Henmore Grange is a spacious semi-detached cottage in the hamlet of Hopton near Wirksworth, offering attractive accommodation with views over Carsington Water. There are three double bedrooms here, one on the ground floor and all with en-suite facilities, and a fourth twin bedroom. There is also a family bathroom with a roll top bath. All prices are inclusive of the booking fee. The "Min. Per Night" prices quoted are based on the weekly rental price, they are not applicable for short breaks. See our short break policy or ask for further details.
Winter Short Breaks (WSB) are available at many properties in the "Winter" period - subject to availability. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the "Low" and "Mid" periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday. "Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.

The service we received from Sykes was very good; they made all the initial arrangements took the money etc. On arriving at Henmore Grange we had a very pleasant and helpful welcome from the owners. The house itself is superb with very good flexible accommodation. The lounge is nice and big which suited our purposes namely a film week so we were inside watching films as much as we were outside enjoying what was available. The kitchen is well equipped and spacious with a good table; we found it easily did all that we needed to feed 8 adults 3 meals a day. Those of us that wanted to were able to indulge in one of our other passions which is walking beautiful countryside again there is so much to do around Wirksworth and in the local market towns. It was brilliant and we would hope to use this venue again in future years.

Henmore Grange is a really comfortable, well equipped cottage in a lovely tranquil village.
The amenities and decor at the cottage were first class,and having 3/4 rooms with ensuites was a real plus.
There were great walks in the area, some of which could be done directly from the cottage.
We were lucky with the weather and the area was shown off to best advantage.
Definately a consideration for a return visit. -

Very nicely decorated, has a big kitchen with a large ovenmaster range cooker. Dish washer tablets provided but had to buy wash tabs for laundry.( Instructions how to use in brochure, which we didn`t find til end of week.) Two bedrooms very spacious with ensuites, twin bed room with bathroom next to it ( no shower) and downstairs bedroom ,ensuite, but vey small room( room had to crawl to bottom of bed to get out..
Outside very pleasant although all three benches need attention, bit wonky .. owners next door, friendly and helpful. Miners pub up road,( I would say a bit more than five mins).Very nice food, highly recommend steak night and fish and chip night. Nearest shop for paper ,milk etc a good ten minute car ride to Wirksworth, Bus stop outside property but didn`t use it. -

Stayed at Henmore Grange in early May. On the whole we were pleased with the cottage. It's been nicely furnished and was immaculately clean. It was a luxury to have a bathroom allocated to each bedroom and the cottage feels really spacious.
It's in a good location to get to numerous local towns and attractions and there are pleasant walks to be had right from the front door.
A couple of downsides:
The wifi was terrible. On arrival we learnt that it only works in the living room (annoying) and even then it was patchy to say the least. One evening it took an hour to connect, and twice we could only get a connection with the laptop on the floor. Lack of wifi wouldn't usually bother me but two of us needed to be connected for work and personal reasons that week and it was one of the reasons we booked the cottage in the first place. I would suggest that the owners stop advertising wifi or else improve it.
The other (slight) disappointments were the lack of views from the cottage. There is a slight view through the trees of carsington water from the parking area but none from the cottage itself. And the cottage backs onto a road so you do get the sound of passing traffic. It didn't bother us but it might if you want to retreat from noise completely!
On the whole I would certainly recommend the cottage as a lovely home from home and a good base for exploring the peak district.
