      Perfect Zihua

Left on 04/10/2013 for a stay in March 2013

We have visited many places in Mexico, and this is definitely our favorite. We have been to the villa twice with friends and hope to go again. The villa has beautiful grounds, comfortable accomodations, a wonderful patio/sitting area, an infinity pool, and gorgeous views and sunsets. This is a wonderful place with a great staff. Flaco is always helpful and accomodating, and Mirella prepares the best Mexican food we have ever eaten. Comfortable, charming, quaint, relaxing. Great Vacation.

      Amazing house - perfect location

Left on 03/28/2013 for a stay in February 2013

My friends and I had a wonderful time at the Casa Platero. We rented the lower floor--recommended for it's direct access to the patio and the pool. The house was exactly what we were looking for: unique, beautiful, comfortable, and impossibly well located. The grounds keeper and his family were very helpful and took good care of us during our stay. We would not have changed a thing. Some time in the future I hope to return to the Casa Platero with a whole bevy of friends in tow, hopefully for a much longer stay.

      Absolutely Wonderful!

Left on 03/23/2013 for a stay in December 2012

As soon as we arrived, we wished we had booked a longer stay. The incredible view of the bay, the ocean breeze and sound of the surf together with the comfort and coziness of the house had the effect of instantially putting us in vacation mode - something that usually takes at least a few days. The location is ideal: practically on the beach but still secluded and private. Easy access to the town. The staff and service were about all you could ask for: present and helpful when needed but without being obtrusive. Very easy to access the many charming attractions of the area or just hibernate and luxuriate.

What do you get when you combine 6 women, the beautiful setting of Playa La Ropa and the wonderful accommodations at Casa de Platero? One of the best vacations I have ever been on! The house was a perfect landing spot for our busy days that included visiting several surrounding beaches, checking out the local shopping and dining, long beach strolls, snorkeling, yoga, massages and swimming in the bay. Our hosts Laco and Marella were the best and so hospitable. The meals were amazing that were prepared for us by Marella. The new addition of the Infinity pool was a refreshing benefit that we all enjoyed daily. We will be back again.

More beautiful and relaxing than we could have imagined

Left on 02/02/2013 for a stay in January 2013

Zihuatanejo is our all-time favorite vacation spot. We've been going for 14 years and always experience true "unplugging" from any cares. This was our first time at Casa del Platero and we couldn't have been spoiled like this...even at The Viceroy!!! We chose to stay at a house for this trip because we brought our teenagers. The Casa is spacious and authentically decorated with plenty of indoor and outdoor space for all 4 of us. The view is absolutely amazing at any time of the day or night but especially for taking in the spectacular Z sunsets! Laco and Mirella truly spoiled us. From breakfasts each morning to guacamole and pico in the afternoon, and cooking our fresh fish caught that day. Yum!!! Mirella made sure we we ate like royalty! Laco was very helpful in providing contacts for fishing and zip lining as well as making sure that the beautiful plunge pool was always ready for us. The kids went parasailing, saw baby turtles hatching on the beach, played in the surf, and enjoyed the local scene in town. We were all sad to leave this paradise!!!

Left on 01/10/2013 for a stay in December 2012

My family and I had a wonderful vacation in Zihua this winter. We found the house and the service provided to be better than expected. We have rented houses elsewhere in Mexico and found Casa Platero to be the best yet. The location across from the beach and adjacent to many fun places made this house perfect

Authentic Mexican vacation in a beautiful, safe and spacious Cas

Left on 12/16/2012 for a stay in November 2012

If you are looking for a non resort vacation with all the comforts of a resort this is it! A beautiful, authentic, safe (gated) and comfortable, original Mexican Casa is the perfect way to vacation in Zihuatanejo. A refreshing change from a typical Mexican vacation. The panoramic view is stunning...you never tire of the ever changing views. Laco and Morella are the couple that come with the house who live in a separate home on the property and they couldn't be more helpful and accomodating. Morella prepares a fabulous Mexican breakfast every morning including fresh squeezed orange juice and delicious salsas etc. They truly do their best to satisfy your every need and request. The beach is a few steps away where you have miles of gorgeous sandy beach that takes you into town...with convenient stops for cervezas and margaritas on the way:) We certainly didn't miss the "having to get up at 6:00 a.m. to put a towel on the beach chair". Awesome vacation all around with less commercialism and a genuine Mexican experience. The location of the home is perfect - slightly on the edge of the beach offering privacy and quaintness. The infinity pool is fantastic; a lovely spot to relax and enjoy the view while soaking up the sun or jumping in the pool to cool off. We really enjoyed this unique and special home which offers the perfect combination of comfort and Mexican charm. Ola!!

