Thank you to Dee for making sure everything was as expected and helping out if we needed anything. The condo had everything you would need for food prep, entertainment, and just plain relaxing. The 2 infinity pools were a joy at the end of day for cooling off and meeting others in the condo. We felt very safe and secure. The walk to the beach is a few blocks down the hill. The walk back up could be challenging for those not use to the exercise but there are cabs waiting to take you back up the hill for a nominal cost. The local people of Zihu were great even if we could not speak the same language the smiles, nods, and hellos were easy to understand. We also felt very safe on the beach in the evening. One warning...take tours from the tour companies, or suggested by others who know. We had a bad experience by working with a waiter in one of the restaurants and paid for it with a severe case of food poisoning.

The Marlin House was everything we expected -- clean, well equipped and supplied, and offering a mesmerizing view morning, noon and night. It was also a plus to have the owners Dee & Mike nearby to provide information. Even the fishing trip on the Huntress was a quality experience. Others who rent The Marlin House should try to have at least one meal at both il Mare and Casa Que Canta, but the latter requires a reservation so call ahead. Dinner on La Ropa Beach at Paty's with our toes in the sand was another nice experience. All-in-all our stay was a good value.

This property is fabulous. The views were fantastic. The rooms were large and comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed. There were lots of restaurants (beware of happy hour). Mike & Dee treated us like family and gave advice for everything. Oh, I forgot the fishing, we went out three times. Captains Mike and Francisco are real pro's. It was great too! They even arranged a snorkel trip with Captain Carlos to Ixtapa Island where Fernando took care of everything. (gear, a guide and a superior meal) We are already thinking of going back.

My boyfriend and I just spent four wonderful nights at The Marlin House. The condo itself is beautifully appointed and stocked with anything and everything you could need. The views are unparalleled - absolutely breathtaking. I loved the open air feel to the space. The pools were perfect - gorgeous, clean, quiet and well-maintained. We actually loved the condo so much, we didn't spend much time exploring the area - we just couldn't make ourselves leave! Dee and Mike were extremely nice and hospitable. They went out of their way to make us happy and comfortable during our stay. We're already looking forward to our next visit!

The Marlin House exceeded all of my expectations. Great location with wonderful hosts! The airport pickup was so comforting after traveling for so long, especially with two children (ages 8 and 2 1/2). The kitchen was stocked with just enough stuff so that we didn't have to worry about anything right away. Mike and Dee were helpful with directions and information about things we wanted to do. The home was perfect for us. There were beach towels and floats for the pool, even "floaties" for our 2 1/2 year old. The balcony off the bedroom was nice, and even nicer that you could close the door if you didn't want your little one to go out there. The pictures are very accurate but don't quite do it justice. Air-conditioning in the bedrooms was very nice to have. The complex has two nice infinity pools with awesome views and very close to La Playa Ropa, 5-10 min walk. There are stairs, so if you don't like to walk up hill, just take a taxi back! Very safe, very secure, someone at the guard station 24 hours and they do ask for information until they get to know you. The attendants are more than happy to call a taxi for you, just about 30-40 pesos back and forth to the center of town. You can actually walk to town as well if you are up for it. There is filtered water and even drops to soak fruit and veggies. Wi-Fi throughout the condo. Tvs in both bedrooms but if was much more fun to just sit on the coach and look outside. Maids don't come everyday but that just perfect, 2x a week is all we needed. We also took advantage of the fishing on the Huntress, which was awesome. Captain Francisco and Captain Mike are the best. The whole stay in Zihua was wonderful, in large part because of Dee and Mike and The Marlin House. We can't wait to go back!

Dee and Mike made this a great experience for our trip. My fiance and I stayed her for 5 nights and loved it. Beautiful property and the condo is spectacular. Open air rooms while you can shut doors in the bed room to keep cool with a a/C f you wish. The view is worth the 5 stars in itself. Easy to walk to the beach, restaurants, and downtown and it takes less than 5 minutes to get a taxi if needed. 2 infinity pools make a great place to enjoy a beer or cocktail for a sunset. The staff on property are friendly. All in all a great place to stay while being hosted by a great couple!

