf and the arcade.
They one thing I see they are still having issues with is the 2 arcades. still most of the video games are out of order...so you dont have a lot to choose from. The pools werent crowded, tennis was great and the large BBQ was clean, the staff friendly and we didnt get any of those calls about timeshares!
all and all a good trip again (except for that pesky earthquake and hurricane lol)
tip...dont shop for food at Bloom...way to expensive!...ask for directions to the walmart or target...much cheaper and only 8 mins away.
also...ask to stay in unit 45...its close to all the action!...within steps to everything!

we stayed here for a weekend and the place is a kid's playground do not go here if your an adult looking to relax with friends. There are 3 pools one indoor and 2 outdoor 1 of which is an "adults pool" it's a joke very small, there are little kids running everywhere so don't even think your getting in the arcade and mini golf was so crowded until closing that it was not worth trying. The stereo in our unit and the ice maker did not work, i notified management & maintenance within an hour of checking in, they stated that they knew those items were not in working order... so why would they put us in a unit that has things broken?? this place looks nice and seems nice but for as much as we paid for our timeshare ownership with Whyndham they should fix broken items immediately.

We just got back from spending a weekend getaway at the Wyndham Kingsgate. The resort is clean with lots of things to do. It's within close proximity of Colonial Williamsburg, restaurants, and activities. We had a 2 bedroom, 2 bath unit on the second floor. It was lovely! I would recommend asking for a 3rd floor unit. Our first night was very peaceful, but on Sat. night, there were people in the unit above us who, I swear were up walking around all night. Clean, mostly quiet, and a very nice resort. I would stay here again, but would ask for a 3rd floor unit.
