Your Private Estate Near Mayan Ruins

Just forty minutes west of Merida, Yucatan’s colonial capital city and equidistant from the famed Mayan ruins of Uxmal, Hacienda Yunku occupies twenty-five sprawling acres that include an underground cave “cenote”, hundreds of meters of ancient aqueduct, and a "casa principal" that sits atop a mound believed to be the ruins of a long-forgotten Mayan site. Additional Location Information

40 kilometers from Merida. 200 K from Cancun. In the heart of the Mayan temple corridor, Hacienda Yunku is located in a hilly area at the southern edge of the famed Chixclub crater. It is easily accessible to the sacred Mayan ruins. It is near crafts villages that produce silver filigree, ceramics, textile art. And just an hour from the beach.

The grounds contain the bones of the 19th C. steam powered machines that stripped agave leaves and processed them into fiber provide ample opportunity of imaginations to run wild. The old tram that carried the fiber to the workshop is also great fun.

The cenote, part of the underground fresh water network created by the Chixclub crater can be snorkeled and/dived. It is 125 X 125 meters, two miles deep, and it is rumored diamonds exist on the bottom.

When you want to leave Hacienda Yunku, we'll advise, even take you to the Uxmal ruins, other cenote sites, and the crafts villages, or Merida. When your trip is over, we'll drive you to the airport.
