Charming house In a compound of two houses in the green rolling hills of Bearsville. It is 5 mins to Woodstock Village Green. Heated, saltwater pool, hot tub, fireplace. Renovated in a relaxed lodge style. Local Spa 5 mins away.

To relax your mind spirit and body

Come and rejuvenate yourself in the relaxing compound, set in landscaped grounds surrounded by flowering apple trees. There is a 1 bedroom/bath guest house & 2 bedroom 1 bath main house, you can rent either or both together see the 'guest house' listing to book it separately.

Perfect for all four seasons. The tree-ringed houses are in the peaceful hamlet of Bears...ville. It is perfectly private with out being isolated, spend all day and night in the restful grounds or go into town for dinner or drinks. There are a pair of cute local fresh produce markets one walkable, one a bike ride away also great farmers market in the village. Comfortable, modern furnishings, antiques and art throughout the interiors. The property is set back from the road down a long driveway, next to a old-world farm. Fully fenced private property with gate. Well-behaved pets considered.

Well appointed open living room with windows and skylights. central heating plus wood burning fireplace (wood provided). Brand new kitchen, dishwasher and Microwave, all stocked with the basics. Spa-like bathroom with a lovely deep tub and a skylight, relax in while gazing at the stars. 2 Sunny double bedrooms - one King bed one queen bed. Spacious dining area seats 6. Flat screen TV & Wi-Fi in Main house & IPod dock. - Hairdryer, Soaps, fresh new linens & towels provided.

Woodsy open living room with fireplace. There is a sun room to relax in that leads out onto a suntrap patio with a dining table. A favorite room is the dining room, like an old fashioned Captain's cabin wood-lined and super cozy for the best dinner parties, a room for passing the port and telling tall tales.

Local swimming holes a short drive away, or just stay home and relax in the hammocks or swim in the pool. 2 bikes available for use. Yoga mats and blocks etc. also available. Yoga and Pilates classes in town. Local spa less than a mile away. Woodstock art college offers arts and crafts classes. There are also local wineries and vintage shopping in Saugerties. Rock climbing nearby in Minewaska State Park. Omega Institute offers classes, and two Buddhist monasteries are close by and offer day meditation visits.

Violettas, Oriole 9’. Also excellent vegan/veggie options,at Yum Yum or Garden Cafe, or stay home and dine alfresco on the patio under the stars. Barbecue. Walkable to local restaurants, the Bear Café, Little Bear and the local ‘Cub Market’. Great for the Woodstock Writers’ festival in April, or the Woodstock Film Festival also the Bearsville Theater for musical events. Near 3 great skiing centers Hunter Mountain, Windham and Belleayre. 5 minutes away Kenneth Wilson Campground hiking - lake offering canoe and kayak rentals. Also Horse lovers, please take note, convenient to the H.I.T.S for summer times equestrian event.The Hudson River (boating/kayaking/swimming/historic house tours) and The Culinary Institute of America, Bard College/The Fisher Center and many fine museums. Hiking, biking and swimming are just outside your door. Additional bike rentals available in the village.
Travel: driving from nyc is approx 2 hours. The bus from New York or Albany will drop you in Bearsville at the post office next to the Cub Market, a 5 min walk to the property, or you can call Woodstock taxi service to drop you at the house. Easy access in winter. If you prefer you can travel by train to Rhinecliff and taxi from there (approx. 30 min).

  Some people dream of staying in castles, but I've always dreamt of staying in a property like this. The main house is so cozy and comfortable, spacious, clean, and just perfect for my taste. The bathrooms are also gorgeous. One can tell the owner takes pride in making both of the houses look great for their guests with all their attention to details. For example, I love the deliberately placed upside down antler on the wall in the main cabin- the owner really thought about the lighting! It's so lovely in the day and romantic in the night. I was there in the summer and got to enjoy the season by the pool, but can imagine how beautiful it would be looking out of the windows of the main cabin from the living room as the snow falls! The service is excellent and I would recommend this getaway for any season. Looking forward to my next escape to Bearsville!

  Peaceful & Charming Retreat

  My fiance and I stayed at the Bearsville Retreat in the main house for a weekend getaway in February. We wanted to escape from the hustle and bustle of our day to day, enjoy some quality time together, peace and quiet and rest and relaxation. However, we did not want to go too far from the city and we did not want to stay in your everyday run of the mill hotel room. The drive to Bearsville was about two hours. We were extremely delighted when we arrived at the house. The property offered us everything we were looking for and more. The house has a rustic charm with a mixture of simple modern furnishings and a touch of vintage decor. It was private, peaceful, calming and very warm and cozy. The kitchen and the bathrooms were recently renovated and tied in nicely keeping with the overall style and decor of the house. Everything you could possibly need during your stay was provided, like a vacation home away from home. There are many open windows and skylights allowing for a lot of natural lighting and pure enjoyment of the natural setting of the all the surrounding trees. The landlord, Sarah was a pleasure and responded to all my questions prior to and after booking and she provides an unbelievable house manual that details any information you would possibly need to know during your stay including local activities and places to eat. We had a wonderful stay at this cozy retreat and would love to return. We would definitely recommend staying at this property.

  My wife, 2 dogs and I very much enjoyed our 3 day stay here at the Bearsville Retreat. We arrived on the morning of Super Bowl Sunday, skied Belleayre with friends, had a nice dinner in Woodstock and then came back to watch the game in front of a fire while having wine and cheese. Afterwards we enjoyed soaking in the hot tub which felt great because it was probably 10 degrees outside. The house was clean & comfortable and the surroundings very quiet & relaxing.

  The Bearsville Retreat was stunning -- beautiful rustic/minimalist decor in a lovely setting. Communication was great and our welcome couldn't have felt warmer. As much as we loved it, I think our pup loved it even more--nearly 2 acres of fenced in land on which to run free! Great pool, hot tub, firepit. Everything one needs has been though of. Highly recommend!

  My girlfriend and our dog stayed for a weekend in July and had an amazing time. From our initial inquiry to even after our stay Sarah was very responsive and helpful. The property is amazing and very well kept. Upon arrival, she met us with some fresh fruit and Prosecco and helped us get situated. It was one of the hottest weekends of summer and we knew that it had no aC and it was fine at night with the fans. We used her epic house manual as our guide to explore different shops/excursions in town. We had the best time just chilling/eating/drinking by the pool and watching our dog run wild around the fully gated property. The only minor issue was the many many bugs and we had to go out and get bug spray/candles but it was fine. We cant wait to go back!

  ahh thanks for the kind words! Re the bugs yes we get them sometimes - then some times not at all - depending on the rain and the heat - I am often surprised by how few there are compared to NYC. But we do have citronella candles there for guests to use if needed - and both houses are full screened. Stacey, you are welcome anytime you were perfect guests!
