The rental unit is the downstairs floor, with the upstairs being reserved for us, a quiet couple with no children who are at the house about half the time. If we're home, you will hear footsteps and water running and all the normal things, but you have an entirely separate unit with no interior connection between our living space and yours.

      Fabulous

Left on 10/11/2012 for a stay in September 2012

This place was very up to date with modern amenities. Very homey and comfortable. No television service, but a lot of Dvd's available to watch. Unit was stocked with maps and books of information about the park. Loved it. Would recommend to everyone.

Great Place to Stay - 30 Minutes to Main Attractions

Left on 09/04/2012 for a stay in August 2012

The house is just as pictured. New and Clean. Kitchen has everything you need to cook. Washer and Dryer is helpful. 30 minutes to Mariposa Grove, Glacier Point and Yosemite Valley. Do the Sentinal Dome Hike by Glacier Pt. 1 hour hike but spectacular. Go to Glacier Pt. for sunset. Go to the very end. Did the Taft Hike also by Sentinal Dome.Hold on to any kids since the cliffs are sheer drops. Tram ride through Mariposa Grove fun. Gas up while you are there. Definitely fill up with gas before you get to Yosemite, otherwise 30 minutes to any gas station and prices high. Owners are very helpful.

      Relaxing and Comfortable Stay

Left on 06/30/2012 for a stay in June 2012

We had a very relaxing six days at this bottom level apartment. Tom and Theresa were helpful answering our questions and giving us some tips. The cookie dough was an added special treat.

There were three of us (wife, adult daughter and I) that stayed here. The bedroom was good size and the bed very comfortable. The daybed in the corner of the living room was just right for our daughter and comfortable also. We cooked our breakfast and supper each day in the apartment and took a picnic lunch with us each day hiking. The kitchen area is very nice and the gas grill came in handy also. Tom and Theresa provide some of the basics that in order to buy when you are flying would not be practical (quantity wise). They have really made the stay extra special. Also, because of hiking everyday, it was nice to be able to do laundry before we left for the next part of our vacation and having the washer and dryer easily accessible with soap was very nice.

Our stay here was one of the best ever that we have had on vacation.

Thanks so much Tom & Theresa

      What a great find

Left on 06/12/2012 for a stay in June 2012

We feel so fortunate to have found alpine Escape for our visit to Yosemite. It could not have been more perfect. The rental is immaculate, modern, and in a great location outside the hussel and bussel of Yosemite. The pictures do not do it justice. Waiting for us upon arrival was a bottle of wine and frozen cookie dough to bake. Both were an unexpected and much enjoyed treat. However, the best part of our stay was getting to know Tom and Theresa. Their hospitality and advice cannot be beat. We had the added pleasure of hearing some very interesting nature stories and learning about rock climbing. You could not find a better place to vacation.

      Hi Doris,

It was a pleasure for us to get to meet you too! We loved your passion for the park and your enthusiasm for learning new things. I haven't forgotten your request for a picture of our yard once its started to flower either. We're starting to get a few mysterious asters, and the lupine seem close, but have yet to flower.

      Absolutely perfect base in Yosemite

Left on 05/07/2012 for a stay in April 2012

We stayed at alpine Escape for 4 nights during our honeymoon to California.

The service from Tom was fantastic from the moment that we first booked (including advice on snow and tyre chains which fortunately was not required) - very prompt and helpful replies. When we arrived Tom gave us a friendly welcome and there was a complimentary bottle of wine and frozen cookie dough in the apartment - both of which were lovely surprises.

The location is great - Yosemite West is in the park, around 30-40 mins from Glacier Point, Yosemite Valley and Wawona. It's quiet and the properties all seem v spacious (this is no exception!).

The property itself is very modern and stylish inside. The kitchen was huge and well equipped. There was a washing machine and drier for taking care of dirty hiking kit. There was a really good mix of Dvds. All in all it was a really comfortable and pleasurable place to spend an evening after a day outside. We loved it.

We spent four nights in Yosemite during Spring Break with our two kids aged 10 & 8. The property was extremely nice with really nice facilities. It is furnished and finished to high specs. Theresa was very helpful and friendly with any questions or issues we had. I would highly recommend this property.

Left on 05/04/2012 for a stay in April 2012

We found the alpine Escape Yosemite Rental as pictured on their website, except maybe bigger. All was very clean & neat. It was extremely nice to have a washer & dryer available. Laundry soap was provided. The appliances are high quality & the water...not hard like mine :) The only cooking items I missed in the kitchen, my fake wooden spoon & spatula. Tom was helpful with information on a park entrance closure. I wish we would have had a day just to relax in their beautiful home!
Be sure to check Tom's hiking tips. The hike near the house was refreshing, like being one with nature.

