About Kerala

Kerala is located on the south west coast of India and is otherwise known as 'God's Own Country'. It features 600km of glorious Arabian shoreline, and is renowned for its sandy beaches and towering palm trees. If you're looking for a vacation rental while you're in Kerala, search FlipKey today.

About Kerala

Kerala has a long history which is mainly centred around the spice industry. Many travelers from all over the world visit the resort to trade or try out the colorful dishes, which are embellished with local spices. The booming tourist industry has also brought a great deal of trade to the destination in recent years.

Kerala is also home to a whole host of wild animals including elephants, exotic birds and even tigers. Explore the area with a guide! It'll be sure to make your visit a memorable one if you've always wanted to see exotic wildlife up close.

On your trip, you'll be sure to come across a festival or two as the resort is known for its large association with the arts. Held on specific days of the year between December and February, the most celebrated include the Thrissur Pooram, Makaravilakku and Utsavam.

What to do

If you've always wanted to spot wildlife in their natural habitat, it’s worth visiting Wayanad Animal Sanctuary. You'll travel through the park in a two-hour jeep ride, with the accompaniment of a local guide who'll give you all the information you need.

The Pardesi synagogue built in 1568, will amaze you, with its exquisite hand painted floor tiles and illuminated chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. Be aware to cover up your arms and legs out of respect, or unfortunately you won't make it past the entrance! Bags and camera also aren't permitted.

Fort Cochin, located in the city of Kochi is where visitors can get a taste of local life. The region can be explored entirely on foot, and the harbor is one of the most popular sights of this region. Fishermen pulling in the day's catch can be witnessed and later purchased from the nearby stalls. Delicious!

Top Kerala travel tips

Before travelling to India, you'll need to have the necessary vaccinations approximately 6-8 weeks before your trip. All overseas travelers will also need a Visa to enter the country.

Kerala's main airports include Trivandrum, Kochi and Kozhikode, and you can get around the resort easily with a wide variety of transport links. Options include train transfers, most commonly across the west, and a whole range of long distance bus transfers can be caught to transport you to your ideal location.

Between April-August is Kerala's dry period and temperatures may soar into the high 30s.

Kerala is definitely a resort for those hoping to explore the culture the resort has to offer, not forgetting the glorious natural surroundings of beaches and exotic wildlife. If you're now convinced to travel to this serene resort, browse FlipKey to find your Kerala vacation rental.

ZENHA RESORTS
:)

Carpe Diem was better than expected for most of the things. The cottage is tastefully designed & decorated, more than sufficiently spacious, equipped with a kitchen. A large balcony (+ a rooftop seating area) boast a wide panoramic view of the beautiful hills topped with clouds. Perhaps this is the best thing about staying in this cottage. Mr. Prakash, the manager and the cab driver (Mr. Ablish, who also doubled as a guide) were friendly and helpful people. The cottage is located far from the main city which makes it a peaceful habitat. However, if you are a foodie and looking for variety, you'd need to travel to the main city (there is a decent restaurant in the campus, though). The campus (where the cottage is located) - has a variety of flora and fauna - including tea gardens and 2 rounds of the campus would constitute a trek in itself ;) The place is not suitable for people which locomotive disabilities.see more