Absolutely one of the best vacations we've had! It was such a pleasure staying at The Marlin House. Beautifully decorated, plenty of amenities, fantastic service and the best views! Location was great too...five minute walk to the beach. The open air living spaces make for a very special tropical vacation. The condo was so much more than we expected. It was the perfect place for our family. Lots of extras included (fresh flowers, beer, wine, refreshments and even treats for our children)! We hope to return again next year.

Left on 12/13/2011 for a stay in December 2011
My husband and I, along with my parents, stayed for a week at the 'Marlin House' 2 in early December. It is a beautifully furnished condo and was very roomy and comfortable for 2 couples.
The photos don't lie- it really is as lovely as it appears in pictures! The condo is quite high up on the hill so you get a wonderful view of the bay from both the open-air living room and the large master balcony, complete with sunsets nightly.
The kitchen is very well-equipped, oven/stove/microwave/full size fridge and water purification system. Dee and Mike were great hosts, if he is not busy Mike will even do airport pick-ups! We arrived to fresh flowers and beer and wine and soda in the fridge, very thoughtful touches! And they are on-site residents too, so always available if you have any questions or issues.
You could cook every meal in the condo, if you so choose- we made a quick trip to the grocery store for supplies and had snacks and breakfasts but ate out every night since Zihuatanejo has a wealth of great restaurants.
This was our fifth trip to Zihua but first time staying on La Ropa, and we really enjoyed this area. I think we will be staying on La Ropa from now on- the beach is much nicer than Madera, and it is very quiet and peaceful at night. Although it is far enough from Centro to necessitate more taxi rides than staying on Madera, they are cheap (35 pesos) and we never had to wait more than 5 minutes for one to come when the (24 hour security) guard would call. There are stairs down to the road and an elevator to this fourth floor unit, so it is not very hard to navigate at all.
The two infinity pools were wonderful too, and the larger one a very good size! Not too cold as many pools tend to be in Mexico, since this area is so warm all winter. Perfect temp! And at least during our stay it was never hard to get a lounger or find shade by the pool.
We all highly, highly recommend The Marlin House! -

Left on 11/08/2011 for a stay in November 2011
This vacation was one of the best vacations of my lifetime. Waking up to the glorious, open windowed view of the mountains and the pacific, is the best way to start your day. In addition, all the added amenities, made me feel comfortable and at home, in a foreign place. The hosts of the Marlin House are always ready with several options of day, nighttime, and dinner activities... and that's why it's like they are like your personal tour guides. One of the best recommendations was fishing on the "Huntress.” Francisco and his assistant knew how to read the "signs of the sea”, as far as where the best fishing is located, and the movement of the fish.
I have only been home for 2 days, and I am so sad I had to leave such a wonderful country and environment. The people make a vacation wonderful, and that is why I will return whenever possible.

The view from the condo is spectacular, and it is fun to watch the fishing boats race in every night at sunset. The condo is immaculate, and these photos don't do it justice. We were lucky enough to witness the sea turtles being born at Paty's one night, and fishing with Francisco was the best. We not only caught fish, but Francisco took us to Ixtapa Island and had a chef prepare them for our lunch while we snorkeled. I couldn't have wished for a better vacation. Mike and Dee have great suggestions on what to do where to go out and eat, and they know all the restaurants. Taxis and the town bus are easily accessible and cheap. We had so much fun we can't wait to return. The weather is beautiful everyday, the pools are great after a day on the beach or a day in town. It's everything we could ever want out of a vacation.

We had the most amazing time. For a girlfriend week this will be hard to top. The condo has a show-stopping view that spans the entire bay below. The rooms are open and airy and beautifully decorated. Mike and Dee were wonderful hosts who pointed us to the best retaurants, fishing and souvenir shops. All the little touches made it feel like home from the blow dryer to the great blender for pina coladas. The infity pools were enticing for the days we came home hot from the beach. Every possible activity you could want is close by, from parasailing to snorkeling to sailing to fishing to shopping. The public bus was so much fun to ride into town for a cost of about 5 pesos or roughly 50cents. The mexican people are warm and welcoming. Haggling for souvenirs is almost like a sport here. I would go again and highly reccomend the Marlin House as the perfect place to stay.