      So glad we stayed!!

Left on 04/11/2012 for a stay in August 2011

First off I would to like to say a big thank you to Tom and Theresa for a lovely two night stay and making us feel very welcome. Even after we initially booked Tom was extremely helpful and give us the best tips and advice for directions and recommendations on the must see things to do in Yosemite. In terms of location and planning out the short time hear place was ideal for us; Only 20 mins drive to the centre of the Valley and positioned almost on the foot of the road up to glacier point, which also bypasses a nice short walk up to Sentinel Dome. The apartment itself is very well furnished with very modern amenities and plenty of space to accommodate to four people. They also have a good range of Dvd's to watch, so it was nice to snuggle up on the sofa after a long day of exploring and relax; just like being back home. We are so glad we chose alpine Escape over the hotels in the Valley and we won’t hesitate to book again in the future on our next trip to Yosemite

Cozy and comfortable stay with friendly hosts

Left on 02/23/2012 for a stay in December 2011

This is long overdue as we stayed there in Dec 2011.

Yosemite was our second stop in our San Francisco/California trip. Prior to arriving in Yosemite or even us, there were already some correspondence between me and the host, Tom. And they already provided some helpful tips and guide.

The home was cozy and comfortable, and well kept too. We had everything we needed. The washer and dryer definitely came in handy since we had two young kids with us for the whole trip.

The host seemed like active hiker/climber and it showed when they were sharing with us what we could do in the park. We wished we had planned more days there as there were quite a few things we could have done.

Believe it or not, our kids enjoyed the house so much that they still mention about "Uncle Tom's house in america" every know and then !

Left on 09/19/2011 for a stay in September 2011

This place was perfect!!! The pictures on the web site are exactly what you get. Clean, and modern condo with just the right amenities for a stay in the park. We were there for 6 nights. Hiked everyday and absolutley loved coming back to Tom and Theresa's little gem for relaxing at night. No cell, internet, or TV, but they supply a very varied selection of Dvd's which we could watch while drinking wine and preparing for the next day's hike. Location is perfect for hiking up by Glacier Road but there was no problem getting to anywhere in the park from there. Would stay here again in a minute---loved the place!!!

Modern comfort, peace and quiet minutes from Yosemite Valley

Left on 08/29/2011 for a stay in August 2011

We stayed at Tom and Theresa's vacation rental last week and had a completely positive experience. When my boyfriend and I return to Yosemite, we will definitely stay here again.

What: A private apartment inside Yosemite National Park in a small subdivision called Yosemite West. Perfectly located about 15-20 minutes from the Valley, Glacier Point and Wawona/Mariposa Grove (OK maybe a few more minutes to there).

What we liked: We liked getting away from the tourists/crowds in Yosemite Valley and enjoying a home away from home with our own kitchen, washer/dryer, etc. Even though Tom and Theresa live upstairs, they were very respectful of our privacy. They are incredibly responsive to questions and their management of the unit is outstanding.
The apartment is spacious and literally brand new. The photos are very reflective of what to expect -- it's gorgeous and comfortable.

Pros: A great place for independent travelers to enjoy beautiful Yosemite, especially those who enjoy the convenience of being able to have a few meals at home. Comfy bed, couch, brand new flat screen and a gorgeous granite kitchen that I wish I had at home. Grill, some coffee, a special treat or two, and laundry detergent were provided which lightened our shopping load a bit.

Cons: No satellite TV or internet service. Cells do not work at the house (but they also don't work in many places in the Park). We actually ended up enjoying being off the grid, but if you need internet, you need to go to a hotel in the Valley and pay for access. There is a small outdoor patio outside the private entrance, but no view if that's important to you.

Tips: We enjoyed sunsets at "Tunnel View" near the Wawona tunnel on the way home from the Valley to Tom & Theresa's most nights (with a little wine). I loved that we were so close to Glacier Point! Our favorite adventures were hiking out to Taft Point from Glacier Point Road and the Panorama Trail (8.5 mi and brutal steps down for the last 2.5 miles, but an amazing way to see the Valley -- buy tix for the 8:30am Glacier Point tour bus from Yosemite Lodge tour desk; park at Yosemite Lodge, take bus up, hike down and take free shuttle back to the Lodge where you can have a celebratory beer in the Lounge or dinner at the Mountain Room).

