Description from the manager

This brand new three-story town home is right on the Winter Park/Mary Jane ski slopes – behind the Iron Horse Resort. You’ll be in awe of the luxurious décor, the cathedral ceilings, and the high-end appliances. There is leather furniture in the huge main living area, a private outdoor hot tub, a grill, and a garage to keep your car warm. Being that it’s one of the only four-bedroom ski-in/ski-out properties in Winter Park, and it has two bunk beds, it’s in high demand. Sleeping Arrangements: One King, two Queens and two sets of bunk beds. Location: Just 1/4 mile from Winter Park Village, about 2 miles to downtown Winter Park. 15...Read more

Great weekend getaway! For the kids!

Left on 02/04/2011 for a stay in January 2011

We arrived and had 6 children. We wanted to ski with them but we also had to get groceries and our vehicles were full of suitcases. We paid the parking fee at the Village Parking structure and carried the childrens skiis and clothes down to the village, rented ski's for those who did not have any and picked up our lift tickets.

My wife went shopping for groceries. I waited at the Derailer bar and waited for the 4;00 PM check in time to come around. The kids and I took the truck over and were very delighted with the Base Camp Condo. It was nicer than we had anticipated.

    We skiid Saturday no problems.

Saturday we had to get the kids up and fed, dressed and on the mountain while having to be packed up and out of the Condo by 10:00. Net result missed another day of skiing.

So while the accomodations are very nice check in time should be 11:00 am and Check out time needs to be after 12:00 We paid for two full days and received 8 hrs on friday, 24 hours on saturday and 10 hours on sunday.

Thank you for your review. We're glad you loved Base Camp. It is a premier property and it shows!

Regarding check in/out times: During the busy ski season, we adhere to the 4pm check in time and 10am check out time. It takes us 3 - 4 hours to clean Base Camp, plus inspect it so we have to be sure we have time to do so after the last renter departs and before you arrive, as well as to clean after you depart and the next renter arrives. Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to having you back again in the future!

Our stay in Winterpark was a good experience

Left on 01/14/2010 for a stay in January 2010

WInterpark, as a resort is nice and pleasant, generally everyone friendly. The rental company of Basecamp 492 , WInterpark Lodging Company, was giving us very nice service. The house is starting to run down a little bit, compared to the unit we had last year (#470)
The ski school for the children is excellent!!! We had four happy little skiers, who loved evrything and learned a lot. They went to scholl for 6 days and we are very pleased with the results.

The day care was horrific. By far the worst we ever have encountered. We paid for 4 days, but had the child there for 2 1/2. The children NEVER were taken outside, although we were told to buy goggles and provided snow suit etc. On the contrary, the child seemed to have been put to sleep the whole time and almost seemed tranquilized. The resort HAS to do some improvement there. We cannot recommend the place to anyone. Untrained, unfriendly personnel, truly incredible. Just to note, the little girl goes to a Montessori nursery school at home and does not have a bit of a problem, she loves to go. It is not the spoiled child syndrome, in case this is what the head of the day care will comment. It is not good for the resort to offer such a truly very bad experience.
We will not need this service any more next year, as we will be ready to send all to ski scholl, so we do consider to return. If we had another little one we certainly would not!!

    Maria,
Thank you for taking the time to share your good experience (and bad experience with daycare at the resort). I have sent your comments to the head of the resort and of the entire ski school and day care operations and will post comments when I get their response. We have not heard that before, so I'm hoping it is an exception to the rule. There was very cold weather when you were here and I'm wondering if that's why they didn't take them outside.

We hope you'll return to Winter Park again and we'd love to host you.

    Beautiful Base Camp Condo

Left on 04/24/2009 for a stay in February 2009

Great home. Beautifully decorated and appointed, with lots of room for everyone (we were two families of 4 staying together). There were a few minor problems with appliances, etc. although the property maintenance company was very responsive and fixed them quickly. My only criticism: "ski-in/ski-out" does not fairly represent the location of this property. There is a 5 minute walk plus three flights of stairs to get to and from the slopes. We probably would have rented it anyway (as there are not many non-hotel options close to the mountainfor a large group, but it would be fairer to describe the property as "walk-in/walk out." Of course, Winter Park and Mary Jane are spectacular!

    Great Slopeside Condo

Left on 04/23/2009 for a stay in April 2009

This is a beatiful townhome slopeside to Winter Park. This is definitely not ski -in/ski-out. All of the furnishings were fantastic and we had enough room to serve an Easter dinner to 24 people. Would have liked to have seen some board games and the like to entertain the kids, they liked Guitar Hero PS2 the parents were not as big of fans. Solve the access to the ski corridor problem and we would be back in a heartbeat, otherwise its a tough sell when you can get better access albeit not quite as upscale right next door at Iron Horse for a considerable discount. If you come to ski....