We live on the east coast of the us and have previously visited Mexico on the Gulf... decided to try the Pacific and discovered a truly wonderful place. The Condo could get a 4 star rating, quality furnished, clean and the folks in charge were more than helpful in getting settled and pointing us to the sights and places to go. The view from this condo as well as from the entire complex was perfect. About a 10 minute walk to the beach and yet close enough to hear the waves come ashore all night. Two pools were available if you like to avoid the sand. They offer fishing trips or boating to other beaches in the area. We caught Tuna and observed hundreds of sea turtles and dolphins while on the boat.
The downtown areas of Zihuatanejo is just a 3 dollar taxi ride away and has all the shopping and places to eat you could want. Travel from the airport to the Condo is probably a 15 minute ride.
Yes -- we felt safe while in Mexico, far safer than I feel when in Washington DC, sad as that is to say.
This probably isn't what the party college crowd might be looking for, but if you want a beautiful setting, quality living, great weather, beautiful beaches -- you can't go wrong with this place. Oh -- the weather, averaged 88 degree's as the high and low of 72 every day that we were there. Not much humidity, so the living for an old guy like me was great.
Mike and Dee Bulkley deserve great credit for what they are doing with the "Marlin House"... ask them about the nickname for the place and how that came about...
Enough -- certainly get my recommendation and I'll be back. -

Left on 04/07/2011 for a stay in March 2011
Our experience at the Marlin House with Dee and Mike was incredible. I had no idea that the two of them would be so present and attentive! They had no problem if we wanted to stop by to ask them any question about the town, about restaurants, transportation, local events. We were treated like family the whole time.
The condo unit is absolutely stunning. Gorgeous sunlight streaming through the open air living room and bedrooms. Beautifully designed bathrooms and completely stocked kitchen, though I suggest eating out for every meal!
The prices in Zihuatanejo are so affordable you may want to pinch yourself. $3 cab rides, $2 beers and $10-$15 entrees at almost every restaurant. This little town is not at all touristy and that's what makes it so special. There is not a hotel in sight. And be prepared to bring along your Spanish/English dictionary if you really want to enjoy conversing with the locals!
We spent the first two nights at the Food and Wine Festival in Ixtapa (which should be returning again next year) and then the rest of trip relaxing on the beach or checking out the downtown shops. Make sure to book your trip on the Huntress with Francisco as your guide. We whale watched, had dolphins follow alongside our boat, caught 7 Spanish Mackerel and then spent the afternoon on Ixtapa beach where they cooked our catch for us while we waited.
If you're looking for a vacation that is relaxing and far from touristy, look no further! -

The infiniti pools at the complex were lovely and we spent a lot of time in them. The beach is very nice and you can go for a long walk along all the little restaurants there. The only thing you need to remember is the climb back up to the condo from the beach which is a biggy. So if you are having knee problems or so would not be the greatest place. We sure got a workout everyday and came back with strong legs.Again thanks Dee and Mike for enjoying your lovely place. -

We highly recommend the "Marlin House". The layout, decor and all the amendities, with meticulous attention to detail, made our stay so very comfortable and pleasurable for our whole family. There were bonuses too. The view was spectular, the local music ready to play to add to the amiance, fresh flowers in almost every room and essentials ready for us in the fridge, made us feel most privileged! Another bonus was that we were able to book a fishing charter at the same time as booking the Marlin House. Our 13yr old son, will never forget the highlight of his trip, catching 5 sailfish on the Huntress~! An overall excellent experience for all of us.

We were fortunate enough to find The Marlin House after an extensive search of places to stay and right from the start I had a good feeling about it. Dee who owns the Marlin House with her husband Mike was delightful on the phone and offered to pick us up from the airport.
She immediately made us feel like family yet offered us an extremely private and secluded setting. It was like having the B & B host of your dreams while staying in an exquisite & serene vacation rental. We had less time to stay than we would have liked but thanks to Dee we extracted absolutely the most out of every day we were in Zihuatanejo.
She pointed us in the direction of all the best restaurants, sites and activities, by far the best of which was a trip out on The Huntress (her boat) where we caught 10 fish. Francisco the captain was the ultimate fishing guide and a great friend to spend the day with.
Dee & Mike offer you the best way to visit Mexico and we cannot recommend The Marlin House enough.
We are already planning on coming back in the spring only this time we want to stay 2 weeks! Hopefully they have some vacancy...