Left on 12/05/2012 for a stay in February 2012

Having traveled extensively thru Mexico and visited many beaches, this is by far tops for us. The villa is beautiful, and has the warmth and beauty of real Mexico. It has a wonderful patio/sitting area, with gorgeous views. Can't say enough about what a wonderful place this is - and staff just puts it over the top! We have stayed multiple times, with other couples and with our entire family (kids ages 6 to 16) - our 11 yr old said we need to go there at least twice a year - if only we could. Have reservations for this winter again (our 3rd time), and can't wait.

      An idyllic visit to Zihuatanejo

Left on 12/03/2012 for a stay in October 2012

A few weeks ago, my wife and I slipped into Zihuatanejo for 6 days of relaxation and sunshine following a conference in marvelous Mexico City. The time spent at Dave and Melissa Hampton's hideaway in Zihua, Casa del Platero, turned out to be equally marvelous. This lovely home at the end of a long curved sandy beach (Playa La Ropa) is well above water's edge but perfectly positioned to let you sit by poolside and watch the sun fall beyond the horizon as the lights in the hills across the bay replace it with a white-light Christmas tree effect. As nightfall sends you to an elegantly furnished and expansive suite, the roll of the waves will put you right to sleep. In the morning, Lako and Maria (the house attendants) serve hot fresh coffee and a colorful and nutritious breakfast. If desired, you can ask Maria to shop and cook for dinner as an alternative to eating out in any number of nearby and excellent restaurants. For us, she recommended a lobster and sea bass combination under an open-air palm-tree surrounded table that proved nothing short of superb. You will need to drop into the excellent wine shop in the heart of Zihua during the day to accompany the meal, however, as the house does not have a wine cellar.

      A tropical paradise

Left on 06/24/2012 for a stay in April 2010

Everything about this place is fantastic. The house itself is perfectly set up to accommodate more than one group, with a separate apartment and also a small outbuilding. There are several gathering spaces, both indoors and out, and also plenty of places to be private and quiet. The pool is gorgeous, worth swimming in even with the bay just steps away. The staff at the house is very efficient and friendly, and make great food -- and although their English is nearly as limited as my Spanish we had no trouble at all communicating. The situation of the house is just amazing -- overlooking the Zihua bay, with great sunset views -- and the proximity to the beach is just superb. Go to paradise for a week or two, you won't regret it!

      A beautiful honeymoon in Mexico

Left on 05/30/2012 for a stay in October 2009

We couldn't have asked for a more romantic honeymoon! Casa del Platero is even more beautiful than the photos - you just have to see it in person. The views are spectacular. Waking up to the wide panoramic view of the bay was incredible. The place has a secluded feel, very quiet and private, perfect for a romantic tropical getaway. But it's also very close to restaurants, shops and other attractions. Our stay here was so much more unique and memorable than a resort.

We absolutely loved Zihuatanejo. In addition to the gorgeous beach, we enjoyed the excellent seafood, the unique shopping, snorkeling, fishing and just enjoying nature. We loved walking down to the beach in the morning and having lunch at the beachside restaurants.

Casa del Platero was what really made it a perfect honeymoon for us. After the stress of a wedding, we loved having such a beautiful, quiet place to relax together. It was unforgettable!

