Yachats, Oregon
What's Nearby:
Additional Location Information
Just steps from the craggy coastline, and quiet enough to hear the waves crash, but walking distance to restaurants and shops. A long sandy beach at Yachats Bay is just a few minutes away.
Yachats lies between Newport and Florence on the Central Oregon Coast. It's a sleepy small town with big-city sophistication. The town T-shirts boast "We're all here 'cause we're not all there," and the annual festival is called "La De Da Days." Its combination of sandy beaches and more dramatic craggy shoreline makes it one of the most beautiful spots on the Oregon coast. It has a year-round population of under 700, but because of its popularity as a tourist destination, it offers as many good restaurants, from homey to gourmet, as much larger towns. There's even a farmers market and crafts fair weekly in season. Other events range from a monthly Scrabble night at the library to a variety of music festivals. The climate is temperate, rarely dropping below freezing, with fewer days of rain and more with sun than in Portland!