This was just paradise. There was nothing to do but relax. Dee and Mike make this an experience that leaves you feeling so secure, safe and informed. Having Mike pick us up at the airport totally took away any fear of traveling in Mexico. As soon as we arrived Dee is there to greet us as if long lost friends. They take time and explain the area, where to go for groceries, how to get to the beach, the local areas to eat on the beach, how to get into town, the grocery store, how to exchange your $ to pesos, what to pay the cabs.
They help you get set up on the internet if you need, explain how to work the tv. After they leave you then have time to look around the condo and see the beautiful fresh flowers throughout, the decorations that are exquisite and all the comforts of a 5 star hotel. We have traveled all over the world and found this to be one of our favorite properties. We only wish Dee and Mike had condos around the world! -

The view from the living room and bedroom is unbelievable. The location is central to everything & perfect. You're close to the beaches, the restaurants and downtown (within walking distance of a lot of things). The owners gave us some great suggestions on activities that we could do while we were there, which was great. We had done very little planning on our itinerary prior to the trip & due to their helpful suggestions, we were able to see a great deal of Zihua and get a great flavor of the local area. The condo is very clean and very well stocked with towels, dishes, a water filter, and anything else you may need for your stay. The views from the front bedroom and living room are unbeatable! Mike and Dee are the best host and hostess. They are a wealth of information when it comes to where to eat and shop and what attractions you shouldn't miss during your stay. My husband even had to go to the dentist during our last visit, and the dentist that they recommended was wonderful! Also, the two infinity pools at the condo are great, especially after a hot day on the boat or at the beach. Zihuatanejo is definitely a place we will continue to visit in the future. It is a very safe and clean little town with good shopping and some great places to eat. I felt totally comfortable with taking a taxi or the bus downtown and walking around. I think next time we may even stay longer, there is still so much to see!

The pools were incredible and we took full advantage of them every afternoon following our full days of shopping, fishing with Capt.Francesco, swimming and snorkeling at the local beaches,or just walking and enjoying the sights of Zihuatanejo. We ate at a different restaurant each evening and could not decide which was best!! We are already discussing next year's visit and can't wait to see what other experiences await us.

We were pleasantly surprised to find that The Marlin House looks just like
the pictures we found on the internet. The home is tastefully decorated and
the panoramic views from both the family room and master bedroom are
breath taking. The owners went out of their way to make us feel at home
and ensure our stay was comfortable. They provided many little extras such
as dvds, books, games... and a lovely outline of restaurants and activities in
the area. The unit also provides a washer and dryer. You don't need to
pack much, we over packed thinking the evenings would get cool. All you
need is a few shorts/skirts, cool tops and your bathing suit! Another plus is
that the owners are on sight and therefore are available to answer any
questions you might have. The location is fabulous, just a short walk to La
Ropa Beach and many great restaurants. A short cab ride gets you into
town. We brought our two girls, ages 9 and 10 and were a little skeptical
that this was the right vacation for them. They quickly proved us wrong.
They not only enjoyed the infinity pool but snorkeling, surfing, parasailing
and fishing on the owners boat The Huntress as well! This truly was the
family vacation we were looking for! -

WOW! We’ll be back-same time next year but longer. This was our third trip to Zihuatanejo and the Marlin House. As return clients this year we chose the fishing package that Dee and Mike offer on Mike’s super panga.”The Huntress” ” with Captain Francisco, the best skipper in Zihua
We could not be more pleased. Two offshore fishing trips plus exceptional accommodation, it exceeds the mere words of description on the website. Fishing was fantastic 5 sailfish, 3 dorado and I roosterfish. Staying at“The Marlin House” has produced a dream vacation for us each time. The accommodations exceed the website. The view, the pools, the beautifully decorated condo, all just super! We are happy to spread the word on the “perfect” Mexican vacation in Zihua at The Marlin House See you there next year…

