Right near Yachats State Park, nestled in a quiet residential neighborhood, lies this classic wood shingled vacation duplex with two bedrooms and one and a half baths. This comfortable home is on a large lot, nestled between tall trees and just steps away from the beach!
The large living room downstairs has a new queen sofa bed and a small, floral-patterned convertible futon day bed. A wood pellet stove set against a rustic brick enclosure provides heat as well as coziness -- perfect on chilly nights, while watching cable TV or checking email with the WiFi. You may even want to gather the whole group around for some games, or send the k...ids outside to play while the adults socialize.
Down the hall, the well-equipped kitchen has all the appliances (including a small dishwasher) needed for preparing meals from blueberry pancakes in the morning to soups and sandwiches for lunch, to pan-fried fish for dinner. A sunny dining room provides nearby table seating for six and also on this level is a large, full bathroom.
The upstairs master bedroom has a comfy queen sized bed and is flooded with light from four skylights and a south facing picture window with a view of the long sandy beach where the Yachats River runs into the ocean. A west facing window is the perfect spot for watching the sun set over the water, while lounging on chairs in the small seating area. There is an en suite water closet as well.
Also upstairs is a smaller, but just as comfortable bedroom with a double sized brass bed, dresser, and reading lamp. This duplex unit can sleep up to six guests comfortably, including one dog for a $10 per day fee.
There is a laundry and utility room with a washer and dryer that is shared with the other one bedroom unit on the other side of the duplex. The back deck, oversized yard, and a charcoal grill is also shared between the two spaces. If renting both units in the duplex, this larger unit is perfect for a bigger family or groups that want to stay together and socialize more.
In winter months, make the short walk to Yachats State Park to view wild waves and possibly sneak a peek at whale migration. The rocky beach is also home to many tide pools, and the park has benches and picnic tables. In clear weather, pack a lunch and make a day of it down by the water!
A short drive east will bring you to the Yachats River where you can fish for trout and fresh water salmon. between April and October, there's smelt (a sardine-like fish) to catch as well. The smelt season is celebrated annually on the second Saturday in July with the Yachats smelt fry, where more than 500 pounds of the fish is cleaned, fried, and served to hungry smelt fans.
Year-round visit downtown Yachats for gallery browsing, wandering around unique shops, and enjoying a tasty meal out. Start the morning at the Green Salmon Coffee Shop, featuring organic and Fair Trade coffees, fresh baked bread, and pastries. If at the end of the day you are too tired from an adventurous day beachcombing the sandy shore, you may just want to pick up a pie at Outta Gas Pizza and relax back at the house, in front of the fire. A memorable time at the beautiful Southern Oregon Coast full of wild ocean waves, scenic views, and good food awaits you at this comfortable two bedroom beach cottage.

We rented both portions of this duplex for for children, spouses & grandchildren for a short getaway to beautiful Yachats. We absolutely loved it! While it is not the most modern home around, it's quaintness has such a charm that I am sure will draw us back again soon. A big plus is its central location in town - just steps away from the park where you can watch a beautiful sunset or 2 blocks from the local market. The home was complete with everything we could need.
