About China

The People’s Republic of China, located in East Asia is full of equal parts mystery and beauty. The third largest country in the world, China has a variety of terrain, climates, resources, plants, and animals. The history of China is long and storied, and serves as one of its main draws for tourism. The Chinese have a rich culture of philosophy and the arts. The “four great inventions” of China are paper, gunpowder, printing, and the compass - pretty influential, right? Let’s not forget about Chinese cuisine, which is enjoyed all around the world. There are 1.3 BILLION (with a B) people living in China currently, with most speaking the official language of Mandarin. They also have the fastest growing economy in the world.

Hong Kong: You must see Victoria Peak and Man Mo Temple when you visit, the highest point in Hong Kong and one of its oldest temples, respectively. Tian Tan Buddha is another landmark on top of a hill to see, while the Temple Street Night Market is buzzing as the lights go down. It is a multi-cultural area that blends Chinese, English, and other traditions into one city.

Beijing: The capital of China, Beijing, introduced itself on a global level during the 2008 Summer Olympics. It is one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China, offering China's most wonderful array of attractions. No other city in the nation attracts more travelers. Enjoy a Peking Opera when you’re in the area, and try the Roast Duck, the best known dish. Relax at a tea house if you can. The real reason you’re probably in Beijing is to see The Great Wall of China. Explore on your own or take a tour if you can, that way you can truly appreciate one of the Wonders of the World. Stop by the Forbidden City or Tiananmen Square to see more living history.

Shanghai: One of the largest economic centers in Asia, Shanghai (“Hu” for short) continues to grow on a yearly basis. It is also one of the largest seaports (and was one of the first to be open to Western trade) and has many industrial projects ongoing too. Located on an estuary in the Yangtze River, Shanghai is a molding of the old and the new, the western and the eastern. Be sure to visit the Shanghai Museum for a collection of historic artifacts that rival any museum in China. Be sure to rent a bicycle during your stay so you can get around like the locals do and avoid the traffic and subways.

If you’re head to China, consider staying in a vacation rental instead of a traditional hotel. Narrow down your choices using filters on FlipKey to find the perfect rental home for you. With all the space, privacy, and amenities of home - you’ll feel extremely at peace and will be able to explore the area like a local would. There are villas, apartments, condos, and entire homes ready for you, your family, or your large group to stay in China.

Penthouse stunning Mt. view great location 4br
Brilliant

We had a delightful stay in the Penthouse. Having researched all possible places to stay in Guilin for Chinese new year, we decided to go for this penthouse. We were pleasantly surprized, it was spacious and comfortable, my children were delighted to have their own bedrooms! This penthouse would be spacious enough for 2 families. Mr Song's breakfast filled us up every morning, set us up for the action packed day Daisy had organised for us. I found it very helpful that Daisy was a tour guide, I told her the kind of things we wanted to see and do, she compiled a schedule for us and organised everything from the transport to the tickets. All events were flexible and we could add on more sightseeing if necessary. On our days off, Daisy advised us on local areas we could visit and what buses to catch or we could just chill out in the penthouse. I would really recommend this penthouse for your stay in Guilin, especially if you the adventurous type of person, we found Daisy and her family very helpful and the local Guilin people were delightful too. The local restaurants were all a pleasant experience and the food was extremely tasty, by the end of the holiday we all had our favourite restaurant, even our children's taste buds were awoken!! We currently live in Shanghai having moved from the Uk, I felt we experience the culture in more depth in Guilin and I would certainly recommend you get out and visit as many sights as you can as they all have a story to tell.see more

Fantastic home away from home

This sixth floor apt. was all and more we had hoped it would be. Safe, secure building, a family oriented property and a wonderful area to explore. Comfortable, clean, modern two bedroom apt, which can comfortably sleep four - more if needed, especially if traveling with young children. The windows look out onto a beautifully maintained courtyard, making the living space and large bedroom very bright and sunny. The windows open! and there are curtains which block out any unwanted light - day or night. Everything from laundry soap to tea bags fill the shevles, plenty of towels, bedding and cookware. The location is excellent! two fresh vegetable markets steps away, several convenient stores, and many restaurants in this friendly area, we truly felt like part of the neighborhood. Taxies are frequently, if not always available in front of the building or on the street. Two major roads are only blocks away - another excellent location to grab a taxi or bus. Only a 15-20 minute walk to the subway station, pearl market, many shops and street markets. First time travelers to China from the United States, our three week stay was indeed more delightful and unique having stayed here. Jason and his family are very kind and helpful in every way. You won't be disappointed.see more
3 Bedroom hidden gem over hideaway beach
Lovely, quiet location with comfortable rooms and beautiful view

My two children and I stayed in this wonderful apartment when we visited friends in March 2014. It is in Discovery Bay, which is a quiet, family friendly part of Lantau Island. We were able to walk to the central plaza where we could eat, shop and catch the ferry to Hong Kong Island. It was a nice antidote to the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong and Kowloon. The bedrooms were comfortable. I loved having a washing machine and dryer as well as dishwasher. Upon check-in, we found a selection of jams and bread as well as fruit and coffee. It was a great experience.see more
LaoJia, a Qing Dynasty House (1)
The real China ...

LaoJia is a fabulous getaway from the hussle and bussle of travel in China. A great place to unwind... My family of 5 (mum, sisters and 11 year old daughter) stayed with Eric and Maarten for 3 days during the Public Holiday period. We had been travelling in China for 2 weeks prior. A lovely (and safe) lady driver transported us from Guilin to Yangdi village, where we were further transported to Langshi Village on a raft boat. The scenery was breathtaking (and we would have saved ourselves many RMB the day before on a tour which took us to nearly the same spot, save yourself the money and do this instead). LaoJia is tranquil and a step back in time. Eric and Maarten have done a terrific job in bringing a unique experience to foreigners ie: a taste of the real China. We were fortunate that a funeral ceremony/celebration was taking place in the village during our stay and we were able to experience first hand how a village celebrates life as a community. Apart from this we also headed for the mountains to watch a goat herder round up his herd of goats, went in search of bats in a nearby cave and accompanied a local farmer as she attended her orange grove. There is as little or as much as you want to do here. I highly recommend this experience.see more

China Business

Enjoyed my stay at east apartments. It was a delightful alternative to staying in a hotel. The location was ideal and close to everything I required for business as well as socializing. My apartment was as described and was not in need of anything. The on site manager, I think his name is Sev was attentive and helped with everything I required. I will definatley plan on staying here again as I visit Beijing approx 2x a year.see more

Great Experience

Location was a little far, but it was made up with a comfortable room and a very helpful host. About a 10 minute walk from the metro, so everything is pretty accessable. Definitely would visit here again! … see more
