“Wonderful Barbados villa” For the past 5 years we have spent the winter months of January, February & March here in Sunset Crest, Holetown, Barbados. The last 2 years here at Mangoes, which meets our every need. Close to beach, beach house, shopping and many restaurants all within easy walking distance. With 3 bedrooms it easily accommodates us and our adult children when they come for a visit. This is our second year here and have already booked for next year.

“Perfection” This was the first time we have booked a private villa and were a little nervous as to what to expect - our concern was unfounded, the villa "did exactly as it said on the tin"! Carlton was excellent and nothing too muc trouble. The location is perfect, near to all restaurants and bars, beach etc. We really didn't want to leave and are looking forward to returning.

“Perfect villa in superb location” Really lovely villa and so handy for everything in Holetown we stayed in a Hotel the previous year ( Colony Club ) but this villa had everything we would wish for and so more private Paulette came in every couple of days and the gardens and pool were kept in first class condition throughout our stay We used Port St Charles a couple of times which was an added bonus when renting here and if you want to get away from the busy beaches this exclusive yacht club is perfect Looking forward to returning next February with friends as we have rebooked already which says it all !

“Very good location” Carlton was very easy to talk to and ask for help on anything to do with the island. He did all this even before I met him for the first time. So this was setting me up as too how it was to be in person and he was just as pleasant and helpful when we arrived. The house is in a great location and an easy walk to everything you need. We did not see monkeys in the garden but they were on the street in front of the house a few times which was a thrill for us. You will feel very safe in the area where the rental is located as well. The only thing I would have to say that was not up to my liking were the beds. They were really hard and needed a pad on the top of them for more comfort . After being there a week you really felt your back getting sore. One other thing that could have been better was the house keeping. The lady was so sweet and nice to be around I did not dare ask her to do a better job on the floors. It was so minor and we were only there a week so I chose to over look it. I would not even consider staying at another place if I ever get the chance to return. Carlton has my business and I have told others to rent as well from this same place. Well worth the look. Thank You Carlton for the chance to stay at your rental.

“Best Of Barbados Cathy & Tony 2012” We recently had the great pleasure of staying in condo Palm Beach Condos. Condo #1. This wonderful condo is owned by a lovely couple whom live there part time and share it with others for enjoyment. It is off the main hwy and very private, quiet and secluded. Condo #1 is very unique in that it is the only corner property facing the the beach with a wonderful balcony with great views of the sunset by evening and water activities by day. Lies 10ft from the beach. There are plenty of water activities available as well as just strolling on the beach and relaxing with restaurants available along the beach. There is a fresh water pool as well. It has a dining/living rm combination which is open air with multiple fans for excellent ventilation for tropical breezes and cooling. The condo is immacuately kept and well furnished. Kitchen has everything thing for cooking equisite meals. The bedroom has a king size bed and is cooled(air con) with multiple fans and very confortable for sleeping with the open windows for the wonderful sound of the surf. It is located within walking distance to grocery shopping, excellent restaurants of various meals, and gift shopping. Bus service is located on main street to take you all over the island. This was a 65th birthday gift for Cathy which will be remembered for a life time. We want everyone to know that is coming to Barbados this is the best place to come and stay. We hope to return soon and will be making our reservation only for condo # 1. The owners and Care taker Pat are a dream to work with and go out of their way to make your stay in their home most enjoyable. Thanks Dayle and George.

Alamanda, 3 bedroom villa with private pool

Holetown villa

“A slice of paradise” Location, location, location - it doesn't get better. One walks across the road to the very best beach on the island. Pure white sand, swaying palms and a warm sea. The magic is the house with it's stunning landscaped garden and alamanda flowering bushes. The pool and decking when one wakes or to wallow in with a drink at the end of the day not a bad conclusion. The wonderful maid who kindly prepared breakfast and suppers as needed, very happy, a good cook and made us feel spoilt. I can highly recommend a week at alamanda. We stayed a week in 2008 and have been back every year since.

“We loved it!!!” On a recent vacation with my husband and 22 month old daughter, we stayed at the Vida Mejor and we absolutely loved it! Carlton was amazing! He helped us arrange transportation from the airport. Carlton welcomed us with a friendly hand shake when we arrived and was nothing less than polite and helpful! The villa was very clean, and nice. Great location!!! A 5-10min walk to beach and cafes/restaurants. My Daughtet loved the pool!!! And we kinda adopted the villa cat while we were there.( my daughter insisted on taking care of it :-) A great place to stay. We look forward to staying here again in 2014!

“Gracious Host Came With Toast” The Villa Vida Mejor Villa was the perfect place for our family to stay on our first trip to Barbados. The moment we arrived (late at night) Carlton greeted us with bread, for toast, tea, and other fixings for breakfast. He was always present when needed, but never intrusive. The Villa is comfortable and spacious, and the private pool is a serene getaway surrounded by tropical plants. It is located in a quiet neighborhood, but only a quarter mile or so from Holetown proper and the bustle of the platinum coast. The kids loved the high speed internet, while we enjoyed breakfast on the terrace. The beach is an easy 10 minute walk away. When we come back to Barbados, there is no doubt whatsoever that we will return to the Vida Mejor.

About Holetown

This beautiful resort overlooks the warm Caribbean Sea which, in turn, provides the backdrop for amazing sunsets and fantastic beach trips. The tropical temperatures, laid-back vibe and sheer friendliness of the locals is reason enough to come here on holiday. But add the rum distillery tours, and it gets even more tempting.

Get your vacation off to a great start by booking your ideal rental property on FlipKey.

About Holetown, Barbados

Sitting on the west side of Barbados, Holetown was the island's first-ever settlement. It was the English who landed and originally called the area Jamestown after King James I, who was king of England in 1625. It was later renamed after the stream which runs nearby called The Hole.

