The ‘El Castillo’ is a penthouse located on the fourth floor and is spread over two and a half levels. It has lots of windows, is very light and offers a great view of Amsterdam. The apartment is stylishly decorated yet cosy at the same time. It has a hammock and a several beanbags for you and your company to chill out on. Its most special feature is the roof terrace which is lovely especially with nice weather.

The apartment is located on the Westside of Amsterdam, very close to the famous Haarlemmerplein and Jordaan. These areas have a lot to offer whether you fancy going shopping at the local boutiques or enjoying Amsterdam’s the nightlife.
The apartment is also a few minutes walking distance away from the beautiful Westergasfabriek, a park where many festivals and concerts are held all year round.

The apartment itself is great and if I were just rating the apartment I would definitely award it full marks, the design is fun and very impressive. It is in a really central location and we could easily walk to most of the main attractions. The apartment is on the fourth floor and the stairs are very steep and narrow so would not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues. We booked through Direct Stay and unfortunately the booking process was very frustrating. It takes days for them to reply to emails which is not good if you have booked accommodation fairly last minute. We constantly had to chase them for a reply and for a confirmation that they had received our payment; we paid our security deposit electronically which we were informed would be refunded within 24 hours of checking out, however we had to chase the refund which actually took a week. We would definitely recommend the apartment but I would probably not book again with this company.

You expect steps in amsterdam and for rooftop views, you've got to climb some stairs. This apartment is on the top of the world with views from the rooftop terrace in all directions. The master bedroom is a small glass room adjacent the rooftop terrace. The living quarters are on the floor below with an open-concept living/dining/kitchen. The shower is large and inviting. The second bedroom is small and uninteresting. The whole layout is funky and quirky and not really conducive to daily life. But for a vacation rental, it's a place you'll always remember with fondness. The location is not perfect but it's just on the edge of the Jordaan and all the essentials are nearby. Go for it, you won't regret it.
