Heather Cottage sat right in the heart of devon, very edge of the lovely rural town of Okehampton. This gorgeous cottage is in a delightful and very convenient location, on the old tramway, it is part of a large Victorian house but totally independent having its own gateway entrance and parking area and garden.
It boasts a large light and modern kitchen, a beautiful sitting and dining room area with, large TV and CD player, music system, as well as modern comfortable sofa, for those cosy nights in by the woodburner. The Victorian style bedroom is large and luxurious with deep comfortable mattress. We are WiFi connected, so if you simp...ly can't leave your work at home, you can connect from the cottage and garden!
And if that wasn't special enough enjoy a bit of added luxury by relaxing in the cedar wood hot tub.
Okehampton, itself, has all the usual amenities of general shopping. There are three supermarkets including Waitrose, as well as independent grocers and butchers. The local Arts Gallery dedicated to local quality artworks (for which you are automatically given 10% discount on all items!), auction rooms, cinema, small museum, Okehampton castle, swimming pool/leisure centre, 2 separate golf courses, mountain bike courses in the woods, horse riding at Eastlake Farm and the granite way cycle path that runs beside the working steam train line from the restored Okehampton station. So you won't be short of things to do! The Youth hostel just moments away offer over 30 activities at a discounted rates for all Heather cottage visitors, not to mention the pubs, restaurants and cafes dotted about the town.
Heather cottage is surrounded by our large private gardens; in which is situated the cedar wood hot tub. Two small stony rustic ponds create a Dartmoor stream ambiance of running water (that can in fact be turned on and off as you wish).
Heather cottage is on the old tramway, now a secluded leafy footpath that takes you directly to the moor from four different points. Adjacent to the tramway is the well known railway station (tourist attraction only) with occasional seasonal steam trains and link to the granite way cycle path with its miles of off-road cycling. (A steam train runs seasonally through the Christmas period 'Polar Express').
At Heather Cottage you may feel like you are in the middle of the countryside but you are literally 8 minutes walk, through the beach tree covered paths above the town park to Okehampton centre. With the joys of feeling cut off from the world whilst still having access to all your everyday conveniences, what could be more perfect?
All in all, Heather cottage is perfectly designed and located for an easy comfortable and relaxing holiday.