If you've not been to Yosemite, all I can say is go! And, of course, Tom and Theresa's place is the perfect place to stay. So glad I found them on Tripadvisor. Enjoy.

A perfect Yosemite home away from home

Left on 06/20/2011 for a stay in June 2011

Tom and Theresa's place is sparkling clean, modern, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed and stocked (spices, coffee, Dvd's, games, and a little welcome gift). My husband and two young children stayed at alpine Escape for just a weekend, but were very impressed with the space and everything provided. It is about half an hour away from Yosemite valley which was perfect for us to be away from the crowds and come home to what felt like our own private and peaceful sanctuary. Tom and Theresa were very easy to communicate with prior to our arrival, provided some tips for hikes with our young children, and were a great pleasure to meet as well! We are definitely coming back to Yosemite and would love to stay here again!

      Perfect!

Left on 05/28/2011 for a stay in May 2011

My boyfriend and I stayed here for three nights in May, and it was an absolute gem. I think it's worth staying outside of the tourist madness of the centre of Yosemite not only for the quiet neighbourhood, but also the drive in and our of central yosemite. You go past some stunning views, including the famous tunnel view. I never got tired of seeing it as we drove back and forth. The drive into Yosemite Valley takes about 15-20 mins.

Tom and Theresa were perfect hosts, Theresea emailed me a lot of detailled information before we came, indlucing driving directions and what the weather was likely to be like (though it's madly unpredictable). It was fantastic to be greeted with a bottle of wine and cookie dough to help ourselves to, as well as a visit from Tom and Theresa themselves, who popped down to check we arrived OK and to give us some info on the area. The apartment itself was everything we needed - and a washing machine a very welcome extra, as we were running close to low on all clean clothes! After staying in hotels and eating out for most of our trip in the us it was great to have all the self catering facilities of a kitchen, plus tupperware tubs etc for taking out picnics in the daytime. A tip for self catering would be to hit one of the big supermarkets in the small town outside Yosemite - more choice of foods and a bit cheaper, but remember to take all food out of your car so bears don't get to it! The bed gave a good night's sleep and bathroom was excellent also.

I would love to visit Yosemite again and would not hesitate to stay here. Staying with people who know and love the area is so much more worthwhile than being in a faceless hotel!

      Fantastic

Left on 05/18/2011 for a stay in April 2011

We had a great time in Yosemite and it was the highlight of our trip around California. Staying at Tom and Theresa's helped to make it great - they are so hospitable and friendly and the apartment is lovely - it really does have everything you need. Toms advice on where to go and what to do was brilliant - we loved staying there, a little bit outside Yosemite Village, but really good in terms of location. It was warm (important in apri with snow on the ground!!) and really comfortable. I would highly recommend to anyone going to Yosemite to stay in Tom and Theresas.

Not only are you located within a national treasure, you'll have great accommodations and very friendly, knowledgeable hosts. The apartment is very nice and is bigger than it looks. All incidentals are provided and there's plenty of room to cook if you choose. Tom & Theresa are excellent hosts and are an abundance of knowledge on the park and what it offers. Location is central to all that Yosemite has to offer.

      Fantastic Yosemite Getaway

Left on 02/24/2011 for a stay in February 2011

My family and I stayed at this property over President's weekend and we couldn't have been more pleased. The house is incredibly clean and nice, with hardwood laminate floors, granite counter tops, new appliances, a lovely bath area, and a washer/dryer. The home's owners live upstairs and couldn't have been more welcoming. During our first evening we got snowed in, but Tom and Theresa made us forget that we had even wanted to go skiing by helping us find the perfect location to sled with our kids and also introducing us to some families so the kids could all play together in the snow. I've stayed at other Yosemite West locations, but never one as clean and nice as this one or with such gracious hosts. We will definitely come again soon!

Left on 01/04/2011 for a stay in December 2010

Can't say enough about Tom and Theresa and their beautiful accomodations in the heart of Yosemite National Park. I had several questions from soup to nuts and Tom was available to answer them every step of the way. Traveling into the mountains in the dead of winter with a two year old is no small feat, and Tom was able to guide me in the preparation process. Their home had everything you needed for an extended stay, brand new appliances, washer/dryer, 47 inch flat screen, besides being gorgeous and sparking clean. The beds were amazingly comfortable. We got a good nights sleep after a long day of fun in the snow, ready for more the next day. We can't wait to book with Tom and Theresa again for some spring time Yosemite fun.
