What Past Guests Are Saying
Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Youhal come back now, ya hear? We will...and we did!
My wife, children (3 1/2 yrs & 1 1/2 yrs), mother (85) and her sister (83) stayed in this wonderful house for 10 days in the summer of 2009. It truly became our home away from home (Toronto, Canada) for that week-and-a-half.
The accommodations are modern while still maintaining the structure's original old charm. There was ample space for the children & plenty of rooms for everyone - and then some! The semi-detached 3-storey house is mere minutes walking distance to the wonderful beaches, local shops & pubs. The views from the kitchen, living room & sitting room are spectacular overlooking the water. The sound of the tide coming in at night would constantly lull me to sleep.
It was a wonderful vacation - it was also the final time my mother would be back in her native Ireland. She thoroughly enjoyed it. Her entry in the on-site guest book is far more eloquent than I could attempt to be here.
* * * * *
We returned to the very same house to close out our Irish vacation in the summer of 2012. It was marvelous to return to the familiar surroundings. This time we were certainly missing mum - but her sister, who lives in Ireland, joined us again for a couple of days. The children were now 6 1/2 & 4 1/2.
What made our return visit special in another way was that our friends from Toronto, with their 2 children, booked the adjacent house (#4) for the exact same week. Martin also owns that property and both houses are immaculate. So we had the play-dates daily for the children going from house to house, the beach, etc. - and the adults could sit on the patio or in each others kitchens for lunches & dinners. It was a fantastic time once again. We were a 30-minute drive to Cork. We did road trips to Fota Wildlife Park and Blarney Castle.
When you arrive you know where to access your key - you enter the house to a welcoming vase of fresh flowers & a bottle of wine. Nice touches. There is WiFi which was essential for me to work remotely - a pile of children's Dvds and other movies for the parents. If there is ever an issue Martin lives so close and is only a phone call away. Always attentive and never intrusive. It's just fantastic peace of mind that you made a great decision on accommodations and will totally enjoy the holiday you so deserve.

No 4 - Gorgeous property and views
We stayed at 4 Clifton for a short weekend break at the end of april. You'd expect the weather to be warming up at that time of year, but it was blowing a gale and freezing! Never mind - it gave us an excuse to stay indoors and make the most of the beautiful property.
The house is gorgeous and refurbished to an exacting standard (much better than we have at home!) Everything is fitted out to a really high spec and tastefully decorated. The kitchen/diner gives you the first great view of the sea. Go upstairs and the view from the lounge gets even better. Up to the master bedroom and the view widens even more. While the wind whistled outside, we enjoyed sitting in the lounge bathed in the warm glow of the sun, watching its rays bounce beautifully off the sea.
And after getting wet, what better way to warm up than to enjoy a relaxing bubble bath in the roll top bathtub? Heaven!
We didn't make it onto the beach, but we did enjoy exploring the town and its many historical places of interest, including the old church. We also enjoyed the local 'black soup' (Murphys) and ate the most fabulous fish at ahernes. It was our first visit and it impressed us a great deal - we will return.
