Description

“Casa do Paim” (Paim’s House) is a touristic business derived from a one family house built by the current owner’s grandfather, Mr. Paim. As accustomed of the past, houses had a wooden oven inside, a pigsty, a water tank and a “retrete” (old name given to a toilet built outside the house). The House was duly rebuilt by associating traditional architecture to harmonious comfort. The wooden oven, the water tank and the toilet were kept in order to allow visitors to relive the reality of our ancestors. The pigsty was turned into a terrace, but we kept the “chiqueiro”, place where the pig slept.

In this small House, silence is absolute, only interrupted by some birds, like the Shearwater (also known as “yellow-beak-sparrow”). “Casa do Paim” is the ideal place to enjoy dreamy and comfortable holidays in contact with Nature, with view to Pico’s mountain and the neighboring island of São Jorge.

“Casa do Paim” is a Rural Tourism settlement located in the Northern side of Pico island onlu at 20 minutes ride to the highest mountain in Portugal, at 1000 metres of public swming pools and at 3 kms of the Industrial whale museum.
