Cottage was very cosy and had everything you could need for a short stay there was enough space for our family of four . The cottage was set in lovely quiet surrounding which was lovely the little village had a shop and pub just a short walk away . Overall I lovely idyllic place to stay while exploring that part of the lakes

On arrival we found that the children's beds had not been made up, so we had to hunt round for sheets and duvet covers to make the beds. We have stopped in maybe 12 cottages over the last six years with a couple of other companies and have never had to make our own beds up including putting duvets in covers.
Another issue we had was the safty of the ladder to the top bunk. It had a fitting that didn't in anyway secure the ladder to the bed and at an angle that was almost vertical. Also in the top draw of the childrens room we found two little peices of wood and a door stopper with sharp nails sticking out of them. Not what I would want to find in a childs draw.
In the other bedroom, the shelf that was the bedside table was not secured and the first time I put a glass on it, it simply collapsed onto the floor. There also appeared to be a red stain on the sheet.
Not that we needed it but there was also no "Initial supply of wood and coal provided" Just an empty plastic wood bag and an empty coal bucket. The fuel store didn't have any in either. This may just be because it was summer.
We still had a nice short break and we were impressed by the garden that came with the cottage but we felt that unlike all the other cottages we have stayed in, this one wasn't "cared for" like the others. It was interesting that this one is the first that didn't have a comments book too.
Cottage in idyllic position but rather lacking in ambience

Although we have visited the lake district a number of times before, this area was new to us. We were delighted with the village and beautiful surrounding area perfect for walking and exploring wildlife. Especially butterflies, moths and damselflies in the nearby mosses.
However, we would not have minded that the cottage is rather basic but for the facct it lacked a grill pan or an oven-proof dish so we ended up having to fry food that we would not fry normally. The other thing we found frustating was the numerous air freshners (I think we counted 12 in total!) positioned all around the cottage.
Also, we seemed to have a valance for a bottom sheet!
We will possibly recommend it to our friend for a short stay as the position is really lovely.

Agood website and a warm welcome at the phone
a very cosy nice little house and everything well thought
a nice localisation not far a lot of interesting places
Just some problems for us (French )with the boiler and no informations about the bins .But we loved that place
Vacated a day early. No confidence in the electrical installations within the property, as they kept tripping and very loud banging noises and burning smell from the dishwasher. Reported to the letting agency - no feedback, other than asking me to unplug the dishwasher and not to use it again. Emailed letting agency to advise I was vacating early, and have heard nothing from them - no acknowledgment/report back as to whether anybody was attending at the property. Cottage itself in good location, but very basic; all electric heating/hot water not very effective. Cleanliness left a lot to be desired - cobwebs, hairs in bathroom etc

We thought Damson Cottage very nice and comfortable,we enjoyed the open fire after being out most days. The location was great, nice and handy for exploring the area and we found a very nice pub at Gilpin Bridge where we could get great food at a reasonable price. All in all we had no complaints about the cottage except the bed side shelf did collapse when my wife put her glass of water on it.We would happily return to Damson Cottage in the autumn or winter but not the summer months.
