What Past Guests Are Saying
Uncommonly Nice New Yorker
Carefree, stress-free cottage creates a relaxing and enriching s
Ellen and Eric may just be the most hospitable humans alive! And they are not just hospitable to people, they are just as kind to animals. (They will tell you all about their wonderful pets and their rescue work.)
I think that Ellen was once an innkeeper in a former life. But more than that, she must have been a stellar innkeeper. I think it actually pains her (physically and psychically) if everything is not perfect at the cottage.
For anyone wondering about how close the cottage is to town, it is only a slight exaggeration that if you roll out of bed, you are on the main street. As other renters have stated, everything you could possibly want has been provided. You will even find little bottles of soaps and lotions, just like hotels chains offer, but from really interesting companies. Then there's that very mysterious Lilliputian shower cap. It took me three weeks to learn its purpose.
I spent an entire month at the cottage along with my two cats. The cat that goes outside on a leash truly enjoyed the patio (as did I). The other one was perfectly happy to sit right on top of the heater (the pilot light was nice and warm) . Who knew what an amenity that would turn out to be! Please keep in mind that the cottage is suitable for a maximum of two guests. No, you cannot put an air mattress on the floor. There is no space for it. That's what makes it charming and even romantic.
Ellen is preparing what she called her "Meisterwerk." I have read a draft and it has everything anyone would want to know about how to enjoy the cottage and the surrounding areas.
You cannot go wrong booking the In-town Cottage. The only negative is that it spoils you in terms of your future expectations of staying anywhere else.

Fred, we blush from all your superlatives. We are so glad you and your sweet cats enjoyed your stay. Thank you again for your gift of the beautiful new Earth Flag. We will think fondly of you every time we enter the gate. You kept us laughing (perhaps sometimes when you didn't even mean to). It has been great getting to know you a little but over the last month. You are good people! El & Eric
This is the most wonderful place I have stayed in over many years of visits to Woodstock. It has it all. A short walk from the bus stop, yet surrounded by trees and very private. It is beautifully and thoughtfully furnished. Delightful to look up to the trees through the skylights. The stained glass windows and Tiffany lamps are so pretty. The Jacuzzi is great, so relaxing. And the kitchen is fully equipped, it was easy to make myself at home while away. I enjoyed the good assortment of books,Dvds and cableTV too. This cottage is charming and wonderful!

And you were a fabulous guest, Carol. Thank you so much for your appreciative review!
Fantastic Location and accomodations!
We visited for an early Spring weekend and had an incredible time. We have stayed in a number of different settings in the area in the past several years and this is by far the best place to stay. The inside of the cottage is charming and comfortable. The location is perfect to explore the town and get a real feel for the Woodstock experience. We will definitely be back.

Lovely property in a great location
Beautiful & charming are the words that come to mind when describing this cozy cottage. It's right in the heart of Woodstock...you can literally walk to everything the town has to offer, yet it's quietly tucked away so you also get a sense of privacy in a serene setting. We are looking forward to coming back year after year.
