Luxury Apartment in the heart of historic York
York, North Yorkshire, England

Additional Location Information
7 Aspire Holiday Apartment is located less than 100m from Bootham Bar, one of the historic gates to the walled city of York. The apartment has views of York Minster only 250m away to the east, and overlooks St Mary's Abbey walls and ruins to the south. The area around Bootham Bar is a mixture of Regency and Victorian buildings - everything from grand façades to humble red brick, a mixture of retail, office, entertainment and residential properties.
York is one the country's main tourist centres. There is a multitude of things to see and do only minutes away on foot, places to shop as well as cafes, bars and restaurants of all types. York is renowned for its architecture, museums and its cultural heritage, including theatres, cinemas and street entertainment. For those here for a longer stay, the area around York contains many attractions, from stately homes to theme parks, from magnificent countryside to traditional English seaside; the choice of attractions within one hour travelling of York, could fill holidays for years.
York is served by a main-line railway station and national coach links, which arrive just a 3 minute taxi ride from the apartment. For those arriving by car/motorcycle, York is accessed from a network of good quality motorways and dual carriageways, with free parking for one vehicle provided in the public car park adjacent to the apartment, and secure cycle storage/motorcycle parking on the ground floor. York is 45 minutes drive from Leeds/Bradford airport, less than an hour's drive from Robin Hood Airport (Doncaster) and about one and a half hour's drive from Manchester and East Midlands airports, served by a mixture of scheduled, charter and low-cost airlines from around Europe and beyond.
For our long-haul visitors arriving at London-Heathrow airport, guests should allow 6+ hours from landing if driving to York (90mins baggage/immigration/car rental collection, 4½ hours driving/rest stops), or 4+ hours if taking the train to York (60mins baggage/immigration, 60mins Piccadilly-line underground to Kings Cross railway station, ~2 hours Kings Cross to York). If taking the train, don't be tempted to take the Heathrow Express - this is a fast rail link to Paddington, however, once you get to Paddington you still need to get to Kings Cross, involving either a taxi or a switch to the underground anyway; the time saved is minimal, involves more bag carrying, and is more expensive!

An extremely luxurious apartment in a fantastic central location. The parking permit was a real bonus and the convenience of a Local Sainsbury's store beneath the apartment was so convenient. The apartment far exceeded our expectations, very modern, really well equipped with top quality beds, linen & towels. The standard of service offered by the owner & Christine, the housekeeper, goes far beyond what would be expected. We enjoyed an incredible weekend in a beautiful city, we even saw the sun! Will look forward to our next visit.

We have made many visits to York and this was far superior to the rentals we have had previously. It was conveniently situated in the heart of York, steps from the Minster with a Sainsbury's supermarket below, and several good restaurants within easy walking distance. The electronics, fitments and showers were of a high standard. The beds were especially comfortable with high grade linens and duvets. Easy internet access. Free parking close to the apartment and excellent security were added benefits. We plan to return next year.

Left on 04/11/2013 for a stay in April 2013
Rather than taking the usual hotel option, we chose to stay at 7 aspire for a 3 night stay in april 2013, and we were absolutely delighted with that decision.
The property is superbly located close to Bootham Bar, which is one of the ancient gateways into the old city and 5 mins walk from the Minster, pubs, restaurants, shops and other attractions. It is also very close to the start of the open-top bus tour.
The apartment is on the 3rd (top) floor of the building, with a rather handy Sainsburys Express mini supermarket on the ground floor (which is open until midnight). It is the corner flat so has great views in 2 directions across the city, including a view of the Minster towers.
It is very modern, spotlessly clean, superbly equipped and very comfortable in all areas. An open plan kitchen, living area and two large bedrooms. The children were particularly delighted with the enormous flat screen 3D TV (glasses supplied!), BluRay DVD, and a large selection of films to watch. There is also a large flat screen TV in the main bedroom. Freesat TV channels available. Of course, the modern day essential of WiFi available at great speeds - iPads and iPhones all connected and working as quickly as you would expect at home.
There is a car park next to the building, and a parking pass was provided for the duration of our stay.
The only minor down-side was that the only lift in the building went out-of-service on the 2nd day of our stay.
Overall we would highly recommend this property as a self-catering alternative to a hotel and we are looking forward to a return visit in future. -

