Sacramento, CaliforniaWould stay here again
Left on 11/23/2012 for a stay in October 2012
Three of us went to Yosemite on a ladies retreat and to celebrate a birthday in Oct. 2012. This was our first trip to Yosemite, and Cozy Bear Cottage was perfect for us. Loved that it was within the park. The decor was charming. Didn't mind taking the few steps between each level. It was sooo much better than a hotel. The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen (though small), which helped reduce eating out expenses. The owner (Neal) was friendly, very accommodating, and very prompt in returning our deposit (with a very nice note). Great trip and lovely place to come back to after exploring the beauty of the park. Neal also sent us great directions. We definitely would stay here again.

Cozy Bear (south) was the perfect size for our family of four. Cheerfully decorated with bears everywhere. All of us, even my husband, thought all the animals were very cute. There was a plush bear on every bed. The mattresses were soft and comfortable. But the best thing was the thread count on the sheets. So luxurious! The kitchen was well stocked; pots, pans, dishes were like new. We put the kids in charge of the dishwasher, it was great. We tried to use the gas BBQ grill outside on the spacious patio. It appeared to be low on fuel. We called Neal and Carol, the owners who live next door. Neal came over right away with a new fuel tank, he installed it and fired it up. The owners, Neal and Carol were so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We stayed here for five days and we always seemed to have a question for them. They made us feel so welcomed and at home. We will always remember their hospitality and the great time we had here.

I stayed there with my wife and 3 teenagers there last month. Per ther owners suggestion we filled up on groceries in Oakdale and only ate out for two meals in the valley. We saved alot of money on food staying there. We would definitely stay there again if we came with our family. The owners live next door and provided good advice on touring the area. They are very helpful.
The location is a 5 minute drive into Yosemite West but very convenient to Glacier Point Road. The drive into the valley was 35 minutes and seemed very easy. The only thing they need is wifi. -

We stayed here early last June when the snow was still on the ground. I found it to be a clean, quiet, and comfortable location. It was convenient to all parts of the park and we saved money by cooking our own food as there are very few choices in the park and most are over priced and crowded. Fortunately, we bought our supplies in Mariposa-the last place to have a supermarket. I would stay here again if I visit the park.

KLThe Ultimate in Cozyness!
Left on 10/08/2011 for a stay in September 2011
We spent two glorious nights here and loved every minute of it. The unit is one half of a duplex and is made up of a sitting room with a stone fireplace, a fully stocked kitchen, a shared utility/laundry room, one bathroom and two bedrooms.
There was no one younger than 30 in our group but all of us were bowled over the moment we walked into the sitting room. Cozy Bear lived up to its name and the first thing that we all agreed on was how homely and cozy the entire cottage was. Bears adorn almost every nook and cranny of the cottage. Children would love the place to bits!
The location of the cottage is in Yosemite West, between the valley and Wawona. The cottage itself is within a community but you wouldn't be able to tell once you're indoors as the only sounds you'll hear are those of rustling leaves and crickets. It was so serene and peaceful. The kitchen opens to a patio that has a gas BBQ and a large table for six. Laundry and dish-washing detergent is provided as well as the standard bathroom amenities. The shower pressure and drainage were very good and every part of the unit is well-lit. The bedding was super comfy and there was no shortage or pillows and cushions! There is a good DVD collection, some board games and we loved the little touches of finding books inside the bedside drawers and around the fireplace - just like where we'd put/leave them at home! There is no wi-fi or phone connection but you won't need either as you'll be too busy connecting with nature.
The owners, Neal (a lovely man) and Carol, live almost next door and were never intrusive. There was absolutely no reason to look them up since everything in the unit was so accessible and easily found. It was like returning to our own home.
We only chanced upon Cozy Bear as The ahwanee was full. That turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Unlike the Cozy Bear, the hotel is located in the valley and the area was completely overrun with campers and visitors. Returning to our peaceful and cozy cottage was pure bliss after a long day's hike. We can only imagine how magical the cottage can be during winter. We will definitely return. -

Just stayed at the Cozy Bear Cottages, we spent the day exploring Yosemite which was very crowded and crazy at times so it was very nice to end the day at Cozy Bear Cottages with cold drinks on the quiet patio. I would stay there again and I recommend it to anyone. The location couldn'y have been better!

We have stayed at Cozy Bear for many years and continue to go there whenever we can.
It is by far one of the best places to stay at while visiting Yosemity. Carol and Neal are good people, eazy to get along with and the perfect host and hostess.
Over the years they became very good friends as well.
An excellent stay indeed!!
