We welcome you to stay in our river stone country house – a wilderness, fairy tale paradise where barred owls send mating calls under a pin-pricked sky and coyotes howl in the distant night … Where the winds sigh gently through mammoth pine trees creating a veil of privacy from the outside world and a burbling brook dances under the rays of a citrus sun … Where inspiration has embraced artists and writers for nearly a century … Where one can walk out the front door and hike for hours in a private and protected 40-acre woodland populated with wildlife – mammals, birds, amphibians, trees, sedges, grasslands, ponds, and streams … Whe...re in less than five minutes you can enter the Woodstock experience – boutiques, live music, cafes, bookstores, fine dining, retro & antique shops, art galleries, drumming circles, and artisan guilds ... Where in thirty minutes you can be skiing down some of New York's finest skiing mountains.

Our magical, fairytale country house easily accommodates eight adults. Four queen-sized bedrooms, each with its own individual flare, allow for privacy and romance. One with a private library and writing desk; one with a screened porch; one with grand, arched ceilings; and one with a cozy, dreamy treehouse view of the private forest.

A newly renovated Italian and Mexican tiled bathroom fulfills the needs of those who prefer showers, while a bathroom with a claw foot, porcelain tub provides a tranquil retreat desired by those who wish to soak amongst the treetops of maples, pines, and oaks of the woodlands. Cotton bedding, down comforters, and superior pillows create a perfect ending to any day.

A renovated, state-of-the-art chef’s kitchen filled with all the modern accoutrements blends old world with new: marble and butcher block countertops, stainless steel appliances, and place settings for twelve. A dining room, complete with wine, beer, champagne and martini glasses, serving ware, and cloth napkins welcomes all to a long, Arts & Crafts table placed under original, open wood beams.

With a stone fireplace, library, and separate eating area, the large living room draws you into its warmth and hominess. Large windows overlook a landscaped, fenced-in yard – a perfect romp for dogs and children – and a backyard view of a new orchard and traditional bluestone patio.

The walls are decorated with original art and reproductions reminiscent of those artists whose lives were shaped here – water, woodlands, boats, and still-lifes.

Grill steaks, chicken, brats, or veggies on the charcoal and gas grills and serve the succulent food al fresco on a blue stone slab table under a lit trellis. Roast marshmallows on the fire pit. Sneak a bit of mountain sun on our chaise lounges. Play a round of croquet or volleyball in the green lawns. Build snowmen in the yard. Make snow angels under a velvet mountain sky. Snowshoe through our forest preserve.

For those who must be tied, even on vacation, to the office, we offer high-speed internet, a printer, WiFi, and unlimited local and long distance phone calls (U.S. and Canada).

We are the proud humans of three dogs that love to travel with us and we welcome you to bring your well-trained canine family members too! A 2.5-acre fenced in area around the house provides Fido and Trudy ample room to run, sniff, chase squirrels, and lounge in the sun and snow!

Our home is situated at the foot of Overlook Mountain, located 1 mile from the Village Green in Woodstock, and is nestled in 40 acres of private land held in conservation easement.

Woodstock offers an eclectic mixture of cultures: a walk back in time to the 1960s; art galleries; boutiques; cafes; fine dining; artists’ guilds; live music; and fresh produce and locally-made products at the weekly Farmers’ Market. The Woodstock Film Festival takes place every October. Neighboring communities – within 20-25 minutes – offer inner tubing, kayaking, music festivals during the summer. We are about 30 minutes from three ski resorts: Belleayre, Hunter, and Windham. The Catskill Mountains offer virtually unlimited hiking opportunities.

  My husband and I had a fabulous stay at this charming stone antique house on wooded property just a 2 minute car ride into the town of Woodstock. We enjoyed sitting by the fire in the living room which is conveniently located closed to the very workable and charming kitchen. The house has all the original woodwork with rough iron hardware and beautiful wood beamed ceilings. I loved the quant kitchen which had enough dishes, pots and pans etc to cook and the bathrooms were equipped with towels and soap. The queen size bed was cozy and the bath was on the same floor as the bedroom. We took walks in town and local hikes and the hilly roads were quiet enough to bike. I would definitely return to this house for a nice get away from NYC. It's large enough to bring more people since we used only one out of the four bedrooms.
