Alpine ski chalet with log fire, sleeps 8

Our chalet is in the charming ski village of La Foux d'Allos, in the Southern French Alps. With access to 230km of piste runs and incredible off-piste, this is one of the largest ski areas in France. The village and ski lifts are in walking distance.

Back in January 1988, we had our first family ski holiday in the resort of La Foux d'Allos. What struck us on the first day, and is still true today, is how friendly all the locals were and what good value the village was. Many of the people that we met on that first trip are still friends today.

Additional Location Information

La Foux d'Allos is more than just a ski station. Many people live in the village all year round which means that there is a real community feel. There is a bakery, butchers, grocery store and several well-established restaurants serving authentic mountain dishes. Every Wednesday there is a market in the village square.

Every Friday night during the ski season, there is a torchlight descent on the main slope. Ski and snowboard instructors guide their ski school groups down the piste to music and there is mulled wine and hot chocolate for spectators.

In the summer, the village is bustling with visiting walkers, cyclists, and locals who come to the mountains to avoid the heat on the south coast of France. There is a riding school in La Foux d'Allos, offering pony treks around the valley. The valley also regularly hosts daring motocross competitions which make for exciting viewing! If you head down to Saint-Andre-les-Alpes (about 40mins drive), you can try a variety of watersports at the 'base de loisirs', leisure lake. The area is popular with walkers, cyclists and mountain bikers who enjoy the stunning scenery and challenging terrain.
