“We will be back!” We so enjoyed our stay at this lakefront cabin for the last two weeks of May, and were grateful we were able to bring our fur-kid, Daisy. She enjoyed swimming, fetching, and dock diving in the lake almost as much as we enjoyed watching her! So quiet and peaceful here, with a beautiful view of the lake from the front wall of windows. Comfy furniture, well-equipped kitchen, nice large deck, easy access to town - it was all we wanted and needed for our vacation. The weather was perfect for most of our stay, which we spent out on the deck or down by the water with friends we were visiting (they live in Murphy), and we were amazed so few people were out enjoying it on a long holiday weekend - we had the lake to ourselves much of the time! Phyllis and Pete were great hosts, and made sure we had everything we needed to make our stay perfect. We will definitely stay here again during our next trip to Murphy.

“A great cabin with an awesome view.” The Above the Clouds Retreat is truly a beautiful mountain cabin experience that you want to return to again and again. We have rented many cabins in the mountains over the years and I must say, this is the one we've enjoyed the most. The screen porch with very comfortable seating overlooking an awesome view of the Smokies is perfect for total relaxation. The cabin is beautifully decorated and has all of the amenities of home. Joanie is a great gal who truly cares about her cabin and does her utmost to provide a great vacation experience for her renters. We plan on returning as soon as our schedule will permit.

“First real family vacation” The cabin is beautiful, very inviting and homely. Plenty of room for our family of 4. Had fun in the game room/basement. Close to North Carolina/Georgia border so you can visit either state. Scenery is beautiful and very quite. Even got a visit from the neighborhood dog, owner leaves dog biscuits in the cabinet for you to give him. Neighbors are friendly but don't come knocking. Just an all round great place!

“This was the nicest place we have ever rented by far!” We love the mountains and have vacationed there several times but have never been so pleasantly surprised by the rental as we were here. This cabin is absolutely the best! I was amazed at the way it was decorated. It felt like home from the minute we walked in the front door. We had the pleasure of a nice visit with the owner, who was very nice. The downstairs would be a perfect setting if you have young children. Being older, we enjoyed sitting on the porch and enjoying nature. We went to many shops In Blairsville and surrounding towns any enjoyed visiting with all the friendly folks. I can’t say enough good things about our week there! It was simply great and this cabin is the perfect place to stay. We will be staying there again as soon as possible.

“Great location!” We really enjoyed our stay! The cabin was comfortable, clean, and warm, which was great since it was New Year's Eve!! It is close to some great local hiking and shopping, like Brasstown Bald, Hiawasee, Appalachian Trail. Perfect for families with kids (young or older).

“Masterpeace Cottage” The cabin was lovely. We stayed there for four nights. Unfortunately, we had lots of rain and fog, thus impacting the excursions we wanted to take. In the brief periods of good weather, we got some lovely photos of the mountains. We do recommend the cottage itself.

About Murphy

Nestled in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina, Murphy is an excellent starting point for adventures in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The park encompasses an endless stretch of the misty mountain range that runs through the Carolinas and Tennessee, and travelers come here from all over the world every year for wildlife spotting, bird watching, rock climbing and mountain biking opportunities.

Explore beautiful overlooks and waterfall sites here like Benton Falls. Visit historic areas that document the important events of the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, and explore the museums and shopping areas around Murphy's quaint downtown.

After a day or two of exploring, play a few rounds of golf on North Carolina's pristine courses, or spend an afternoon relaxing in a luxury spa. Murphy offers plenty of fun activities for every member of the family.

Here are a few suggestions of things to do while in Murphy:

  • Hike the trails: Hike up to Clingman's Dome, the highest point in Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
  • Visit the Cherokee County History and Arts Museum: This museum is housed in the historic Central School building, built on the site of the 1812 mustering ground for the South Carolina Militia. Explore the museum's extensive exhibits of painting, sculpture, cinema and Revolutionary War history.
  • Go mountain biking: Some of the mountain biking trails in the Great Smoky Mountains are considered the most beautiful and challenging trails in the country.
  • Go horseback riding: This is a quiet and authentic way to explore the hidden trails and back roads in and around the National Park.
  • Visit Cades Cove: Settlers first acquired this land from Cherokee Native Americans in 1820. Now many of the early homes built by these pioneers have been historically preserved and remain standing.
  • Drive the Cherohala Skyway: This famous scenic byway winds through Cherokee and the Nantahala Forests, connecting the Tellico Plains to Robbinsville.

It's never difficult to find the perfect vacation rental in or around Murphy. If you schedule your trip during the winter, rent a cozy cabin in the mountains and explore the trails on snowshoes or cross county skis. If you arrive during the height of the summer, you may want to find a trendy apartment or luxury condo downtown where you can take advantage of Murphy's shopping and nightlife. No matter what you're looking for, you'll easily find a vacation home that offers everything you and your family need.

Beary Sweet Retreat
Nice cabin

We enjoyed our stay at Beary sweet. The cabin was clean and well maintained. Make sure you take note that there aren't any paper products supplied. The only complaint we had was the condition of the pans to cook with. The pans were worn and need replaced. … see more
Romantic Mountain Cabin with Pond & Gazebo - WiFi
WONDERFUL STAY!

The location was perfect. Centralized to Ocoee, Murphy, and all things nature. Lillian was very informative on what there is to do around the cabin and the cabin itself is lovely! I took my 2 year old boy and he loved the fabulous deck and of course the gazebo with the pond while watching the horses! Everything you need for cooking is there and the house is just awesome. Thank you for everything! Will return!see more

Another wonderful sisters' retreat.

Some people go to the mountains to take advantage of everything they can see, climb, taste, smell, swim in, float on, paddle through, or jump off of. My sister and I look for the perfect place to RETREAT from the world and eat all the ice cream and candy bars we want to while reading, playing board games, napping, enjoying a beautiful view, and just being visiting together, since we live in different states. (Pardon the long sentence.) The kitchen is well equipped to cook all our meals. The place we went to for several years was sold. We tried others but found nothing we wanted to return to. Until we found this one! It is clean, quiet, well-decorated, cozy, has quality bed linens and towels, and the personal touches of a home. We stayed for 7 days both years. Last year we never left the cabin! We went into town once this time. Making plans for next year.see more
