An ideal large family/group home from home in an ideal setting

The owner was extremely welcoming and accommodating and had given very useful printed advice for use of services within the house and amenities in the area. The provision of kitchen ware, crockery and glassware was excellent and a nice touch was hairdriers in all the bedrooms. Everywhere was very clean and bright and nicely decorated, but not intimidating! The setting in the heart of Wootton-under-Edge was ideal for exploring the Cotswolds and one highlight for us was the excellent playroom for our 2 grandaughters aged 3 and 5.
Perfect family get together home from home.

Pack of tea/coffee biscuits and milk very welcome on arrival. Comfortable and clean throughout and very well enquiped especially the kitchen. Brilliant for children, lots to do in and out of the house, so many lovely touches like a sandpit to keep the little ones happy. Plenty of bathrooms so no queueing. The house was big enough for everyone to find a quiet corner and have their own space. Although comfortable the house was very homely. Quiet location but close to town and shops. Take aways but town lacks restaurants only one Indian and one pub serving food. Travelling throughout the Cotswold is a pleasure and driving was a pleasure, we visited so many amazing places and the brochures and guides supplied by the owners were a great help. We used the wi-fi to great affect to find county highlights. A brilliant base for families and friends.
Excellent place for a 50th birthday

10 of us went to Chipping House to celebrate two 50th birthdays. The house was ideal for this purpose - lots of room, masses of crockery, glasses, books, games etc, an excellent village location in a lovely part of the world.
Spacious, well equipped but felt like someone else's home

A very spacious and comfortable large house, that was well equipped with toys, games etc, but with family photos etc that weren't appropriate to a holiday home. The house immediately adjoins the town car park, but it was helpful to be close to shops etc.
Good place to stay ...

Getting Together in the Cotswold

We flew in from Canada and my son and his family flew in from Japan. He also brought his Japanese in-laws who were anxious to visit the Cotswold so there were seven of us in all. Chipping House was a beautiful surprise - spacious, extremely well-equipped and well maintained. A comprehensive manual was available so we were well able to deal with the various electric/electronic appliances. My grandson made good use of the children's room and the lawn at the rear of the house. On the Sunday several of our English relatives joined us for lunch and we were able to sit sixteen guests around the table (and there were enough Port Meirion dishes!). As our holiday developed we began to appreciate Chipping House's excellent location. We were able to visit many of the beautiful Cotwold villages (use a GPS!), explore Bath, and enjoy a short hike along the Cotswold Way which passes close to Wotton Under Edge. A day trip was also made to Tintern, Chepstow and the Welsh Folk Museum at St. Fagans. When we needed a little help in locating something we went to the tourist office less than seventy metres from Chipping House. They were always very helpful. Of course, we ate many meals at Chipping House but occasionally, after a long trip, we thorougly enjoyed a meal at the Swan. However it was the ambiance of Chipping House that provided us with real comfort and relaxation. Chipping House was a lovely holiday home. The only problem we had was in convincing our Japanese guests that it was safe to sleep on a bed rather than a futon!
Life does not get much better than this!

We thought Chippping House had a wonderful atmosphere,as soon as we walked in we felt at home, although the house is much grander than our own. We had a fanntastic family gathering of our children and grandchildren from around the world and everyone found something to love about the house. The children enjoyed the wide variety of toys, both inside and in the garden; sandpit, slide, paddling pool, a lovely dolls house and even a 'fairy' dress. Catering was really easy in the excellently equiped kitchen and we all enjoyed the spacious feel to the rooms and the comfortable elegant furnishings. We were a bit unsure of booking somewhere in a town, but actually it was ideal for a gathering such as ours. The owner could not have been more helpful. And then God sent the sunshine - life does not get much better. The children wanted us to buy the house!!
