“Full of character!!!” I stayed here along with my boyfriend for a week, we were giving a warm welcome by the owner and to my delight the fire was buring brightly as we arrived. The house was warm and cosy and very homely with comfortable beds. We enjoyed going for walks along the country roads and even came across a duck pond. The location was ideal, its only 15 minutes from letterkenny. I have already looked into booking a week next year and look forward to the warm hospitality i recieved from John and Barry.

“Fantastic accomodation and Beautiful Views” This peaceful quite location was so relaxing, serene and beautiful. The house was more than we ever expected. The decor, and fine detail to everything was like being home away from home. The house was warm, cozy, had all the ammenties we needed, and was spotlessly clean. Barry was so kind and friendly making us feel at home immediately. Any questions or concerns that we had, he was responsive immediately and catered to our every needs. We would fully recommend this vacation rental for couples and/or families. Great location, close to the town of Ramelton, plus a short drive to Letterkenny, close to all highways if you had any other sigtseeing to do in other countys. We would absolutely love to stay in the house again and would be very disappointed for our next vacation if the house was not available.

“Rossbeg-Seaside cottage” Lovely cottage, with lovely views over the bay. Plenty space for large family, lovely log burning fire, pet friendly although no fenced in garden...the road was minor but cars did go fast past the property, small children and pets would have to be supervised at all times while outside...our only negative! The owners were next door, were very helpful and friendly and happy to assist with any questions etc. Beautiful area of Ireland, well worth visit!

“Idyllic rural setting” Wonderful cottage in the rugged Donegal landscape with a great view out the front. You really do get away from it all here but still have all the modern conveniences and best of all, a log fire in the sitting room for those cold nights! Don't worry if you've forgotten something - the cottage is well stocked and has lots of games to while away the hours when you aren't out exploring the surrounding countryside (including some amazing beaches) and the nearby villages. We'll definitely be back some day!

About County Donegal

County Donegal lies in the far north-west corner of Ireland bordering the Atlantic Ocean. It is noted for the beauty of its rugged coastline (the highest sea cliffs in Europe, in fact), ancient castles, small seaside summer vacation towns, and heather-covered moors. If you're looking for Irish culture and a whole lot of attitude - come to County Donegal. It preserves the folklore and customs of traditional Ireland and has inspired poets, musicians and authors through its incredible landscape. You'll receive all types of weather here - from brutal rains and snows to beautiful sunny days to enjoy on the sweeping beaches. The interior of the county finds remote mountains and placid lakes. Easy access to other Irish hot spots like Derry, Galway, and Dublin via car or rail is a major bonus.

Things to do in County Donegal

You will never run out of things to do in the various towns in County Donegal. The sights themselves are unforgettable. Slieve League, a must-see, is three times higher than their more famous cousins, the Cliffs of Moher. Glenveagh National Park & Castle makes for an ideal day trip where the flora, fauna, and gardens could keep you busy for hours. Hikers should follow the Bluestack Way through the Blue Stack Mountains or you could always drive around Lough Eske for more views. Journey off the beaten path a bit to see Glengesh Pass, a lush grassy knoll. Step back in time at the Dunlewey Lakeside Center to see a traditional Irish homestead or head to the Wild Atlantic Way and enjoy the attractions and sights at Malin Head.

Sunset Lodge Rossnowlagh
Magnificent spot

The house is located on the top of the cliff, which gives you a beautiful view of the bay and wonderful sunsets at night. It has a private, separate garden where you can enjoy a nice drink and the views. The house is located between the two town pubs with great food and of course an pint of Guinness. The house is fully equipped and warm and has a view on the beach as well. Our host Mary is very kind and lovely person who was most welcoming and provided for food, drinks and information about the area. We simply love our vacation on this spot and in this area.see more

Cooley Cottage, Self catering on the Inishowen Peninsula, Donegal, Ireland
Wonderful place to explore the Inishowen Peninsula

Six of us stayed at this amazing cottage for three of our ten nights in Ireland. Philomena met us down in the Moville and led us to the cottage. She had the fire blazing for our arrival. We had the most amazing view, looking down the mountainside, past the Moville village to the sea. Lots of room in the cottage for our group. Rosato's pub down in Moville was easily our favorite pub on our trip. There was also a really interesting ancient church ruin and cemetery right near the cottage. We can't thank Philomena enough for her hospitality and making the cottage the highlight of our trip.see more
The Old Schoolhouse Carrickfinn
Heaven on Earth

The “National Island” School House is 5-minutes drive from Donegal Airport! Avoid the headache of driving from Dublin (Best possible advice) as we did! Air Lingus offers very reasonable flights from Dublin and the scenery is breathtaking. You haven’t truly lived until you come to Donegal and see the untouched natural beauty that exists! The cottage is beautifully restored and offers all the traditional touches of an Irish Cottage sets in a most spectacular area of the Wild Atlantic Way! Brilliant beaches, wonderful local pubs, astounding golf and plenty of history to explore. Elma and Cathal were the most gracious lovely people to have at your side! Always willing to “Share tea” and Cathal is a native to this area (born and raised)! He is incredibly knowledgeable, speaks the Irish language and offers a kindness to be admired. Elma left him to host while away during our stay. Before leaving, Elma prepared scones, set our table for tea and made sure we had plenty of fruit, bread, milk and Irish butter for our stay! The home was prepared with the utmost cleanliness and care. The landscape of Donegal is heaven on earth. The people of the area are kind and friendly!see more

Absolutely Fabulous!

We arrived with a car fully packed with 2 dogs, suitcases, and necessities and we left with the same things but in much better state of mind (both humans and dogs). A bottle of wine and a box of chocolates.were waiting in the house for us, and both were very much appreciated. I had read earlier reviews about the house being spotlessly clean, and I wasn't disappointed. Every room was clean, both bathrooms were spotless. The kitchen also had tea, sugar, and most necessities for making whatever you felt like cooking. The house has the ocean in the front and in the back....the dogs ran on the beach every single day and enjoyed it (and are missing it now that we're back home). They also ran the property which is substantial, I think they would've been pleased with just that. I cannot say enough good things about this trip, this house, and this area of Donegal.see more
