House rules

As Bankfield House is in a quiet neighbourhood in the village of Allithwaite we would not describe it as a party house.
The patio area is great for family and friends to have a drink and BBQ but we ask that any loud music is not played after 11 pm. The extensive gardens are also great for children and dogs to have a wonderful time.
We thank you for respecting our wishes and our neighbours will also be delighted!

“Fabulous time”

Reviewed 6 Aug 2022

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bankfield House. The house is amazing and spacious giving 7 adult, 8 children and a baby plenty of room. We spent a lot of time on the patio while the kids enjoyed the generous garden. Pub was walking distance and so was the play park. Would recommend the property with period features to anyone. Thanks for sharing this wonderful house.

“Charming Property”

Reviewed 18 Jun 2022

We had a lovely week. A family get together across the generations. The kids (4 pre school) loved the space both indoors and out. It could do with a little TLC but, as my daughter pointed out it added to the property's rustic charm and perfect place where the parents could be more relaxed and that the kids could have a more enjoyable visit. The kitchen is really well equipped, I think they hold more plates than the local restaurants!. Would definitely book again.

“Fantastic holiday in a fantastic house”

Reviewed 22 Aug 2021

We stayed for a week in this fantastic house with extended family. 5 adults and 9 children between 10 months and 15 years. It’s a great space for the kids to play indoors and out and has great space to spend as a family. Helen and Eric made sure everything you could possibly need was there. It’s the ideal location for exploring the beautiful lakes. When we visit the area again we will certainly be coming back to Bankfield House.

“Fantastic home in a fantastic location”

Reviewed 24 Jul 2021

Had an amazing time at Bankfield House with some friends over the course of a week. The house was in great condition, clean throughout with fresh everything ready and waiting for us to get stuck in. The kitchen was especially brilliant, as was the conservatory and the beautiful garden. If you're looking for a great place to relax with friends and de-stress, you can't go wrong here. We would very, very happily stay again!

“Gorgeous and spacious house with amazing views”

Reviewed 25 Oct 2020

We enjoyed a wonderful holiday week at Bankfield House. As there were only four of us and the house is very big, we only ended up using half of the rooms but it still felt very spacious. The house has amazing views and has many lovely architectural features. The location is peaceful and fabulous for local walks and as a base for the rest of Cumbria and the Lakes. Despite being a big house, it is also wonderfully warm - we will miss the warmth of the AGA in particular. The house also has many other heaters apart from the heating that you can turn on separately however we didn’t need to use them as the AGA and the central heating was warm enough for us. The kitchen was also very well equipped and while it has a separate oven and hob (and microwave), we enjoyed using the AGA ovens for baked potatoes and the hot plates for cooking. The three bathroom/shower rooms were great - warm, specious and everything worked well. The warm water was hot and plentiful. The additional downstairs loo was also a great addition. Parking was also very convenient and safe and the boot room and laundry room were very useful as a family with kids and a dog. We also loved that the sofas had throws covering them so we could relax and not worry if the children or our dog got mud on them. The gardens are also lovely and secure and our kids and dog loved running around outside. Helen and Eric were also super friendly and helpful and we appreciated the COVID-19 prevention cleaning and other measures they had in place. Many thanks Helen and Eric for a wonderfully relaxing and peaceful holiday.
