Michigan, United StatesPerfect base for day trips
Left on 06/02/2013 for a stay in May 2013
This was a great place to stay. Anna and Richard were very nice and welcoming. One bedroom, day bed and futon in living room. Spacious, nicely decorated. Off street parking. Around the corner from a great little grocery store, a nice Italian restaurant and a Fish and Chips/Chinese take away place. Close to major highways. 45 minute walk to Windsor(castle, downtown, and train station). Train to London plus a travel card is fast and easy and 2-4-1 at lots of London attractions. Public transportation in the UK is great, not like in the US. If I had it to do over, I wouldn't have gotten a rental car.

My wife and I stayed at anna's comfortable cottage for four days. Anna was very helpful providing extra bedding for our son as we arrived. The place is still located, quiet, clean and functional. Comfortable bed. Everything worked week and parking of the street. Great place that I would highly recommend.

Hobart, AustraliaExcellent - 1 bedroom cottage - sleeps 4 - Quiet location
Left on 01/31/2013 for a stay in October 2012
My wife and I booked this cottage over the internet. I stayed in the cottage for a week and my wife stayed on for 4 (four) months. The location is ideal for anyone with a car, heaps of places locally to see, but if, as my wife was without a car, the public transport is second to none. Buses frequent the stop just up the road, outside the Carvery Pub, for places like Windsor, a short train ride to London, and Legoland in one direction and the airport etc. the other direction. Shops, Chemist, doctor, Pub all within easy walking distance as is Windsor Great Park.
The Cottage is fully self-contained, the obliging owners living next door, if they are needed. A cleaning Lady comes once a week, all inclusive in the price as is all the electricity,wi-fi etc.
This really is a small home away from home, is set back off the not very busy side road, and even though under the flight path of Heathrow, with double glazing in the Bedroom, aircraft noise is non-existent. If we come back to the UK for holidays I will certainly book this cottage again.

Enjoyed a very relaxing break with my family at Hopscotch Cottage where we stayed for a few days on our visit to Legoland. Cottage was as described, bed very comfortable, kitchen well stocked with every cooking utensils that we needed. Anna very kindly added some toys and Dvds for all to enjoy. The local shops were situated yards away from the cottage
anna and Richard collected us and left us back to the airport which was a huge plus when travelling with a 4 year old in tow. Very grateful for all their kindness, a lovely couple. Would certainly recommend them. -

NottinghamshireLovely Cottage with all amenities
Left on 06/11/2012 for a stay in June 2012
We stayed at Hopscotch Cottage for the Jubilee week and had a lovely time. The Cottage is about 3 miles out of Windsor, but on a very good bus route just a few yards away, costing £4.70 per person return. Parking is expensive in Windsor so unless you are only going for a couple of hours its worth catching the bus, numbers 71 and 100. Anna made us very welcome when we arrived, and the place has all the amenities you can think of, and plenty of space. Just a few yards away is a Co-Op and Cost Cutter, an Italian restaurant (which is very good) a Chinese Fish and Chip shop, and a Toby Inn, so you were spoilt for choice with food. If I'm in the area again I will definatley be back. Thanks anna and Richard

My boyfriend and I stayed at the cottage while we were working at the Windsor Horse Show, and it was everything we needed and more, warm, comfortable, spacious. Anna was super welcoming but gave us all the space we could want, was always there if we had questions and was really lovely. Would definitely recommend!

New Plymouth, New ZealandMy lovely Home away from Home
Left on 05/04/2012 for a stay in March 2012
When I arrived at the Cottage it was exactly as It was advertised, only better. It is a wonderfully warm house, with everything I could possibly need. I stayed in the Cottage for a month, and quite honestly I felt very much at home. The bed was very comfortable and a cousin who came to stay for a few nights commented on how well she slept on the Settee. This was the very first time in 18 years that I was away from my husband and daughters whom were back in New Zealand,Im pleased to say I felt very safe in my Cottage and in these New surroundings. The local shops were two doors away for which catered for your day to day food shopping, to takeaways, such as fish n chips, pizzas, Chinese food, I couldn't have been happier. The bus stop is like a three minute walk from the cottage, which can take you straight into Windsor, where you can jump on a train and go further a field, your options are endless. The location is great and the owners anna and Richard are the best. I am very thankful to have meet such a lovely couple and hope to someday return, but this time with my family.

