“We had a great vacation experience at Cliffside..” We had a marvelous time during our stay at Cliffside and thoroughly enjoyed our trip and the use of this beautiful home with our friends. It was a great location-close to the park and town, but nestled amongst the trees for relaxing privacy. We saw deer behind the house several mornings and took some great pictures of a hawk perched in the tree just beyond our deck. The trails behind the house and Sand Point Road were convenient for morning hiking and jogging. Several mornings we enjoyed our coffee on the decks with their peaceful views of the bay. This lovely home provided a great base for visiting Bar Harbor and acadia- whale watching, visits to Cadillac Mountain, Sand Beach, Thunder Hole, and the Thuya Gardens. We hiked around Jordan Pond and enjoyed the tea and popovers, visited Schoodic Peninsula, and took a carriage tour of the bridges. We really appreciated Bonnie's suggestions for dining and activities to enjoy, and everything went very smoothly from beginning to end. The weather was great and we had a wonderful time.

Harbor Breeze B - nicely-renovated upstairs apartment in Bar Harbor

Bar Harbor apartment

  • 2 bedrooms

“Light blue stay in Harbor Breeze B” We stayed one week in Harbor Breeze B in June 2013. Wonderful spacious appartment with everything you need. The only disadvantage could be the rather steep staircase which leads to appartment B. A short walk brings you to the center of Bar Harbor where you find restaurants and shops of all kind. People of acadia Cottage Rentals were helpfull at any time. So we can recommend the cottage in any way. Barbar and Heiner, Berlin, Germany

“Loved the rental, not the parking” We wanted to be downtown as it is always more difficult to find parking for dinner and shopping. The house is on a quiet street convenient to town and the bar for launching our kayak. Our one concern was that there was not enough off street parking for our vehicle and a vehicle for the upstairs rental without blocking someone in. We were lucky being there in September and no one rented the upstairs. Even in September, we never saw parking on the street that was available should someone be upstairs. We loved the rental, but just got lucky on the parking.

“perfect place to stay...our 2nd time staying here” We stayed in this cottage (home) in 2011 and did a repeat in 2013; a great place to stay; our group was only two couples so a 4 BR home sounds like a lot; house layout is good and location would be impossible to beat; one block off Main Street in Bar Harbor; so easy walk to breakfast at a restaurant in town called Cafe This Way, day of walking/hiking in acadia, and home for shower and wine/cheese, and walk to dinner in town at many fine restaurants;

Meadow & Mountain View - amazing views & privacy, walk to Bar Harbor

Bar Harbor farmhouse

  • 3 bedrooms
  • 2 bathrooms
  • sleeps 6

“Perfect location” This older farmhouse has a perfect location. Only a mile from town and there is a trail that crosses at end of driveway for easy access hiking. Park loop road is right around the corner. The best part is when you are there it is completely private in the middle of a quiet meadow. The house itself is older but clean and all amenities are there for you. Would definitely recommend it.

“We had a moose in our front yard!!” We had a wonderful stay at Cole Cottage...topped off by coming home to a very large moose in our front yard that trotted in front of our truck...that was absolutely amazing, still talking about that big boy!! The house is very conveniently located, easy driving to different locations, easy access to acadia Park. The staff at acadia Cotage Rentals couldn't have been more friendly or helpful...my husband left a pillow behind that he uses for back pain. I contacted acadia Cottage Rentals and we had the pillow back within 3 days!! house is situated on lovely Frenchman's Bay, with breathtaking sunsets and sunrises...wonderful beach with a sandbar far into the water, amazing rocks to climb and explore. The house is a little dated, needs some updating...I would strongly suggest redesigning the stairs to the basement, they are a little treacherous! Might also consider turning the 2 basement bedrooms into one big bedroom, and elevate the ceilings so they would be more usable. Other than that, we had an amazing time and loved our trip. Would definitely come back.

“Great location!” We loved staying in this cottage. Our only complaint would be having no real place to relax in the evenings inside. The TV couch area was hard to relax in with four people. If the owners bought a little more comfortable furniture for that cozy area it would be a five star cottage.

“Privacy and location cannot be beat!” Great home - spread out and quite large - almost too large for the 6 of us! Access to the bay was amazing, easy 5-10 minutes into town and to acadia National park, quiet road; very private location. Pet friendly and cozy enough for movies on the couch for those dastardly rainy days.

Cow Palace - ocean-front family gathering place near Acadia National Park & Bar
Great residence, unbelievable coastal frontage, but

I have been to Maine during the summer 3 times. Twice I have stayed at the Cow Palace. The people are good, the location amazing and the house and grounds very, very nice. The residence is large and well stocked with almost anything you might need during your visit. My only problem is one which is common in Northern environments, that is there is no air conditioning. The first time we stayed at the Cow Palace, the weather was great and the heat was not a problem. This last visit however, the heat was abnormal and certain days were miserable within the house. It was almost impossible to take a nap during the day, and despite having the windows open, you sweated during the night, which made sleeping more difficult. My 70 year old mother in law was miserable almost the entire trip. As I said this is not a problem exclusive to the Cow Palace, most residences do not have air conditioning. My first vacationing visit to main was to the Portland area and there was an extraordinary heat wave. We stayed in a hotel, which had no air conditioning, and were miserable. This from someone who lives in central Florida and camps throughout the year. As you can see I still give the Cow Palace 5 stars. If the fluctuating patterns of heat in the North can be an issue for you. I would look into a house with air-conditioning. Since I have been told that excessive heat is rarely a problem, it may be something you do not need to be concerned. I love the house, the family, the location and the amazing outdoor recreation and site seeing opportunities in the area. The only reason I give it a 4 for comfort is again the heat issue.see more

Bagatelle Guest Cottage - waterfront in Bar Harbor
Cozy Cottage

My wife and I have traveled to acadia many times over the years, staying in hotels, other cottages, B&B;'s, etc. Our stay at Bagatelle Guest Cottage was by far our most enjoyable stay we've ever had. Checking in was a breeze, there were no surprises awaiting us in the cottages and it was spotless. The location was ideal for us, an easy walk to downtown Bar Harbor and an awesome view of the water and Bar Island. The main house was unoccupied most of the week so we had a very quiet and exclusive estate to enjoy by ourselves. I'll return to Bagatelle Guest Cottage on my next trip to acadis, that's for sure.see more
Cliffside at Sandcliff by the Sea
What gem we found!

My wife and I took our two adult daughters and their husband and boyfriend to Bar Harbor ME. Cliff side at Sandcliff by the Sea was the perfect place! The house is beautiful and spacious. We used the gas grill several times and enjoyed the gas fireplace on the deck tremendously. The location is excellent...close enough to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. We used the bus systems to explore the park. My youngest daughter and her boyfriend hiked over thirty miles of Acadia. The owner was fantastic to work with. We had a slight problem the first night but Bonnie took care of it immediately. I highly recommend this home. We gathered wild blueberries just behind the home and used them in our breakfast. Our favorite places to eat....popovers at Jordan's Pond, lobster rolls at the Side Street Cafe, BBQ at Mainely Meats with Atlantic Brewery tour, lobster dinner at Gaylin's. Beer at the Beerworks and karaoke. And of course warm blueberry pie ala mode and blueberry twist soft serve at C J's. The light house boat tour is well worth the time and money. We highly recommend this as your vacation destinationsee more