We are frequent visitors to York and found 7aspire to be the best place we have stayed. The apartment is luxurious, spacious and very well equipped. It is close to all major attractions, being literally a couple of hundred yards from the Bootham Bar entrance to the city and just around the corner from Gillygate. For self-catering we used the Sainsbury’s Local on the ground floor and there are many eating-places within walking distance. We especially liked the Italian on Gillygate. The owners offer a free parking permit to the adjoining car park, which in York is a fantastic bonus. All in all a great place to stay.

A lovely well equipped apartment. We were met by the housekeeper who showed us all we needed to know and handed us the car parking permit, the car park is just around the corner. Great location, just outside the City Walls and within a few minutes walk of the Minster. Superbly appointed throughout. Highly recommended. Personally not sure I like the mechanical ventilation system as I like to sleep with a window open, but don't let that put you off, this really is a great place to stay.

We stayed at 7 apsire over Christmas, it was clean, nicely furnished and near everything. One of the best things was the flat was in the same building as Tescos: No worrying about where to get food to feed the kids! We enjoyed visiting our family and going to the famous Panto!

Superb apartment with all the high end fixtures and fittings, booking process very easy, Christine met us on arrival and explained things quite simply. That said, the key attraction of the apartment is its location. Its not 'near' or 'close to' its smack in the centre.None of the must dos are more than 15 minutes away and most - the river, the Minster, The Shambles, are less than 10.York is a great town for most interests - history, trains, historic buildings, dining and drinking.
Well worth a visit.

OxfordLuxury retreat close to the middle of York
Left on 11/04/2012 for a stay in October 2012
We walked to the apartment from the railway station - a pleasant walk, and in under quarter of an hour we were at the apartment. Christine greeted us, showed us around and was really helpful and friendly. We've stayed in several apartments in York - as a family, it's nicer to have a living space to share, rather than staying in separate hotel rooms. This apartment more then met our expectations, and made our stay a real pleasure. The owners have provided touches that make the place really comfortable -the sofa was big enough for a family of four to stretch out on, and the beds were wonderfully comfortable. The rooftop views were great - we hadn't expected the Minster to be quite so close, and because we were on the top floor, it was extremely quiet for such a central location. Looking forward to our next visit!

Banbury, OxfordshireExcellent accommodation in great location for visiting York
Left on 11/03/2012 for a stay in October 2012
This is a well equipped, spotless, very comfortable, very new second floor apartment, located a few minutes walk from Bootham Bar and the Minster. Access is by lift or stairs. The owners were very helpful and responsive with information and instructions and the housekeeper Christine made us very welcome and showed us round the apartment. Two bedrooms - one en suite plus a bathroom. The beds are firm and comfortable with lovely down duvets, and fluffy towels are supplied. There are two large plasma TVs. It comes with a parking permit for the nearby public car park, which in York is invaluable. There is also a Sainsbury's Local supermarket on the ground floor so it is great for self-catering. Despite the city centre location, it is not noisy. (Generally very good for older people and it would also be perfect for wheelchair users were it not for the step from the lift area on second floor to the front door on a walkway).
Hard to fault and we would recommend to anyone. -

This is an excellent apartment, in an ideal location. The parking provided is convenient. The owner was punctual in their response to enquiries and had clear and easy booking/arrival instructions. The housekeeper was accommodating to arrival needs and was friendly and reliable. We had a most relaxing break and encountered no problems whatsoever. I would most definitely book to stay here again and wholeheartedly recommend this apartment.

Left on 09/17/2012 for a stay in September 2012
The apartment was brand-new and had everything you could possibly want to enjoy your stay- and more. There were even hair straighteners, not to mention two hair dryers, and a 3D TV! A nice touch was the sparkling wine in the fridge to greet us as the very first guests! The furnishings and the entire apartment was of first-class quality. The location was brilliant, just a couple of minutes away from York Minster and we even had a view of the Minster from some of the windows. Wonderfully quiet too even though it was so central. We can't wait to stay here again!
