Description

Beautiful built stone cottage in the garden of owner's residence. The cottage which sleeps 4 is separated from owner's house by a number of fruit trees and a willow tunnel, forming a small private garden. There is 1 double bedroom with King size bed, adjoining the main bathroom, which has wet room style shower and a free standing bathtub. The living and kitchen area are open plan with stairs leading up to a mezzanine floor with 2 single beds and a small en-suite shower room. The bannister and balustrade are clear glass to give a good spacious open feeling. Broadband/wifi installed.The back of the cottage overlooks the attractive village green and the front has pretty uninterrupted views of rolling hills . Situated in a scenic village in an area of outstanding natural beauty in the north Pennines. The cottage is well placed for many fabulous walks, cycle rides from the doorstep and local attractions including the Hadrian's Wall, with Housesteads Fort and Vindolanda only 15 mins away. Our Village Pub The Crown reopened this year. Opening on a Thursday, Friday Saturday and Sunday. There are also other pubs within a short distance, 2 in Allendale 1.25 miles away and the Carts Bog and Elks Head 4 miles away. Within a 5 min drive there are several stylish cafes serving locally produced food. The local Allendale brewery is also close by.

If you enjoy walking there is no better countryside than the Allen Dales. There are many wonderful walks starting at the Cottage door, along the river Allen or over fell.

Getting around

There is a regular bus service running from Catton Allendale and Allenheads further up the valley. The service also runs between Catton and Hexham where there are a bus station and train station with services to Newcastle and Carlisle. For walkers and cyclists we could arrange a pickup and dropoff at Hexham Railway Station at the beginning and end of your stay.

“Comfortable, well equipped cottage”

Our family of 4 enjoyed staying at this compact and comfortable cottage. The mezzanine worked well with our two teens, and the well equipped kitchen area was a bonus. The owners welcomed us with a lovely basket of goodies and were helpful and discreet. The surrounding area is glorious, with a number of good walks and important heritage sites within a short driving distance. Well worth a visit!

How do damage deposits work?
