We have just visited Bowness Lodge for the second time with our family and enjoyed every moment there. The lodge is excellent, spacious, very well-eqipped, spotlessly clean, modern and the lakeside is only a couple of minutes away. Whitecross Bay site is well maintained, situated in lovely woodland and has lots of facilities. Whatever the weather, there is lots to do in this area. We enjoyed many beautiful walks, we visited nearby Brockholes, many Lakeland towns and villages and other lakes and it was lovely to return at the end of the day to the lodge and enjoy relaxing in the swimming pool or having a work-out in the gym.We would happily recommend Bowness Lodge for a wonderful holiday.

LondonRelaxing, modern and clean - a gorgeous tranquil retreat

My husband and I are great lovers of the outdoors, and wanted a base for a week of walking and exploring. This was perfect for us. I'm always worried about cleanliness of independent cottages and lodges, but this was spotless - such a relief! White Cross Bay had quite a few amenities, as well as other lodges. I have no idea of what standard the others are, but I'm sure this must be one of the best. Simple yet modern it had everything we needed, and a great bathroom too. Although there were only two of us, there seemed to be lots of kitchen utensils and crockery for larger parties. The hosts were a pleasure to deal with and helpful with all of my questions. I do hope if you find this review useful you have a similar experience to us.

Brilliant decking area with BBQ plenty of comfortable seating.
The owners are extremely helpful and cannot do enough for you. The lodge is about 500 yards from the Lake. We loved all the authentic feel of being in a "true log cabin" -

We have stayed at bowness lodge on many occasions. My favourite was Christmas 2010 when the snow fell and forgot to stop. It was my sons first Christmas and when we arrived we locked ourselves in for three cosy days and nights blissfully undisturbed. Scenery is fantastic and surrounding villages always something to do.
