“Pet friendly and peaceful.” A delightful, cosy cottage ideal for a peaceful break. Our dogs were made to feel very welcome. Situated on a farm, there were lots of places to walk and a very good pub serving excellent food was within walking distance. The addition of coal and other fire making materials made the cottage warm and cosy once the night set in. The Dales are only a short drive away along with quaint market towns that have quirky shops and lots of cafes.

“A great place to stay for enjoying walking and scenery” Great owners - very helpful in advising places to go. The accommodation was ideal for two people and was in easy walking distance to the town of Buxton which had lovely gardens and a great choice of eating places. Plenty of good walks in the area.

“Lovely stay” Brookley Barn is a pretty cottage to enjoy your holiday. The atmosphere at the farm is very casual but not intrusive. There is always someone who wants a friendly chat or you wants to show you around the farm. Children will have a great time here. Keep in mind that Brookley Barn is on a working farm. There are cows and chickens wandering around, the pig's are nearby, there are dogs and cats who love attention. But it is a tidy farm and the animals also know their place. They will not be of any inconvenience, we have just utterly enjoyed it. The cottage itself is complete and very neat. Nearby there is plenty to do and see. Definitely recommended!

Why Derbyshire?

This huge rolling area in the East Midlands is a truly beautiful example of the English rural countryside, where you’ll find a wide variety of plant and animal life, and different terrains. It’s the perfect place for hikers and those who love to explore the great outdoors. Book a vacation rental in the Peak District, Derbyshire and start experiencing nature.

About Peak District, Derbyshire

Phenomenally picturesque, the Peak District is not named for its mountains (as it doesn't have any), but for an ancient tribe that was believed to have resided in the area.

The landscape can be considered to split into two geologically contrasting areas; there's the White Peak with its limestone dales, famed for its rare flora, including orchids and Jacob's Ladder; and the Dark Peak, where the hills are higher and there's lots of heather, bogs and moorland.

What to Do

Kids will love Gulliver's Kingdom, a charming little theme park in amazing surroundings.

Top Peak District, Derbyshire Travel Tips

Be aware of your abilities when hiking and use common sense. Don't go alone and make sure someone knows what route you're taking. Whilst there are several excellent Mountain Rescue Teams if you do get into real difficulties, try to take every measure to stay safe out there and not need them!

For an amazingly beautiful hiking vacation in a vast and picturesque region, be sure to book your next vacation rental in the Peak District, Derbyshire.

RIDGE HALL, large country mansion, expansive grounds, four poster beds
Wonderful house in a beautiful location!

Extremely comfortable and very well appointed. We booked it in order to host an extended family event over a kong weekend. It was everything one could reasonably expect from a large country house. The dining room was like something out of Downton Abbey, the lounge was large and exquisitey furnished and the bedrooms large and luxurious. Equally there was a snug room where one could escape the family mayhem Simply stated, it exceeded all expectations.see more

The Groom's Quarters, Peak District 5 * Hol cott - flexible start - short stays
Perfect home-from-home in gorgeous surroundings

We enjoyed a fabulous short break at Grooms Quarters. We were warmly welcomed by the lovely owner, Ann, given a tour of the property, presented with some homemade cake (which was delicious), and told of the back route to Alton Towers which got us there in less than 10 minutes! The cottage is located in gorgeous surroundings, and very well equipped- Ann really had thought of everything. The accommodation was extremely comfortable, and would work well for families or groups. The master bedroom is outstanding, with sunset views being the icing on the cake! The fields behind the cottage had newborn lambs, rabbits and pheasants, with cows and horses across the lane. Wonderful walking nearby. Something to please everyone here.see more