      Imagine this

Left on 05/08/2012 for a stay in February 2010

      Imagine this:

You are sitting on a covered patio at your private house on a cliff over the beach, looking over a small infinity pool onto an ever-changing lovely small bay on Mexico's west coast. You've just had a breakfast of tea or excellent coffee, a plate of various fresh fruit, fresh squeezed orange juice, yogurt, and eggs, (or huevos ranchero if you wish) prepared by the couple who are the full-time staff, who live on the property in a small cottage. Facing you is a choice of sunbathing around the pool in an ocean breeze, reading under the roofed patio, or a trip into the lovely town and fishing village. Another choice: lunch at home or at one of the excellent restaurants? Then afternoon nap, checking out the bay, and a decision: home or out to dinner at one of the top-notch restaurants within an easy taxi ride? If dinner at home, again prepared for you, it can be preceded by a walk down the driveway to thatched roof La Gravioto (The Seagull), steps from the driveway, for a Marguerita while watching the sun set over the Pacific in a display seldom seen, never the same twice. Or stay home for drinks and another dinner. Local fish and bananas flambé, perhaps? Thus goes your time at this restful spot; Mexico at it's best.

The house sits on a low cliff about 50 feet above the beach. Views from either floor are terrific. The village has an interesting history, as does the comfortable walled house with a courtyard. Zihuatanejo is easily reached by air from the us, and the house easily reached by taxi from the airport. Go for it! I envy the experience.

      Magical vacation!

Left on 05/07/2012 for a stay in June 2011

My husband and our 9 year-old daughter stayed for a week. Lovely home with great Mexican style. Away from tourists but close to everything. There are so many special features and details in this home - we loved the Mexican tile work throughout, and the incredible garden; little details that you don't pick up in the pictures. The home is very spacious - lots of room inside and out. My husband's favorite spot was reading a book under the covered area by the pool. Our daughter's favorite spot was the "al fresco" sleeping area and my favorite was the dining room - roofed but open air with a fantastic view of the bay. The kitchen is well equipped and everything in working order. Having breakfast overlooking the bay was so relaxing! We felt like royalty. We were very happy to learn how easy it was to get around - either walking to nearby beaches (there are a couple to choose from); or taking the bus (cheap, easy and fast) to get into town. We felt very safe wherever we went. The house is situated at the end of Playa La Ropa which is a great location - far enough away to feel secluded but close enough to walk to some fantastic restaurants. Our daughter loved, loved, loved the pool! Endless fun for her (and us). I highly recommend this property for families. The support staff in Mexico was helpful and knowledgable. The owners were super easy to work with and everything for arrival and departure went very smoothly. We couldn't have asked for a better vacation.

Left on 04/30/2012 for a stay in November 2011

The casa del platero is so charming and in such a great location, we feel we found our home away from home. After traveling to zihua for more than ten years, and the loss of our beloved hotel sotavento, we had been searching for a new place to stay. Additionally we had a child, so we were looking for a place with more space. Casa del Platero was perfect; child friendly, plenty of space, and that fabulous view from the pool patio! The caretakers that live on the property were extremly welcoming, helpful and friendly. We look forward to out next visit!

      A week in paradise

Left on 04/28/2012 for a stay in March 2006

The entire experience was wonderful: A beautiful and picturesque hacienda on a gorgeous white sand beach with a panoramic view of the quaint and fun town of Zihuatanejo (the hacienda's location is absolutely perfect, affording both maximum access and privacy), delectible meals of the unique local cuisine, an Indian market where you can spend hours shopping, numerous fine dining spots, some open air on the beach itself, the town easily reached by a stroll down the beach (or, if you are really feeling lazy, by prompt and inexpensive taxi), boating, swimming in the pristine Bay or in the Pacific, snorkling in water so clear it is amazing, para sailing over the water, massage (on the beach if you can believe it),many other activities too numerous to list, plus a significant american community (complete with their own special bar). Zihua is a secret few tourists have discovered. And now the hacienda has a swimming pool that seems to flow into the Bay. This is truly a tropical paradise but with all the comforts of home and more.

My fiance and I wanted to get married in a memorable location, and this was perfect! We did not have to worry about arranging a thing, even though the judge got lost en route to the ceremony. Our meals were delicious, the amenities were remarkable, and the staff was so friendly that we had our final dinner together as a family. The language barrier did not stop us! The location is excellent if you are looking for beach front property. It is a five minute (.05$) bus ride to the center of town where vendors and local food await. My husband and I cannot wait to take our children back to the place where mommy and daddy exchanged their vows. I highly recomend this villa to couples and families as there is plenty of room!