First and foremost Captain Mike and Dee are the ultimate hosts. From the moment we arrived it felt like we were with family. Just opening the door there was a delight in itself. Fresh flowers, food in the fridge and the radio on to the local station made me feel more comfortable than being at home.
The condo itself is stunning. It had all the amenities you could ask for down to the hair dryer. The view from the living room and the master bedroom is just stunning. Overlooking the bay and the beach...what more can you ask for? It has to be the best view in Zihua. Every evening just get in the pool and watch the sunset. It is amazing.
It's only a few minute walk to the beach and a few minute ride into the heart of town. The location is perfect in that you have a beautiful view, a breeze every day, close to everything and a view that can bring tears to your eyes.
Captain Mike and Dee can point you in any direction you want to go there. To a beach, going to eat or just have some drinks, snorkeling...just ask. They'll never steer you wrong.
If you want to go fishing...you must go on the Huntress. They don't call him "Captain" Mike for nothing. We really weren't fishing...we were catching!
I can't really say enough good things about this place. It could cost ten times more and still be a bargain. -

The Marlin house is spectacular, the view of zihuatanejo bay is panoramic and perfect. What a great place to sit in the morning with some great local coffee and watch the bay come to life, no glass,no screens, no problem! The condo is perfectly decorated by Dee & Mike who are wonderful hosts who fast become friends, they pick you up at the airport and are always helpful with any other information you might need. There is plenty of room for two couples but make sure you both get a chance to stay in the master bedroom, you can lie in bed and look out over the pacific under the moonlight.
I almost forgot to mention the infinity pools, what a view.
La Ropa beach is beautiful for swimming, sailing, snorkeling or just sittiundre a palapa with a cold cervesa.
We love this place we're heading down ther again in a few weeks to see our friends Dee and Mike.
We would love to stay permanently.

My family stayed at this vacation home for a week in April 2009 and absolutely loved it. The accomdations are above and beyond with many personal touches and not to mention incredible views. I would recommend it to all who want unique and truly memorable experience.
Captain Mike and Dee are perfect hosts and went out of their way to accomodate all of our needs. Their knowlege of the town, local restaurants and things to do were extremely helpful. We also had two opportunities to go fishing on the Huntress with Captain Mike and Franseco where we were lucky enough to catch two sail fish, do a little whale watching and just enjoy the beautiful waters of Mexico.
This is one of those great rare treats that not everyone can experience in their lifetime; we are already planning our next trip.

Our stay at the Marlin House was the best vacation my wife and I have ever experienced. The location is un-beatable as is the hospitality of the owners. My wife and I have traveled to many destinations and have decided this is the last stop. We will be back for many years to come. The people in this area of Mexico could not be more accomodating and friendly. The accomodations are better than I have recieved in 5 star Hotels. I must say the whole experience has been and will continue to be Heaven on Earth!!!!!! The beaches are among the finest in the world. As for the food and local quisine. You will not get better local true Mexican food anywhere but here. The fishing here is amongst the best I have found anywhere. As an avid fisherman I must suggest you go fishing with Captain Francisco and have the experience of a life time. Not only will you catch fish, but he will make sure you have fun doing it.

Immaculate and beautiful. Dee has thought of everything!! Tastefully decorated yet informal, you feel as if you are living outside with the huge open windows in the living room and master bedroom. Ceiling fans and air-conditioning keep it comfortable when it is hot, the back windows can be opened to keep a fresh sea breeze moving through. It is away from the traffic and noise of La Ropa and has a fantastic view of the bay.
Every morning we would walk down to La Ropa beach, walk along the waves at sunrise, then return to the infinity pool for a refreshing swim.
The fully equipped kitchen made it possible to create gourmet meals with everything avaiable.
Purified water on tap, full size refrigerator and freezer, electric stove and oven.
Be sure to take advantage of a fishing trip on Huntress, Francisco and Mike provide everything to make for an enjoyable experience. With one of the best catch and release records for sailfish and marlin as well as mahi-mahi in Zihuatanejo, you are guaranteed a good time in beautiful surroundings.
The 24 hour security is available and friendly, and will help with any problems you have. It is close to town, a 20 peso taxi or 5 peso bus will get you downtown in 5 minutes.
Dee has provided a booklet with answers to most any question you might have about services and getting around. Plus satellite TV and wireless internet. Instead of a minimum stay, they may have to condider a maximum stay.
