Above Cot is in a fantastic location with lots of places to eat and walk to right out the front door. We found Windermere to be a really lovely village with very good amenities and walks. The apartment is very comfortable with lots of space and comfortable bedrooms. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need and having a washing machine is a plus. We will be staying here again. We had our 3 boys with us (3, 6 & 8 yrs) who also enjoyed the place.

We go in february to windermere for our wedding anniversary and for the last three years and for the last two years we have stayed here at above Cot and wi certainly be staying again either later on this year or early next year, its a lovely homely flat with ample of space, its in the ideal place for shopping in windermere or having a few drinks, there is everything you can need for a relaxing trip right on the doorstep, the owners of this protery take pride in the place as in the last few months it has had a new ensuite and an fresh coat of paint, anyone looking to stay here please dont hesitate and book...

Excellent location in centre of Windermere. Well equipped, clean and spacious but some cosmetic wear and tear which would benefit from some tlc. Problems with Dishwasher and Shower were quickly sorted out by holiday letting agency. Parking some distance from flat but no problems for us. Cars parking in lane right across front door was irritating.

We booked the apartment at short notice, 3 days before we arrived,. The pictures do not do it justice, it's beautiful, very clean and modern. It's position on Windermere high street is great, but no parking which was not really a problem in September, but can imagine in the summer months it being difficult to park in the public car park ( you do get a permit allowing you to park in public car parks) which saves a lot of parking money when visiting other places. I couldn't recommend this place high enough,

Superb place to stay right in the middle of Windermere. Loads of space. Even a Christmas tree provided!
But... beware! The neighbours are not friendly. A lady from Cumbrian Cottages (under the property but strangely not the people who let it!) stormed round twice and very rudely demanded we move our car. Our letting agent insisted she owned the road and weren't helpful. There is a parking permit supplied, but the nearest place you can park free for any period is the other side of the village. Nightmare for when you arrive and leave and if you have more than one car! Lots of similar comments in the visitors' book. Would be excellent all round if you don't have a car. -

The apartment was really well located in Windermere, with very close access to shops and restaurants. And also a good location to explore all of the Lake District. There is no parking designated to the flat, however we had no issue finding free spaces and the extra bonus is that the flat had a parking permit that could be used all over the lakes, including Windermere, Windermere in Bowness, Kendal etc etc! Very very useful and saved us a lot of money.
The apartment was clean, a few finishing touches missing like a couple of lightbulbs not working and no batteries in the clock, but only minor problems. On the whole a great holiday, helped by the accomadation. -

When we arrived we were allowed into the cottage exactly on time. The place was lovely and clean, fresh and modern. Was literaly home from home with all the things you need. (tumble dryer extremely useful) Also thought the cottage was very spacious and well layed out, seemed even bigger than it looked on the photo's. It is located in a brilliant spot if you have no car (which we don't) as there are two supermarkets and plenty of other shops right on hand not to mention the pub across the road and a lovely chippy! But you don't have to go far to escape the hustle bustle either..We did loads of walks all week, we picked up the maps from the Tourist Info at the train station when we arrived. They were value for money with 5 seperate walks in the one bag varying in length and hardeness and very easy to read/follow...only a fool could get lost haha. Two fabulous ones are right on the doorstep. Each evening after travelling out (bus service close by aswell) for the day, we would arrive 'home', have our tea and then round off the evening down at Lake Windermere on the jetty relaxing with our feet in the water! Much prefered this beautiful quiet spot on the lake rather than busy Bowness. You walk up onto the main road at the top (station end) turn left and walk until you pass the church, cross a small road on same side and then there is a path with a stone wall which tells you 'to the lake'. you walk down this path to the end at which point there is a gate onto a main road. Cross the main road and on the other side is another gate and continuing path along a stream that leads to the waters edge. The scenery is gorgeous. Also must reccomend going up to Orres Head for the views! Lovely week had and would definately come back to Dove Cottage in the future!

Flat was excellent, spacious, clean and had everything you need. Location could not have been better, minutes from shops, restaurants and bars. Lakeland cottages very helpful. Could have more local information in flat such as play parks, bus timetables etc. Only downside was the parking. No notice in lane to say you are not allowed to park there. The B&B; owner next door was rude and unhelpful. One of his guests parked right outside our door and we could not my grandsons' buggy out.
