Villa Gioconda is a charming three-story villa located on a hillside, facing the sea. It sleeps 11 people. From Villa Gioconda you will enjoy a spellbinding view of the whole arch-shaped Gulf of Salerno and of the sea. Villa Gioconda is 400 square meters (4300 square feet). It features a private swimming pool, nice private terraces with a view of the sea, a private garden, air conditioning (please read description below to check in which rooms the units are installed), winter heating and WI-FI Internet access.
You will be roughly 5 km (3.1 miles) from Agropoli , where you will find restaurants, shops and public transportation. You will find shops at 3.5 km (roughly 2.2 miles) and the closest beach ( Trentova Beach ) at 5 km (roughly 3 miles).
To stay at Villa Gioconda you will need a car. You will be able to park it inside the entrance gate.
Villa Gioconda is situated in an isolated and prominent area, almost on the top of a green mountain whose slopes look out on the plains of Paestum on one side and softly descends towards the blue of the sea on the other, going through hillocks and little mountains covered in verdant cultivations.
From its terraces ad garden you will be able to enjoy a spectacular and endless view of the whole arch-shaped Gulf of Salerno: looking towards the horizon, right before your eyes, you will see the island of Capri and the mountainous outline of the whole Amalfi Coast , which ends with the city of Salerno. By looking to the right, you will be able to feast your eyes on the entire large long and arch-shaped beach of the plains of Paestum. And by stretching your eyes and looking below you, you will see the medieval town of Agropoli, with its castle overlooking the sea. Last but not least, close to where you are, you will see, bellow the villa, the verdant hills which descend towards the sea and the bay of Trentova .
Such wide panorama becomes even more fascinating once the night falls, bringing the sunset over the sea and a myriad of lights brightening the whole gulf…
Villa Gioconda is located almost at the end of a private road of about 500 meters (about 1,640 feet) which leads to four or fives houses distributed along its way. All around you will see olive groves and vineyards which lushly grow under the clear sky and the sweet Mediterranean weather.
In order to reach the villa, once leaving from Agropoli and the sea, you have to go for about 5 km (about 3 miles) along a convenient countryside road which unravels through vineyards and olive groves and offers you scenery of green hillocks and little mountains overlooking the sea at every turn.
You will run past magnificent olive groves with trees which have offered their fruits for hundreds of years...: their black large and dumpy trunks and thick intense-green foliage contrast against the light green of the land and the blue of the sky and the sea producing a fascinating effect... moreover, it is not difficult to come across a horse, donkey or cow grazing along the road...
You will find that Villa Gioconda is perfect to enjoy the peacefulness of the countryside even though it is close to the sea, beaches, and famous tourist places.
5 km (about 3 miles) away from the villa, you will find the beach of Trentova, surrounded by an enthralling bay miraculously uncontaminated, as it is a preserved natural area. The large and sandy beach is surrounded by rocky coast shaped as a green amphitheater. The sun shines on it all day long, the water is clean and transparent, and the bottom gradually increases in depth enabling not only you but also your kids to go for a swim. The rocky shore of the bay is perfect for those who enjoy exploring small underwater cavities with snorkels. The sea ahead is a protected marine area.
At Villa Gioconda you will find a marvellous turquoise-blue swimming pool, lain down on a white, sunshiny terrace with a gorgeous view on the sea and the coast . You and your kids will be able to comfortably access into the pool through a large semicircular ladder. In the night the area is enlightened by posh street-lamps and the pool by sunken lights. You will enjoy it during the night and will find lovely drinking a glass of wine while admiring the going down of the sun to the sea...
Villa Gioconda is surrounded by 2000 square meters (about 21,527 square feet) of fenced-in land. The sloping land is subdivided into terraces where citrus, fruit, and large olive trees grow. We stayed at Villa Gioconda for a week in July, 2010. It was absolutely wonderful. We booked through Summer in Italy and they were wonderful, also. They were very helpful and answered any questions that we had immediately. I will definitely book through them again. The villa itself was beautiful and very clean. We had ten people staying there with ages from 17 - 81. We had more than enough room for everyone to be very comfortable. The kitchen was large enough so when we were cooking we all were extremely comfortable. The pool area is marvelous. On the days we weren't sightseeing we spent all of our time out there. Beautiful weather and scenery! Agropoli was great. Just a couple of minute car ride and we were in the cutest town. We caught a ferry right there to take us to Capri. Very convenient. I cannot say enough about anna, the caretaker. What a wonderful women! She was so helpful and so friendly. She cooked for us on the first day we checked in and it was one of the best meals we had in all of Italy. She also owns the pizzeria right above the villa. We walked up there a couple of nights for dinner and the pizza and the rest of the food was very good. We were able to meet her husband and two of her children and they are as sweet as her. Also, it was very convenient for us because most of our ancestors are from Campagna so all the towns were very covenient for us to get to from agropoli.
Also, it is very less crowded than some of the other places we visited in Italy. All in all, everything was wonderful and I will definitely visit Villa Gioconda again!!!