ChicagoGreat Cottage, Great Location, Amazing Owners
Left on 12/29/2011 for a stay in October 2011
The cottage itself while small is just right for a family of 4. The kids were more then fine on the Futon. The kitchen has everything you need as does the whole place. As far as location it was a great home base for our day trips as well as taking the train into London. The local shops are all right next door and the Co-Opp (Grocery Store) was very convenient for breakfast. Amazing Fish and Chips as well as the best Italian you'll find outside of Italy.
The best part of Hopscotch are the owners. They are so nice, welcoming and friendly. You won't find this at a hotel or corporate owned rental properties. -

EdinburghA home away from home in a lot of respects with a few problems
Left on 08/01/2011 for a stay in July 2011
The cottage is lovely and fully equipped with everything you need and more for a home away from home experience. The owners have added many personal little touches including books, Dvd's (for adults and children), cookbooks, toys etc. It has a small garden which our boys loved after a busy day at Legoland or Chessington. The owners are lovely and very helpful and welcoming...Anna even dropped extra Dvd's in for our children as they were tired after a busy couple of days and in need of a 'chill out' afternoon in front of the TV! The couple of problems we had were:
(1) the cottage seems to be directly underneath a very noisy flightpath to Heathrow airport - the planes woke us up every morning at around 5am! However, this seems to affect Windsor in general so not really a valid gripe against the cottage personally, more just a point to be aware of.
(2) as we were staying as a family of 4, we gave our children the bedroom so that we could stay up after their bedtime to relax and watch TV etc. This meant we slept on the sofabed which was unfortunately very uncomfortable and lumpy despite other reviews raving about how comfortable it is. I think the problem might be that it has been used a lot so now has very definite lumps and bumps on it which doesn't make for a restful night!
Despite these points, I do have to reiterate how lovely the owners are and I do feel bad about not providing a totally positive review but feel I should be honest so that other families can make an informed decision about sleeping on the sofabed. I also should add that the cottage is priced very competitively for the area which obviously helps with a tight budget. There's not much to Old Windsor but there are a couple of family restaurants and the local shops (Scotmid and budget mini market) are literally next door to the cottage. There is also a good fish and chip shop opposite. Legoland and Windsor are a 10 min drive away, Chessington 40 mins, Duxford air Museum 75 mins.Response from anna foxell - 08/03/2011

We stayed in Hopscotch 7th June for 6 nights and loved every minute of it. 20-30 min drive from Heathrow airport, little group of shops a couple doors up. Great location for us to branch out to all the places we wanted visit i.e Hever Castle, Penshurst Place, National archives office in Kew and Winchester just to name a few. Comfortable and cosy had everything you would need. Anna and her husband lovely people. Would certainly come back again and highly recommend this lovely cottage. What pics you see on anna's website is what you get!

I recently stayed at Hopscotch Cottage with my two sisters. It was the ideal accommodation for us as it is always difficult for us to find the right place for the three of us. Hotels mean booking two rooms which is both expensive and means one of us is in a room on our own! Anna and Richard were extremely helpful and friendly even providing a cake for our arrival. The cottage was clean & cozy, the sofa bed surprisingly comfortable and the location was great for driving into town.

Left on 08/26/2010 for a stay in July 2010
We spent a pleasant week in Hopscotch Cottage. I was working for most of the week but my wife used the Cottage as a base for shopping and relaxing. The Cottage is situated close to all amenities and is only a short bus ride from Windsor. Our hosts Richard and anna were very friendly and helpful during our stay. We received a welcome bottle of wine on our arrival. We would use this comfortable accommodation again.

We stayed for 3 weeks in June while awaiting the birth of our grandaughter and the cottage was an excellent alternative to being in a hotel. It was very well equipped, roomy and comfortable and the owners anna & Richard couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The cottage is ideally located for visiting the many interesting places in the area and has shops, pub & restaurants nearby. We will certainly be using the facility again.

We stayed end of June/start of July at Hopscotch Cottage with our 6 year old daughter. Hopscotch Cottage was a great base for us to explore Windsor, Legoland and take a day trip to London. We used the outside space every evening and the Cottage is well maintained and pretty. The hospitality from anna and Richard was excellent. We had milk and even a cake in the fridge when we arrived and anna gave us a lift in her car to Slough station when we wanted to take a trip to London. There are some great local pubs, 2 supermarkets, a takeaway and italian restaurant all within a stone's throw away. We had a great holiday and are hoping to return soon.
