Description from the owner
Due to the fact that traditional Saba cottages have small rooms, one bathroom, low ceiling heights, and electricity as an after thought, Hibiscus Cottage was completely torn down except for the brick oven chimney. A large two bedroom cottage with ensuite bathrooms was built on a perfectly located lot in Windward Side. Your view is over the lush gardens by the museum out to the Caribbean Sea far below. The site is ideal as it is an easy walk to restaurants, shops and the start of the Mount Scenery trail which leads to other trails through out the island. The kitchen is fully equipped and opens on to a lovely garden deck which is roofed....Read more

Additional Location Information
Hibiscus Cottage is preached above the lush gardens of the island's historic museum, a 150-year-old cottage once the home of a 19th-century sea captain, which displays period pieces and old documents.
At 1,700 feet above sea level, the views are astonishing as you amble along the lanes, taking in the red-roofed homes, banana trees and oleander bushes. Guest staying at Hibiscus Cottage feel that the location of the property is one of it's best benefits. The front of the house is quiet and offers a peaceful setting, yet behind the house it's an easy walk to the town's amazing restaurants, shops, grocery stores, dive companies as well as the start of many hiking trails, especially up the 1,064 steps to the top of Mount Scenery.

The cottage has all the amenities and more you would have at home, including sufficient place settings, napkins silver and stemware for 16 persons, a barbeque grill and a lovely patio next to the kitchen for meals in addition to a dining area for six. The kitchen has modern appliances such as blender, micro wave, toaster oven and coffee maker. The two identical airconditioned bedrooms each have a bathroom and flatscreen Tv's. The front patio facing the museum grounds is ideal for reading, coffee or cocktails. The gardens are lovely and well kept. Hibiscus Cottage is located along Saba's most historical walkway. The caretaker does fresh flower arrangements prior to your arrival. There are well stocked grocery stores close by as well as several restaurants.

This new Saban cottage is centrally located in Windwardside on the quaint tiny island of Saba.
You can walk to restaurants, shopping and an interesting museum showing the island's history.
The clouds often drift by you as you sit on the porch.
We love to stay there often. Kent and Eva Bogart' -

New YorkSerene, charming and perfectly located
Left on 02/13/2012 for a stay in August 2010
We've been coming to Saba for years to get away from the hustle and bustle of St Maarten/St Martin were we resided part of the year. Saba is so stunningly beautiful and incredibly charming whether you hike, dive or do nothing but catch up on reading. We've stayed at several facilities, most recently Hibiscus Cottage. We'll never stay any where else. It is perfect. The Cottage is private and quite although right in the heart of Windwardside village. The Cottage is traditional Saba architecture, but beautifully renovated and modern. It is also one of the few places with air conditioning, which my husband loved. We like the feel of being a local and Hibiscus gives you that "feel". You can walk to everything in the village...restaurants, art galleries, food store etc. Very easy...no need for a car or taxi. Plus it has a big porch that overlooks an historical home set in a pretty park like garden. Great place for reading or having a glass of wine. We will stay there again and have highly recommended it to friends. The island is gorgeous, the people are just lovely and the island is the safest place in the world!

Hibiscus Cottage is one of the most charming homes in a most exotic location on the island of Saba. We had a fantastic 4 day stay, enjoying the ability to walk out the door, through the well kept tropical gardens and being right in the heart of Winward Side. Restaurants, shops and day spas are all are just a few minutes walk. The main trail for hiking is five minutes away. This cottage has all of the modern conveniences of any finely appointed home yet retains the character of a cottage from years ago. The porch is an ideal spot for reading, the fresh flowers in the living room, picked from the garden, are romantic and the kitchen is equipped for a chef and the king sized mattresses are of the finest in comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to our next visit to Saba and the Hibiscus cottage.