Spacious villa with ample accomodation both inside and out for group parties. Good location to visit Pompei, Amalfi Coast and Cliente National Park. The villa has a great pool and terrace area and the housekeeper will alos cook you pizzas in the villa's pizza oven by request.
Summer in Italy were really helpful both before and during our stay at the property and I have no hesitation in recommending the property or their services.

We didn't figure how this place was beatiful and comfortable, a very beautiful landscape and good services. True to say we didn't view places around the villa beacause we were tired and got rest from this beatiful mini holiday, we stayed just four days.
We had a little difficulty in the last tract to arrive to Villa Gioconda.

The villa is gorgeous. We had nine adults plus two small kids, and weren't falling on top of each other :) We actually never even used the basement or the pizza oven...we mostly hung out on the porch.
While the villa is a fair distance from many sites, we enjoyed going to Agropoli for basic shopping. Paestum was very close...only about 20 minutes away. The ruins there are amazing.
On other days we drove the Amalfi Coast Road, went to Capri (ferry from Salerno), and went to Pompeii. Plus spent a lot of time relaxing on the porch or in the pool in the evenings.
The villa does have internet access, although it is not advertised. That was helpful for staying in touch. A few minor plumbing problems were dealt with fairly promptly, although figuring out hot to get hot water in each bathroom (differently in each one) was interesting!
Anyone looking for a relaxing way to start or end a vaction in southern Italy should consider this location. I'd rent again from Summer in Italy..they handled all questions quickly and professionally.

I stayed with a number of friends at the Villa Gioconda the second week in June this year.
If you want to feel rich and famous rent this place.
It has gorgeous views, fabulous bedrooms, unbelievable amounts of room all the amenities, washer, dishwasher, wifi, AC in each room so you can control the temperatures, even SCREENS!! When we were there the breeze off the ocean was continuous except at eventide so we kept the windows open.
Anna (the caretaker) will cook each evening for an additional $60 plus cost of food. For 10 of us it was a huge feast costing $150 and we ended up wasting food. The second night we got a little more real on food quantity.
The location is close to Paestum, Sorrento, Pompeii, Herculineum, the Villa Poppaea at Aplontis, the Amalfi coast, and Capri.
Hubby who is an archeology fiend went off every day. I OTOH am a beach bum and spent some of my time either at the pool or the incredible white sand beaches. Who said Italy doesn't have white sand?
Pool was definitely swimming temperature and we all enjoyed it particularly after arriving on an early flight from the US and driving to Agropoli. Made the difference between life and sleep. An hour in the pool and I was good to go until midnight!!
We got the mosquito coils and used them on the patio which resolved the mosquito issue outdoors.
With 2 little ones the doors got left open so we ended up buying some of those electronic things that kill mosquitoes in the bedroom which also worked well.
Tile around the pool was slippery so watch the little ones.
All we can talk about since we got back is how soon we can go again!!

Villa Gioconda was the perfect place for our group. We needed three bedrooms and three baths, and wanted a big enough kitchen for everyone to get involved together. This worked out perfectly (and the fourth bedroom was used as nap space when someone wanted a little 'along time'!)
The villa is very well-equipped and nicely furnished. We were very comfortable immediately and settled in as if it were our own house. There was space if anyone wanted to go off and read quietly, and the ample terraces gave us wonderfully memorable breakfasts and sunsets.
The kitchens are fabulous! First the "normal" kitchen, which was uncommonly stocked with loads of cookware and china. Everything we needed was right at hand, and we were able to have three cooks mingling at once. Downstairs is one of the greatest things we have seen in a villa - a taverna! It was another cooking and dining space with a huge door that opened up to outside. This kitchen, too, is fully equipped, but also has a wood-burning pizza oven! (So cool!)
We could not have been happier with the service we received- the recommendations, friendly greeting and welcome gifts all made us feel special.
This is a wonderful house, up a quiet road but with wonderful views and some nearby dining options. The ruins of Paestum and the beachside towns were within easy reach.