Today, it's regarded as a luxury vacation idyll and is home to many five star hotels, upmarket villas and gourmet restaurants. It's also the location for McGill University's Bellairs Research Institute which studies tropical marine habitats. See what you can discover during your stay here.

What to do in Holetown, Barbados

Try the Friday Night Fish Fry Party at the nearby village of Oisin, where you'll find some lively Caribbean music to dance to after dining. It’s the perfect way to socialise with the locals and soak up the fun atmosphere.

Arrive in February and you should catch the Holetown Festival. The town takes on a carnival atmosphere to mark the first settlers' landing, with events such as a Floodlight Tattoo Parade and Seaside Theatre lasting throughout the week.

Go out to sea on a guided tour in one of the many glass bottom boats. You'll be able to swim or snorkel with turtles and colorful fish all afternoon, then afterwards enjoy a rum punch or two when you've returned to the boat.

Go to Folkestone Beach where you can sunbathe, swim and enjoy a beer from the cold shack conveniently located there. Everyone loves a day relaxing on a beautiful beach as part of the perfect Barbados vacation.

Provided you're not of a vegetarian persuasion, pop on over to Roti Den and try the goat curry if you've never had it before. It's delicious and a local delicacy.

Top travel tips for Holetown, Barbados

Enjoy driving around the island in a hire car, but don't bother consulting any maps. They're not particularly accurate and few villages have name signs anyway. It’s more a case of exploring and seeing where you end up.

You can also get around the island on one of the small yellow buses. This is incredibly cheap—at just approximately $1 for a round trip—and a great way to meet the locals and hear laidback reggae music.

It’s worth knowing that the sea on the east has extremely strong undercurrents and is considered too dangerous to swim in. If you like a swim in the sea, stick to the waves on the west coast.

A beautiful resort with friendly, welcoming people, the Caribbean Sea and beaches to die for, Holetown really does take some beating as a holiday destination. Barbados as a whole is a fascinating island with plenty of documented history and all locations within easy driving or bussing distance of Holetown.

Condo #1 Palm Beach Holetown, Barbados Beachfront Condo with a spectacular view
Beautiful Oceanfront Condo

My husband and I have traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean over the years, and have stayed in all types of accommodations. We found Palm Beach #1 via the internet, and had a few email chats with the owners, Dayle and George, who were very accommodating and quick to respond. We arrived on 6/11; Palm Beach #1 was about a 45 minute drive as we got a little lost. Upon arrival we were met by Janet and Farley, our greeters. The unit was all we expected, and more. There are, I believe 14 units, on two floors. Unit #1, on the upper level, is the only unit at Palm Beach that is direct oceanfront, with an amazing water and beach view from the balcony. All the other units either face the pool or gardens. The unit has a large bedroom with powerful A/C, and a modern bathroom / sink area. Also a locking security chest for valuables. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need if you cook in. We made a daily breakfast, and dinner about half the time over our 8 night stay. The refrigerator is full size, with a gas stove, oven, broiler combo. Microwave, toaster, blender, and all the utensils you could think of. Two TV’s with USA cable channels. Unit #1, as promised is literally 10 feet from the ocean, which was warm, calm, and clean. Next door, there is nightly music at the Mango Bay All-Inclusive. Sit on balcony, people watch, and listen to the free music. If you choose to cook in, use the Super Centre across the street, for all your needs. It’s very similar to USA supermarkets. Some restaurants we enjoyed were The Tides, Zaccio’s, Beach House, and Surfside. All were less than a 10 minute walk from unit #1. Also, Patisserie Flindt, a 2 minute walk, for wonderful fresh made desserts. Overall, unit #1 was from we could see, the best unit at Palm Beach. It’s a good value for a relaxing vacation. We will definitely consider a return in the future.see more

The property is well maintained and Carlton takes pride in ensuring everything meets your needs. We stayed for a month with our infant son and couldn't have asked for a better location. It was walking distance to restaurants, groceries, beach, and centrally located for driving to other attractions. Carlton was able to provide a pack n' play, stroller, and high chair for our son. The pool was very handy to have on those days when we didn't want to be out and about. Carlton and Peggy were very helpful with suggestion of places to go and things to do.see more

Fantastic Two Week Stay at the alamanda

We were met at the villa by Simon and he welcomed us and showed us everything we needed to know about the villa and lots of great information about the local places to eat, drink and beaches to go to etc. The villa was cleaned 3 times a week by Penny. Both Penny and Simon were very helpful and friendly during our stay and it helped make it a great holiday. The villa itself was ideal. It was spacious, spotless, welcoming and had everything you would need. The bedrooms all had air conditioning (essential) and the beds were very comfortable. The best part about the place is the pool and garden/outside seating area. The pool had just been updated and it excellent. Our son was never out of it when we were at the villa. We were even visited by a green monkey through the hedge one morning (make sure you have bananas as we ran out and he was not impressed with the apple we gave him). The location of the alamanda could not be better as all of Holetown is within walking distance. It take 2-3 minutes to get to the bars and restaurants of 1st and 2nd streets. The garage and Supermarket are only just over 5 minutes walk away and the beach is even closer. There is an excellent beach bar called Surfside. The restaurants are good, but I would especially recommend Nishi and Tides. There is much to do and see on Barbados and the people are lovely, so it was a fantastic holiday. We hope to get back in the future.see more

So good, it was a shame we had to leave, even after an extended stay

For sure we all had a most enjoyable time. It was a holiday of a lifetime for me and my family. Our stay at Mangoes was like a home from home. Everything was just so convenient, accessible and generally well organized. We just woke up to wonderful weather every day and ENJOYED. We certainly made a good choice in Mangoes and were very sad to leave. Thank you for offering such first class accommodation and facilities.see more
