This detached cottage in Wirksworth sleeps seven people in four bedrooms. Barnes Croft Cottage is a detached house in Wirksworth, ten minutes walk from the towns amenities and within easy reach of the attractions of the Peak District. The property has two doubles, one with an en-suite shower room, a twin and a single room with additional stacker bed. There is also a family bathroom, a kitchen, utility, dining room and sitting room. Outside is a garden with views over playing fields, and off road parking. The town centre is an easy stroll, and the wonderful walking, climbing and cycling of the Peak District is within easy reach, as are the ar...ea's market towns and historic houses.

Amenities: Gas central heating. Electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, TV with Freeview, DVD, WiFi, selection of books, games and DVDs. Fuel and power inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Off road parking for 2 cars. Enclosed lawned garden with furniture. Sorry, no pets and no smoking. Shops and pubs 5 mins walk.

Town: Situated just a few miles from Matlock on the edge of the White Peak is Wirksworth, a small market town. Full of character with many buildings of architectural interest including its magnificent parish church, Wirksworth offers a quieter alternative to the popular town of Matlock. Visitors can enjoy exploring the ancient 'jitties' and courtyards, as well as the National Stone Centre, the delightful surrounding countryside and the nearby Carsington Water and High Peak Trail. Rock climbing and cycling facilities in the region cater to every level of skill, and there is good walking all around. The country homes of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within easy reach, as is Matlock Bath with its spectacular cable car, the newly restored Ecclesbourne Valley Railway and Gulliver's Kingdom. Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the "Low" and "Mid" periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday. "Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.

  Stayed for 5 nights in this property during March 2013. It is a newly built property in a group of four others at the end of an unmade road. It is next to a school playground so there is usually some sport to watch out of the rear windows! Downstairs rooms are good size and most of the usual facilities are provided. Bedrooms are reasonable but double room is only just big enough for a double bed and en-suite attached to main bedroom is very small. Might be an idea for the owner to move the twin beds into the double room instead? Wirksworth is an interesting town with lots of pubs, shops, etc. Very handy for Matlock and surrounding Peak District.
  Overall a good rental but slightly soulless and bedrooms not spacious!
