This unique 17th Century terraced cottage is in the heart of Wirksworth and offers high standard accommodation to sleep up to 10 people. This property used to be a public house and has been thoughtfully converted into a unique holiday home, keeping many of the original features like the exposed beams, stone fire place surrounds and the glorious parquet floors. The property is set over three storeys and is able to sleep a total of 10 people throughout its four bedrooms. Modernised to a high-standard, the property is well equipped and spacious, boasting a cast iron wood-burning stove in the sitting room, an open fire in the dining room and a c...ourtyard style patio area, ideal for dining al fresco.

Electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, TV, video, DVD, radio/CD, small library of books. Region: The ultimate in “year-round” appeal, the Peak District offers countryside, picturesque villages and magnificent scenery. It touches upon six counties and encloses 555 square miles of open moorland, flowing rivers, and wooded dales.

Town: The delightful market town of Wirksworth is only six miles from Matlock. It is a charming town with many fine architectural buildings, and a majestic parish church. There are ancient ‘jitties’ and courtyards to be explored, ‘jitties’ being an old term for pedestrian footpaths. The nearby countryside is beautiful and there are many pursuits on offer such as rock climbing cycling and walking. Carsington water and the High Peak Trail are also close by and Matlock offers the visitor a wide variety of places to eat and shopping opportunities. All prices are inclusive of the booking fee. The "Min. Per Night" prices quoted are based on the weekly rental price, they are not applicable for short breaks. See our short break policy or ask for further details.
Winter Short Breaks (WSB) are available at many properties in the "Winter" period - subject to availability. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the "Low" and "Mid" periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday. "Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.

  Great house but not a great experience

  We rented the house for a group of 8 for two weeks during Wirksworth Festival. It is a great time to visit this very lovely town. The house was perfect for our needs in an excellent central location. The stay went well, but unfortunately the stay was spoiled by a two major issues:
  
  One was a problem with the non-collection of rubbish from the property. It built up over the fortnight to an unsightly pile of bin bags in the front garden. Unfortunately we did not complain and demand that they be collected. We left the property internally in good, clean order. Three weeks after our stay we had still not received our deposit back. On contacting the owner she said that neighbours had reported the unsightly rubbish and she angrily accused us of being disrespectful guests. Apparently neighbours had complained about the build up of refuse and somehow we were blamed for making a mess of the property. I must emphasise here that we left the house in very good order. The second and much worse problem was the owners attitude to the situation and her angry communication style. Despite our polite and rational explanation of events she launched a hysterical, accusatory confrontational attack. Her bullying approach meant that I backed off immediately - I really couldn't cope with being screeched at on the phone. We never got our deposit back and feel very cheated. Sadly a really lovely holiday was marred by the owner's poor judgement and the most appalling people skills I have ever encountered.

  Quirky house with very good accomodation for a family

  Wirksworth was a quiet village but also had good facilities for eating, drinking and purchasing any requirements. The house was quirky with good accomodation for a family.
  The house was well equipped and generally clean.
  The bath was fab but it took a little getting used to going for a shower in a cupboard!!
  The stairs are quite steep - not for very young children or less mobile - this was not a problem though for our party.
  We had a fab stay - lots of walking and a day at nearby alton Towers too. A great holiday.
