Casa Careto

On Christmas Day 1884 Albuñuelas was devastated by an earthquake which destroyed two thirds of the village. To assist those who had lost everything, the Duque de Fernán Núñez constructed 24 houses on a bluff above the old village, commanding stunning views down the valley. Officially, this is the barrio Fernán Núñez, but is known locally as La Loma.Casa Careto is one of three luxury houses, newly constructed on the edge of the barrio overlooking the orange and olive groves of the Rio Santo Gorge. Additional Location Information

If you wish to explore Andalusia, this is an excellent location. The property is within easy reach of the bays and beaches of the Costa Tropical, which is not overbuilt or too crowded, the beautiful Alpujarras, the Sierra Nevada and the historical city of Granada. Granada Airport is 40 minutes away and Malaga airport is an easy drive of less than two hours through spectacular scenery.
The village of Albuñuelas is picturesque, overlooking the Rio Santo gorge. There are many lovely walks along and around the valley, which is surrounded by orange, lemon and olive groves giving it a lush green appearance all the year round. The village has narrow streets and an attractive church. There are three shops, a bank, a pharmacy and medical centre, and it is visited by bread and fish vans daily from which you can purchase fresh goods. The village has four tapas bars and a simple restaurant. You can find other restaurants in the nearby villages of Melegis and Restobal.
The Lecrin valley has been described in the UK Independent newspaper as one of the loveliest locations in Southern Spain. American Vogue described it as the "new Tuscany", and it offers a window on traditional Spain while still offering everything the holidaymaker needs.
