We stayed at Mystwood Retreat, Wollombi last year and are hoping to go back the same time this year it was so good!
The caretakers are very friendly and helpful, but not intrusive, Stella the shaggy dog was one of the highlights, she sat out the front of our cabin patiently waiting for us to go for a walk up to the lake in the mornings so she could show off her swimming style and at night she hung around at a distance just in case we had any left-overs after dinner!
The cabins are modest to look at on the outside and spaced apart just enough for privacy, once you get inside it is neat, modern, and with the fire going it is very cosy. The bathroom has beautiful toiletries and is clean and modern, the bedroom looks out onto the private courtyard with the jacuzzi, which is great to sit in at night under the stars even in winter. The kitchen has all the necessities for abit of weekend cooking if you feel like it.
At the price we paid it is great value, reasonably close to the cute town of Wollombi, that has a little pub, a small supermarket that rents dvd's, and a nice little cafe. From there the Hunter Valley wineries aren't too far away too, which is a nice day trip. We found it very relaxing and would definately go back. -

Mystwood in Wollombi is our new home away from home.
From the moment we made the booking to the time of leaving we were taken such good care of.
This is the perfect place to get away from the busy life and enjoy what nature has to offer.
The outdoor jacuzzi was fabulous. The cabin was very clean and the service we received from Colin and his family was beyond anything I could have expected.
We received a lovely BBQ hamper on our first night and were also provided with bacon and eggs and fresh bread so we could cook up a storm for breakfast every morning.
My partner loved the outdoor BBQ not just for the obvious reasons but because of the scenic view.
On a second night we had a Thai banquet.. I am a huge Thai fan and have tried a large majority of Sydney Thai restaurants and this would have to be up there with best.
Mystwood provided us with a full day on the wollombi wine trail which was an unforgettable day.
Stella the resident dog was the icing on the cake If you are an animal lover. She is the smartest dog and will show you around the resort just like a tour guide.
If you are looking for one of a kind service then look no further, but be warned that you will fall in love and never want to leave. :) we will definitely be back as soon as possible.
