      Beautiful and serene!

Left on 02/13/2013 for a stay in December 2012

I loved my stay at Goodbrooks. My friends and I relaxed and cooked and baked and felt a million miles away from the real world. Gregg and Barton are great to deal with and have done a lovely job restoring the home and making it feel quite comfortable while making it stylish and updated as well. There's so much history to it! We loved all the little details that highlighted the house and town's rich past.
The home is well appointed- I lounged on the beautiful chaise in the formal living room and read most of the day, and in the evening the large family room was a great place to relax with a glass of wine and share stories, watch a movie, or listen to my more talented friends play the beautiful piano. The dining room is gorgeous with the stonework and walls of windows- a beautiful place for brunch with the serene views outside. The kitchen is cozy, but very functional, and we utilized every bit of it, especially the crock pot for warm winter stews. Beds were comfy, and we had plenty of hot water for showers.
The town of Woodstock is quaint. Of course, there are plenty of tie-dye and incense shops with memorabilia noting the town's famous musical past, but there are also some cute little shops and galleries and coffee spots, and a few restaurants, though we didn't dine out much. The drive from NYC took us less than two hours, but we felt a world away. I would highly recommend Goodbrooks (and have) and look forward to our next stay!

fun and relaxing getaway from the busy city!

Left on 02/04/2013 for a stay in January 2013

a group of friends and i decided to stay at this cottage during MLK weekend and what a treat it was! the home was equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing weekend including games, kitchenware, and even a welcome basket that made our stay feel very special. this cottage is close enough to shops and galleries to be convenient but secluded enough for a weekend of peace and quiet. additionally, the owners of the home made us feel comfortable and welcomed when receiving us at check in.

I went to GoodBrooks to do a solitary, silent meditation retreat. What I needed was a secluded, quiet spot where I could feel comfortable, at home, and able to forget about the world for awhile. GoodBrooks exceeded my expectations. No noisy neighbors, no hassles - just good vibes and every imaginable amenity. Deer in the yard at dawn, sun in the big windows all day, comfy couches, an effortless kitchen, and even a beautiful 1890's piano! Basically, GoodBrooks strikes that magic balance between rustic cabin-type getaway, and comfort/accessibility. You can work on the internet, watch TV, play Nintendo Wii, do your laundry, and run the dishwasher if you choose, yet it's an elegantly uncluttered space, ideal for "unplugging." Communication with my host was always clear and easy, and I felt they were there for me were I to need anything during my stay.
